However, a surge of research studies on the blockchain has taken place in recent years. These research studies have mostly focused on designing and developing conceptual frameworks to build more reliable, transparent and efficient digital systems. While blockchain brings a wide variety of benefits, it also imposes certain challenges. Therefore, the objective of this research is to understand the properties of blockchain, its current uses, observed benefits and pitfalls to provide a balanced understanding of blockchain. Cities where water supply system follows trivial analog system like Dhaka city, a twenty-four hou... more Cities where water supply system follows trivial analog system like Dhaka city, a twenty-four hours monitoring is required to start the water pump immediately when water is available in the main water supply line. A significant amount of water can be wasted only for the reason of overflowing the water tank. Thus, the aim of this paper is to propose an automated water pumping system to minimize the wastage of time, money, labor and water loss. A high-fidelity prototype system was designed and developed using the Arduino Uno, water pump, potentiometer and relay switch; and able to control its operation automatically with respect to the availability and amount of water in the main water supply line and the reserve water. An evaluation study was also conducted to assess the availability and reliability of the system. The evaluation results showed that the proposed system is reliable, available and cost-effective.

Adopting Industry 4.0 in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) provides new paradigms for industrial management to enhance the business policies and outcomes. Payments in SMEs primarily follow the existing banking system in Bangladesh. Again, though the mobile money transferring system is a convenient and easy way, it required to be highly secure and reliable. Thus, an automated and secured mobile money transfer can be introduced towards adopting the Industry 4.0 in SMEs in Bangladesh. Therefore, the objective of this article is to propose a money transfer system to automate and enhance the security of payment process for SMEs in Bangladesh. To attain this objective, a conceptual framework from an Industry 4.0 perspective along with required algorithm is proposed here. The proposed system includes iris verification technique to authenticate a user uniquely and consistently over the time. The theoretical justification and expected benefits are also discussed.

While using a mobile application, it may have access to some user data or resources. If the application is able to share data using mobile resources, it can be a serious concern for the end-users regarding privacy and security. Especially in Android, it may not be possible to detect if any software is uploading or sharing user data to the server without the approval of the user. Though a few apps exist to monitor user privacy and data sharing, these (monitoring) app itself has a chance to be dangerous for misusing user data as it must require access to sensitive data and accessories. Therefore, the objective of this research is to study and analyze the mobile data flow, resource sharing and mobile OS security, and to propose a conceptual framework to preserve user data and resource safety for improving user privacy. The proposed framework is also theoretically validated through an example case study.

Although integrating Industry 4.0 will automate the production process and reduce the involvement of manpower in industries but the inclusion of effective Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) is required to ensure the efficiency, effectiveness, and user satisfaction towards a system developed for adopting the Industry 4.0 paradigm in an industry. Therefore, the objective of this research is to assess the significance of considering HCI and usability issues at the early stage of developing any software system from Industry 4.0 perspective. To attain this objective, a prototypical application was developed to automate the lime production, control, and monitoring system from the Industry 4.0 perspective. Later, the system was evaluated by 9 participants (evaluators) using the Cognitive Walkthrough approach, and the prototype was refined based on its outcomes. The refined system was again evaluated by 11 participants following the Cognitive Walkthrough and showed that the usability improved due to considering the usability evaluation at the early stage of the development process of the application.

To obtain this research objective, firstly the related applications were selected through the systematic search technique in the popular application stores. Secondly, data related to the app objectives, functionalities provided by the app, user ratings, and user reviews were extracted. Thirdly, the extracted data were analyzed through the affinity diagram, noticing-collecting-thinking, and descriptive analysis. As outcomes, the review provides a state-of-the-art view of mobile apps developed for COVID-19 by revealing nine functionalities or features. It revealed ten factors related to information systems design characteristics that can guide future app design. The review outcome highlights the need for new development and further refinement of the existing applications considering not only the revealed objectives and their associated functionalities, but also revealed design characteristics such as reliability, performance, usefulness, supportive, security, privacy, flexibility, responsiveness, ease of use, and cultural sensitivity.
