Lakes can deliver us with prime prospects for regeneration, tourism, and cottage or residential living. So the restoration of lake and river is very important. Restoration is focused towards reconstructing the new physical, chemical and biological state of the river. In its uncontaminated logic, it means a full basic and useful return to a pre-distribution state. Restoration process increases the quality of life in both rural and urban areas. For city life: • By upgrading the groundwater security system & Improve drinking water quality • Minimizing the impacts of climate change • Reduction of flood, erosion risk in rural areas (by decreasing the velocity of current flow in rainy season) and create new green recreational spaces in urban areas. The riverbank trees also protect the urban areas from flood and erosion. • Air quality regulation is possible due to vegetation diversity, density and humidity. • Remains the city cool, helps to lower surface and air temperature by providing shade and • release moisture into the air • Provide habitat to plants and animal for a green city • Diminution of pollution by eliminating vehicles • Disease regulation is possible by this, as it improves river and riparian habitat, which can eliminate water born pathogenic microbes. • Recreation and tourism value increase which contributes to the economy • Water recycling can be enhanced by restoration; beneficial to microclimate and water regulation. • Food production might be possible by the river or lakeside; crop, fruit, fish in a limited way. • City agriculture (especially in the dry season) The principle restoration strategies for river or lake are (1) external loading control, (2) internal loading control, (3) recapture or pre-capture from water. However, stream restoration, designed specifically to enhance the hypothetic process, has seldom been contemplated. This sustainable project has some daunting challenges to overcome and maintain in professional, sensitive hands. For example-Industrial wastewater treatment policy must have to follow strictly. Otherwise, the river may turn into Buriganga or Turag River of Bangladesh, which is a huge threat to build up a sustainable city. The urban agriculture must have green and sustainable techniques. Moreover, Rooftop agriculture should be a new way to make the city life green. The transportation system of a city might be interfered by the rivers and lake. To adjust with this change is a big challenge City sources explanation for noteworthy quantities of important diffuse pollutants, and urban watercourses are typically badly contaminated. So it is a big question if significant reductions in pollution loads can restore urban watercourses.
