The research was conducted at Experimental Garden I, Faculty of Agriculture University Halu Oleo. The study consisted of two factors of treatments laid out in an RBCD-based factorial experimental design. The first factor consisted of four levels of subsurface irrigation (S) (i.e., 0, 4, 8, and 12 cm below the soil surface). The other factor also consisted of four levels of rice husk biochar (B) (i.e., 0, 10, 20, and 30 metric tons ha–1). Each treatment combination was given three replications. The collected data were analyzed with ANOVA and the differences among treatments were tested with DMRT at P=0.05. The study showed that both factors had no interaction effect on all parameters. The subsurface irrigation treatments, however, showed significant effects on plant height (56, 70, 84 DAS), leaf area (56, 70 DAS), flag leaf area, dry weight ...

The nut land needs from year to year continue to increase in line with the increase in number population, nutritional needs of the community, food diversification, and increasing feed and food industry capacity. The present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of bio-organic fertilizers in producing local peanuts (Wadaga) from Muna Island, Indonesia. The randomized block design (RBD) was done with 12 bio-organic fertilizer treatments (T1 to T12) based on arbuscular mycorrhiza fungi (AMF) and cow manure fertilizer (CMF). The variables were viz. pod weight, total pod number, filled pod number, percentage of empty pods, seed number, the weight of 100 seeds, dry seed weight, and productivity were observed. The results of the study showed that the highest average pod weight (55.0 g), total pod number (50.3 pods), filled pod number (46.3 pods), and seed numb...

The study conducted in the Laboratory of Agronomy, Agriculture Faculty, Halu Oleo University. Research arranged in a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 20 rhizobacterial isolates. Analyses of data using analysis of variance to test viability and seed vigor, while the ability of bacteria to produce IAA growth hormones, phosphate solubilization, and nitrogen fixation were analyzed qualitatively. The results showed that the inoculation of the rhizobacterial isolate could increase the vigor and viability of shallot seeds. Rhizobacteria's ability to increase seed viability and vigor both directly and indirectly relates to its ability to produce IAA growth hormone, phosphate solubilization and nitrogen fixing. Of the 20 rhizobacterial isolates, there were 19 isolates that we're able to fix nitrogen, 13 isolates which could solubiliz...

This series of research activities were performed at the Agronomy Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Halu Oleo University, using a completely randomized development system consisting of 4 isolates from 4 districts in Southeast Sulawesi. The isolates obtained were then tested in rice plants for their ability to enhance seed viability and vigor. Rice seeds were prepared and germinated using standard germination procedures with rhizobacterium isolated before analysis. Until the seventh day, the germination of rice seed was reported daily. Treat the seed germination of rice plants, we repeated three times, and a variety test was used to analyze the data collected. If there were variations, Duncan's Multiple Range Test was used to begin the procedure. The results obtained showed a significant improvement in the treatme...

Marginalized land conditions and poor adaptationare the limiting factors in the rate of crop production. Compost fertilizer is one solution in overcoming land problems by combining rice straw waste and chicken manure waste. This research was conducted in the village of Huko-Huko from November 2017 to March 2018 using the Split Plot Design in a Randomized Block Design (RBD). The main plot was the Muna local peanut ecotype (E) consisting of three levels, namely: Wadaga ecotype (E1), Parigi ecotype (E2), and Lasehao (E3) ecotype. Subplot was the compost dosage consisting of four levels: without compost (K0), compost 5 t ha -1 (K1), compost 10 tha -1 (K2) and compost 15 t ha -1 (K3). In total, there were 12 treatment combinations and repeated three times. The results of the study revealed that Rice Straw Compost Fertilizer increased the growth component of the Peanut plant, including the Relative Growth ...

The coastal area is an interface between sea and land areas that influence and influenced by one ... more The coastal area is an interface between sea and land areas that influence and influenced by one another, both biogeophysical and socio-economical. Coastal communities live and carry out various economic and social activities related to coastal areas and oceans. They have been economically categorized into low-income groups that impact their low-purchasing power for food products to fulfill family nutrition. The utilization of backyard land is the best solution to building food security for coastal communities. However, yards in coastal areas face complex environmental problems, especially soil and climatology, which are less supportive of plant growth. This Community Partnership Program (PKM) focuses on empowering communities, especially groups of coastal housewives, on adopting organic waste processing technology into fermented organic waste as soil ameliorant material improving environmental conditions for growing plants in yards. PKM carried out in Subdistrict Talia from June to October 2020. The PRA (Participatory Rural Appraisal) approach, consisting of socialization methods, technical guidance, counseling and mentoring, and laboratory analysis, was applied to increase interest, motivation, enthusiasm, understanding, and community knowledge. The results showed that partners' interest and enthusiasm were relatively high. They have independently processed organic waste into fermented organic waste as a soil ameliorant and applied it into vegetable cultivation in their yards, and consumed the crops.

The problem encountered in most households in this village is that the yard land has not been utilized for the cultivation of plants that are useful for food availability. In addition, household waste is widely available but has not been maximally utilized as raw material for making planting media for cultivated plants. Therefore, community service activities are carried out to increase community knowledge and skills in utilizing yard land for vegetable crop cultivation in order to support food security through modification of agricultural techniques and soil fertility engineering. The method used is socialization and counselling, then practice or demonstration in the field of how to cultivate vegetables to provide real examples to partners. Partner members are continuously encouraged to always be actively involved and become subjects in this activity accompanied by students and a team of lecturers. T...
