The focus is on candidates’ Twitter usage during the 2014 EU elections in France and in Germany. Quantitative and qualitative analyses of tweets collected during a period of four weeks have been carried out on the basis of the functional operator model of Twitter. The model serves as a framework for assessing users’ tweeting styles, which can range between personal-interactive and topical-informative. The comparison of French and German top candidates’ tweeting styles, which mainly appear to be „personal-interactive“, however questions the candidates’ alleged efforts to enter into dialogue with their voters.

ABSTRACT. In recent years, the Web has evolved into an exchange platform. Customer relationship management must evolve and connect to social networks and place the company at the heart of communication. We propose in this paper an approach to community detection of customers of a company based on explicit and implicit behavior of customers. For this, we define a similarity measure, between a user and a tag, that takes into account the rating and consulting resources and user contacts. We validate this approach against a small database.

The diversity of spatial information systems (GIS) and data models has created a need for tools and methodologies to allow cooperation or interoperation among GIS. In particular, mediation based approaches, which aim at achieving autonomy, extensibility and flexibility of participant systems, will become increasingly popular in emerging WEB-based processing environments. The underlying approach of ISIS combines techniques from the domains of traditional interoperable information systems, spatial data modeling and multi-agents systems. In this paper we describe the AMUN data model which provides a foundation for resolving semantic discrepancies among systems and for modeling cooperative GIS.

ABSTRACT. In recent years, the Web has evolved into an exchange platform. Customer relationship management must follow this evolution and provide users with tools to integrate data from social networks in order to place companies at the heart of the exchanges. We propose in this paper a generic approach to community detection of customers of a company based on their explicit and implicit behavior, integrating data from various sources. For this, we define a similarity measure, between a user and a tag, that takes into account the rating and consultation of resources and the social network of the user. We validate this approach against a test database by using two different community detection methods for three use cases.

We present an on going research project, called ISIS (Interoperable Spatial Information System), which aims to build an environment to support interoperability of GIS by interconnecting spatial data repositories and spatial processing resources. Our solution combines techniques from traditional interoperable information systems, spatial data modeling and distributed object oriented databases. While object oriented data modeling impact has been studied in spatial databases, research in model for distribution of both data and operations has received little attention. We focus in this paper on modeling problems and describe an hybrid spatial functional OO model that provides tools to model distribution and to resolve heterogeneities.

Demand is modelled as a compound Poisson process and the stock is controlled according to a continuous time order-up-to (OUT) level policy. We propose a method for determining the optimal OUT level for cost oriented inventory systems where unfilled demands are backordered. We first establish an analytical characterization of the optimal OUT level. The actual calculation is based on a numerical procedure the accuracy of which can be set as highly as desired. By means of a numerical investigation, we show that the method is very efficient in calculating the optimal OUT level. We compare our results with those obtained using an approximation proposed in the literature and we show that there is a significant difference in accuracy for slow moving items. Our work allows insights to be gained on stock control related issues for both fast and slow moving Stock Keeping Units (SKUs).

Archaeological data include textual information, measures, sketches, photographies, 3D models, and a vast amount of links between data and historical information sources. We develop a formal model for ontology-based annotations that conforms to a semi-ring algebraic structure and we define a subset of algebraic operators to query annotations. We show how our approach is instantiated in a collaborative Web platform for the Burgundy Stone project.
