The present study is an attempt to find out the relationship of Stressful Life Events and Happine... more The present study is an attempt to find out the relationship of Stressful Life Events and Happiness in a group of employed adults. Total 100 employed adult individuals (age range 23- 28 years) of both sexes were selected for the present study after an initial screening by General Health Questionnaire-28. To fulfill the objective of the present venture, Oxford Happiness Questionnaire and Presumptive Stressful Life Event Scale were administered on the subjects following an uniform procedure. The nature of relationship was measured by using Pearson's Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. Results indicated that Stressful Life Events bears a significant negative relationship with happiness.

In keeping all these views in mind the present study was conducted on 50 married women and 50 married men in Kolkata to discover whether there are any difference in their level of Marital Adjustment and Depression. For this study, Marital Adjustment Questionnaire and Beck Depression Inventory was administrated on the participants. Result indicated there is a significant difference in the level of marital adjustment of married women and married men, where men reported better marital adjustment. Also, the prevent venture revealed a significant difference in the level of Depression between the females and males, where level of depression is higher in females.

Peer Pressure Scale and Global Adjustment Scale were administered on the participants. Mean, SD and 't' test were computed to obtain the results. Results indicated adolescent boys receive more Peer Pressure than their girl counterparts. Significant Gender difference has also been found in areas of Emotional, Family, Health and Social Adjustment.

State Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ), were administered on them. These tests were also administered on the control group consisting 20 mothers who have normal child. Results indicate that the mothers having disabled child have greater level of Anxiety and Depression. It was also found that the mothers of disabled child are low in the ways of Cognitive Emotion Regulation like Positive Reappraisal, Positive Refocusing, Putting into Perspective and Refocus on Planning.
The present study is an attempt to assess the pattern of cognitive emotion regulation of the sibl... more The present study is an attempt to assess the pattern of cognitive emotion regulation of the siblings and mothers of disabled children. 10 adolescents who have mentally disabled siblings and 10 mothers having disabled children were chosen for the study. All completed Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire. Data were compared with 10 adolescents who have normal siblings and the mothers having normal. Results indicated that although the difference is insignificant, but the children having normal siblings are better in their cognitive coping. Besides, the mothers of normal children are significantly better in their cognitive coping.

The present study attempts to investigate various psychological correlates of happiness in a grou... more The present study attempts to investigate various psychological correlates of happiness in a group of non clinical population. Oxford Happiness Questionnaire, Attributional Style Questionnaire, Presumptive stressful life events scale, Neo Five Factor Inventory and the Parental Bonding Instrument were administered individually to 40 employed adults (age range 23-28 years). The correlation of happiness with other psychological variables was examined using Pearson's product moment correlation coefficient. The findings revealed that parental care (especially mother's) and positive attribution style were found to be related with happiness. It was also observed that personality traits of extraversion and openness to experience were positively related with happiness whereas neuroticism was inversely related with happiness.
