Although the International Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights is not legally bindi... more Although the International Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights is not legally binding, economic and social rights have been included in most constitutions around the world. Constitutional rights are difficult to change and usually remain even after government transitions. Because human rights are included in constitutions, human rights are explicitly entrenched, whereas consumer rights can be modified by ordinary legislation or judicial decisions. Thus, economic, social, and cultural rights are human rights endowed by a state which is responsible for protecting those rights. Therefore, it can be inferred that these rights are therefore considered crucial and consistent with universal core values.
