RapidEye is the first high-resolution multispectral satellite system that operationally provides a red edge channel. The objective of this study is to test the potential of the RapidEye red edge channel for improving classifications of land-use, investigated at a study site west of Berlin. Based on a scene from July 2009, supervised land-use classifications were performed using different sets of spectral feature input, including and excluding red edge information. The algorithms used are Support Vector Machine as well as Maximum Likelihood. Results indicate that the incorporation of the red edge information can increase classification accuracy. Highest positive effects are observed for vegetation classes in open landscapes, e.g. for bush vegetation.

Non ideal short, open and load (SOL) terminations are positioned at the end of through holes (vias). The combination of via plus termination forms a custom- made standard for printed circuit board measurements. The load standard consists of a soldered 47 Ohm (SMD, 0402, 1%) resistor, a solder bridge is used as a short and for the open the via is left open. The usable bandwidth of the standards is studied with the help of a two-tier calibration method. Comparisons of measurements performed on the same device under test using either the microprobe vendor calibration substrate or the custom-made standards show good correlation in the frequency bandwidth from 10 MHz up to 30 GHz. Index Terms—Two-tier calibration, vector network analyzer, microprobes, calibration standards, multilayer printed circuit boards. I. INTRODUCTION When performing vector network analyzer (VNA) microprobe based measurements engineers aim at shifting the reference (measurement) plane of the measurement equipment as close as possible to the device under test. Often this means that VNAs have to be calibrated up to the microprobe tips. For this purpose several calibration algorithms can be used e.g. SOLT, TRL, LRM (1, 2, 3). Usually, for on-surface measurements on printed circuit boards microprobes are calibrated on microprobe vendor calibration substrates. In this paper the authors present custom-made non ideal short, open and load standards designed on multilayer substrates for extraction of microprobes from on-surface access via based launches. A typical on-surface signal launch is depicted in Fig. 1 where the launching via can be used either for connecting of embedded structures (e.g. striplines) or it can represent the device under test by itself. In both cases when connecting these launches the reference plane is assumed to be at the microprobe tips. In order to achieve this aim two microprobe deembedding techniques are applied here: two-tier calibration and deembedding by desegmentation (4, 5). The comparison to measurement results obtained with help of a conventional SOLT calibration method has been used for investigation of the bandwidth limits and disadvantages of the proposed non ideal custom-made terminations.

To eliminate this via-plane coupling, ground vias are added adjacent to the signal via. This paper discusses the impact of the ground vias as a function of the number of the ground vias, their locations, and the

As a contribution to evaluate the additional information content of intra-annual high spatial resolution satellite images the presented study assesses the significance of the classification accuracy for the identification of land-cover data. An Microarray Significance Analysis (MSA) was used to evaluate a sequence of nearest neighbor classifications (with training areas from field spectral measurements and existing geo-data) using image combinations of different dates and spectral bands for the utilized land cover classes. The resulting microarray of accuracy percentages of single classes and the overall classification was used for the subsequent MSA. The results from the MSA showed a higher significance when more images were included in the classification process. Especially the scene from September 2009 indicated a positive significance within the land-cover classification.
