Drawing on established literature in the field of organizational learning, the authors analyze learning from three theoretical perspectivescognitive, behavioral and social. They argue that how different internal and external phenomenon give birth to learning in organization and how the organization can benefit from them while utilizing them for the better management and productive engagement of the employees. The study concludes with some practical suggestions about how organizations can increase their ability to learn. It also describes different methods for learning and different measures.

Malaysia has pledged to reduce 45 per cent of its carbon emissions by 2025. However, reducing carbon emissions from the industry was still limited due to voluntary reporting, particularly among manufacturers. Thus, it is ambitious for the Malaysian government to achieve its target by 2025. A complete review is performed to go through the literature and determine the review's research path. This review aims to investigate the low carbon performance based on the manufacturing industry's low carbon supply chain practices. The findings show that low carbon production was insignificant in reducing overall carbon emissions. In contrast, the rest of the low carbon supply chain practices were by the Natural Resource-Based-View (NRBV) theory. It helps to identify companies' low carbon supply chain pra...

The methodology is based on Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews (PRISMA) to search for multiple scientific information databases and to guarantee that no important study is overlooked. For the single theory, highly employed theories were the Theory of Constraints, Resource-based View/Natural Resource-based View Theory (RBV/NRBV), and Contingency Theory (CT). Meanwhile, several articles employed integrations of several theories in a publication. Concerning the year of publication, significant growth in articles with underpinned theories was published from 2020 onwards. This study offers several significant contributions to researchers to widen the knowledge related to the adaptation of theories in the field of lean performance, as research underpinned by a theory offers a solid and convincing result in investigating the researc...

This research shows the factors affecting young Malaysian consumers’ switching intention towards biodegradable plastic rather than traditional plastic (synthetic plastics). In this study, there are three factors to be considered whether they influence the young consumers in Malaysia to change their intention towards biodegradable plastic. The three factors are environmental concern, knowledge and the perceived value of biodegradable plastic. However, biodegradable plastic’s switching intention is also affected by biodegradable plastic’s attitude, where the three factors influence this attitude. Thus, all variables are considered in this research to investigate the reasons for switching intention from synthetic to biodegradable plastics among young Malaysian consumers. Design/methodology/approach In line with the recent economic growth, especially in develop...

The study gathers data from the Scopus and ISI Web of Science databases, then picks 1042 publications objectively and analyses their metadata. Furthermore, 144 papers from the Web of Science are analysed to present insights and classifications of the literature based on content analyses, including assessment/evaluation of the sustainability of bio-based and biodegradable Plastics, sustainability of biodegradable Plastics, and factors driving the uptake of biodegradable plastics. The study finds that most research on bio-based and biodegradable plastic film evaluations considered only one dimension of sustainability, few considered two dimensions, and very few considered three dimensions. Though, in recent years, academic and industrial interest has grown dramatically in biodegradable plastics towards sustainability. The triple bottom line method in this report (economic benefit, social responsibility, and environmental protection) was employed to assess the biodegradable plastics towards sustainability. Top journals, Influential authors, top contributing institutions, top contributing nations, and contributions by fields are all identified in this study. This research gives a detailed but straightforward theoretical design of bio-based and biodegradable polymers. The study's results and future research initiatives provide a new path for further investigation and contribution to the field.

In order to achieve these objectives, this module is prepared as a guideline for the final year students of Bachelor of Project Management (Hons) and Bachelor of Industrial Technology Management (Hons) in conducting their FYP within two semesters (i.e., Semester six and seven). It guides them to meet the requirement of FYP, starting from the preparation of a research proposal until the final reporting, besides as a logbook to record their project activities and progress. We expect that this module shall be utilized as a guideline to produce high-quality research proposals, final reports, research papers, and posters. Al...

This article contains the tutorial document composed of a short discussion on AHP presented at the International conference on “Proceedings of Engineering Technology International Conference”. The conference would be held at Bali, Indonesia during August 10-11, 2015. The paper starts with the short review of Multi-criteria Decision Making and AHP. Then it discusses about the techniques and formulae that are used in the AHP decision-making method. Lastly, this paper recommends AHP to future researchers and professionals with highlights of the reasons to use the methodology process when engaged in complex decision-making problems

Generally, thesis provides them with an opportunity to demonstrate ideas, research skills, and creative abilities. The specific objectives of this course are as follows: 1. To develop the students’ basic skill of research. 2. To expose the students in conducting literature review from research materials, such as journals, internet sources, magazines, etc. 3. To have insight on research methodology in the areas of students’ interest. 4. To assist the students in data analysis. 5. To produce an acceptable thesis. 6. To build student’s self-confidence, communication, presentation, writing and time management skills. In order to achieve the above objectives, this guideline is prepared for the final year students of Bachelor of Business Engineering with Honours in conducting their case-based research within one semester (i.e., semester eight). It guides the students to meet the minimum requirement of thesis, starting from proposing research idea until final reporting, besides as a logbook to record their research activities and progress. We expect that this guideline shall be utilized as a standard to produce high quality of researches and theses. All the best

In order to sustain and stay competitive, this industry needs to continuously improve its productivity and process efficiency. Benchmarking techniques can be used to identify and investigate palm oil industry best practices adopted by palm oil planters and millers. Past studies showed that the success of benchmarking initiative is very much dependent on top management’s commitment and leadership. This paper aims to discuss managers’ perception on the importance and actual practice of eight attributes of top management’s commitment and leadership in palm oil industry benchmarking implementation. A survey questionnaire was sent 700 middle managers involved in oil palm plantation and palm oil mill in Malaysia. The survey response rate was 49%. Analysis of the survey results shows significant differences between respondents’ perception on the importance and actual pra...

This paradigm change has led Malaysians to pay more attention to synthetic plastics challenges, particularly in Malaysia. This study aims to determine the attitudes of young Malaysian consumers on the usage of biodegradable plastics to minimize the use of synthetic plastic in the country. Generally, two motivations—hedonic and environmental motivations toward switching intention from synthetic to biodegradable plastic among the young consumers were examined in the study. Environmental motivations (environmental concern, environmental knowledge), as well as hedonic motivations (adventurous spirit, novelty-seeking), are used in this study to broaden the theory of consumption value (TCV) into four additional factors that may positively impact the young consumer's attitude and increase switching intention towards biodegradable plastics. The data was collected utilizing an online survey approach and a standardized questionnaire. The data of 386 young Malaysian customers were analyzed using structural equation modelling (SEM) using SmartPLS 3. The study's significant findings indicated that hedonic motivations, environmental motivations, and attitudes all impact switching intentions toward biodegradable plastics. This study also found that attitude is a mediator between hedonic and environmental motivations regarding switching intentions. These findings might aid the government in developing a new policy that encourages residents to adopt biodegradable plastics while also lowering pollution.
