The ESO Public Survey "VISTA Variables in the Vía Láctea" (VVV) provides deep multi-epoch infrared observations for unprecedented 562 sq. degrees of the Galactic bulge, and adjacent regions of the disk. Aims. The VVV observations will foster the construction of a sample of Galactic star clusters with reliable and homogeneously derived physical parameters (e.g., age, distance, and mass, etc.). In this first paper in a series, the methodology employed to establish cluster parameters for the envisioned database are elaborated upon by analysing four known young open clusters: Danks 1, Danks 2, RCW 79, and DBS 132. The analysis offers a first glimpse of the information that can be gleaned from the VVV observations for clusters in the final database. Methods. Wide-field, deep JHK s VVV observations, combined with new infrared spectroscopy, are employed to constrain fundamental parameters for a subset of clusters. Results. Results are inferred from VVV near-infrared photometry and numerous low resolution spectra (typically more than 10 per cluster). The high quality of the spectra and the deep wide-field VVV photometry enables us to precisely and independently determine the characteristics of the clusters studied, which we compare to previous determinations. An anomalous reddening law in the direction of the Danks clusters is found, specifically E(J − H)/E(H − Ks) = 2.20 ± 0.06, which exceeds published values for the inner Galaxy. The G305 star forming complex, which includes the Danks clusters, lies beyond the Sagittarius-Carina spiral arm and occupies the Centaurus arm. Finally, the first deep infrared colour-magnitude diagram of RCW 79 is presented, which reveals a sizeable pre-main sequence population. A list of candidate variable stars in G305 region is reported. Conclusions. This study demonstrates the strength of the dataset and methodology employed, and constitutes the first step of a broader study which shall include reliable parameters for a sizeable number of poorly characterised and/or newly discovered clusters.

The SLAM works with normalized synthetic spectra, in which<br> wavelength and flux vectors must be provided in a comma-separated values (CSV) file.

This model reproduces the available observations ranging from optical to UV. The combined approach to the modeling process produces more constraints and thus more trustworty results. After obtaining the model, we perform a comparative study of the chemical composition of He, N, O, Ne, Cl, and S in the nebula and its central star. Concluding that the stellar composition agrees with the nebular composition with t2 ≠ 0.00.

The models were calculated using the ABACUS I supercomputer and the stellar atmosphere code CMFGEN. The parameter space has 6 dimensions: surface temperature of the star, also called the effective temperature (\(T_\mathrm{eff}\)), luminosity (L), metallicity (Z), and three stellar wind parameters, the exponent (\(\beta \)) of the wind velocity law, the terminal velocity (\(V_{\infty }\)), and the volume filling factor (\(F_{cl}\)). For each model, we also calculate synthetic spectra in the UV (900–2,000 A), optical (3,500–7,000 A), and near IR (10,000–30,000 A) ranges. For comparison with observations, the synthetic spectra were rotationally broaden using ROTIN3, by covering the range between 10 and 350 km s\(^{-1}\) wi...
Using public data of the Ultraviolet and Visual Echelle Spectrograph Paranal Observatory Project ... more Using public data of the Ultraviolet and Visual Echelle Spectrograph Paranal Observatory Project (UVES POP) the projected rotational velocities, v sin i, for 16 stars in the eld of the galactic cluster IC 2391 (o Vel Cluster) were obtained using the method of the Fourier transform (FT). We found that only 12 of these objects are cluster members and separating them in two sets (main sequence stars and evolved stars) a correlation of the rotation velocity with the eectiv e temperature was found, indicating a nearly equal orientation of the rotation axis for the member stars. The ratios N/C and O/C obtained for the main sequence stars increase with v sin i and show evidence of mixing induced by rotation.

The aim of this work is to use the planetary nebula NGC 7009 as a test of the stellar evolution models, by making simultaneous models of the nebula and its central star; the parameters obtained through models are supported by the semi-analytical study of the nebula. This type of work yields a self-consistent model of the whole object imposing more observational constraints to models.

Abstract Objective: this paper focuses on the academic eustress based on a socio-formative approach. Method: documentary research, following the axes of conceptual cartography was used as strategy. Results: the concept of academic eustress was considered taking into account a socio-formative approach. To guide students to a state of academic eustress, in which their academic and emotional competencies help strengthen to respond to academic stressors, an accompanying methodology was developed. 108 high school students who submitted Math partial exam were sampled. The percentage of passing rate increase from 34% to 93%, while insecurity and frustration decreased during the exams submission. Conclusion: the proposed definition of academic eustress remedies a gap found in the literature related to this topic. The accompaniment methodology showed its effectiveness when was applied to a specific case.
