The authors put forward the suggestion that modern psychological approaches, especially those dealing with education of children, might be rooted in the teachings of Iranian mystics. In mysticism and classical Iranian literature, like in Adlerian psychology, much attention is given to human nature in its entirety and personality development. The analysis focuses on such core aspects of Adler’s theory as the feeling of inferiority and the striving for recognition, the influence of family and social environment on personality development and lifestyle. It is shown that, like Adler’s individual psychology, classical Persian texts stress the importance of the social aspect in the child’s development but while Adler believed in the...

The content analyses and statistical analyses were applied. The results of this study demonstrated that Russian experienced managers use the similar number of measurable and unmeasurable criteria to control and assess achievement of goals. Furthermore, they use unmeasurable criteria more often than measurable ones for controlling and assessing effectiveness of both the process and behavior (differences are of a statistical significance). Owing to the set of these criteria experienced managers would receive more opportunities to apply the learning content to their work and would be more motivated to do this as well.

Identifying and understanding the similarities and differences between subjective trust criteria ... more Identifying and understanding the similarities and differences between subjective trust criteria in Russian and European business can help offer scientific recommendations for the development of long-term international business cooperation, based on mutual trust, despite the differences between both cultures. The purpose of this study is to describe the relations between the implicit and explicit trust criteria presented in Russian and European studies, and to compare how these criteria are expressed in Russian and European publications from a quantitative perspective. Using the content analysis of European and Russian publications for the period 2005–2015, the following main research questions are considered: (1) Are more references made to explicit trust criteria than implicit trust criteria? (2) Are the explicit criteria focused on a partner’s business mentioned more often than the explicit criteria focused on a partner’s competences and personality? (3) Are more references made ...

This study aims to investigate whether and to what extent the national context affects teaching methods, in particular the interactive methods, which Uzbek professors use for training the civil service talent pool. The study is based on focus groups and content and cluster analysis. The results show that although Uzbek professors acknowledge the importance of the national context, their adult students' needs and their own pedagogical experience are paramount in their choice of interactive methods. We also found that professors are highly motivated to try new methods, despite the lack of adequate access to cutting-edge resources. Therefore, their professional development should be aimed at improving their teaching qualifications by introducing the latest global trends in instruction methods. Conventional methods have to be revised and complemented with modern ones. This will lead to mutual enrichment between unique and strong Uzbek national traditions in education and contemporary international trends.

Purpose. The purpose of the study is to determine the psychological characteristics of such an interaction. Method. As a research method four focus groups for managers and their young subordinates have been used. All participants (N = 34) work in different branches at the Ural commercial and industrial company (Ekaterinburg, Kazan, Naberezhnye Chelny, Ufa, Tyumen and Perm). Each focus group was conducted remotely and lasted for 1.5 hours. The following variables were recorded for analysis: 1) the type of behavior of young subordinates (proactive or reactive); 2) interaction strategies (“win —win” or “win — lose”), 3) willingness of subordinates to acquire new knowledge through error analysis; 4) consistency of the positions of the leader and subordinate; 5) both sides’ mistakes in planning, organization of work and control. The total num...

It is a tool that helps create strategic partnerships and facilitates deals that carry certain risks. Cultural differences and norms can affect business relations, but more often focus is on the obvious differences. Although trust in a business partner may be due to non-obvious differences, for example, which part of the deal the partner wants to control himself and which part of the deal he wants to give to the partner to control. If the difference between the real and desired levels of the partner’s control over the deal is large, then is trust possible, especially in intercultural business relations? Objective: One aim of our study is to find out whether trust may be considered as moderator of control in a business deal. In other words, if the level of trust in a business partner is higher, are the partners more open to sharing their control over the deal with each other? The other aim is to identify the links ...
