However, since it is useful in so many disciplines, the development of FAST is in a state of evolution. As with any new development, each disciple finds new uses and variations, so that some confusion arises when we try to communicate with this new tool. The Function Analysis System Technique (FAST) visually presents the relationships of functions performed by a product, service, or organization, and identifies the areas where functions have the greatest impact on cost. FAST Diagramming is a process of thinking logically about Function Analysis and it is this logic that is al Iimportant as it is applied to the concepts of the various disciplines.
