This paper outlines the Taguchi optimization methodology, which is applied to optimize cutting parameters in end milling operation. The study was conducted in machining operation in hardened steel DIN GX40CRMOV5-1. The processing of the job was done by TiN coated carbide inserted end-mill tool under semi-finishing and finishing conditions of high-speed cutting. The milling parameters evaluated were cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut. The experiments were conducted by using L-27 (313) orthogonal array as suggested by Taguchi. Signal-to- Noise (S/N) ratio and Pareto Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) are employed to analyze the effect of milling parameters on surface roughness. Main effects of process parameters on the quality characteristics have been analyzed. The results show that the optimum parameters of machining by CNC Milling Machine for specified hardened steel material DIN GX40CRMOV5-1 is obtained at a cutting speed of 355m=min; feed rate 0.1mm per tooth and depth of cut 0:5mm:

In other words, OR represents the study of optimal resource allocation. The goal of OR is to provide rational bases for decision making by seeking to understand and structure complex situations, and to utilize this understanding to predict system behavior and improve system performance

The main and one of the significant ultimate platforms for this is manufacturing control through application of CNC machines to compensate and minimize to maximum extent in any kind of error occurring while machining operations. Positioning error is one of the contributory factors to rejection and inferior quality. This paper proposes a new off line error compensation model by taking into accounting of geometric and cutting force induced errors in a 3-axis CNC milling machine with more flexible and automatic approaches. Experimental tests have been carried out in order to validate the performance of geometric and cutting force induced errors compensation model.

If there are only two variables, one can use a graphical method of solution. Let us begin with the set of constraints and consider them as a system of inequalities. The solution of this system of inequalities is a set of points, S. Each point of the set S is called a feasible solution. The objective function can be evaluated for different feasible solutions and the maximum or minimum values obtained. Graph (Linear): A linear graph consists of a number of nodes or junction points, each joined to some or all of the others by arcs or lines.

Availability of faster and flexible computing facilities and the number of qualified OR professionals have enhanced the acceptance and popularity of the discipline. In the country like USA and the UK growth of OR has not been limited, now it has reached to many countries including India.
