The experimental design was a randomized complete block in a 3x6 factorial arrangement, with three potassium rates (0, 80, and 160 kg ha-1 kg of N) and six corn hybrids (20A55Hx, 30A77PW, AG1051, MG652PW, NS90VTPro2, and NS92VTPro), with three replicates. The data were analyzed through the analysis of canonical variables. Nitrogen doses interfere directly with the tolerance and resistance conferred by the Cry proteins of the plants in corn hybrids, altering the control of the caterpillar Spodoptera frugiperda and possibly favoring the breakdown of resistance in low availability. The corn hybrids showed divergent performance regarding proteins under low nitrogen availability (0 and 80 kg ha-1), and it was impossible to state which would be the most efficient protein. However, pyramiding has gre...

Despite the consumer market demand for quality, cultivars are not launched every crop season and there is a small number of cultivars available to growers. This denotes a need for breeding programs focused on generating information and genotypes that can occupy this market niche. The objective of this work was to evaluate the progress of five cycles of intrapopulation recurrent selection in half-sib progenies of fresh corn, in the southwest region of Goiás. A randomized block experimental design was used, with evaluation of 64 progenies of corn half-sib progenies and selection intensity of 30% per cycle, with three replications, in the 2011-2012, 2013-2014, 2015-2016, 2017-2018, and 2020-2021 summer crop seasons. The half-sib progenies of fresh corn exhibited genetic variability through intrapopulation recurrent selection in the different selection cycl...

The experiment was conducted between March and June 2018 on the farm of the State University of Goiás, University Unit of Ipameri-GO. The randomized block design, arranged in a 3 x 5 factorial scheme with four replications, was used. Three fertilizer formulations at planting (06-22-12; 08-20-15 and 06-22-12 + 2% organic carbon) and five doses of N (0, 50, 100, 150 and 200 kg ha-1) in topdressing were evaluated. Leaf nitrogen content, fresh and dry mass of leaves, plant height, stem diameter, first ear insertion height, length and diameter of ears, 1000-grain weight, the mass of plants per hectare, extraction of nitrogen, and grain yield were assessed. Given the results, NPK formulated fertilizers can be used indifferently to grow second-crop corn. Nitrogen doses in topdressing have satisfactory results up to the e...

This study aimed to evaluate the performance of experimental double hybrids of fresh corn intended to in natura consumption grown under low and high P availability. A randomized blocks experimental design was used, in a 2 × 21 factorial arrangement, consisting of two P availabilities (37.5 and 75 mg dm−3 of P2O5) and 21 corn hybrids, with 9 replications. The following variables were evaluated: ear insertion height, plant height, male and female flowering, ear length and diameter, grain weight, husked and unhusked ear weight. The best quality and yield for the corn market focused on in natura consumption were observed for the experimental double hybrids DH94 and DH102 under low P availability and for DH71 and DH81 under high P availability. The DH81 hybrid performs better for the consumer market, regardless of the P availability, and, therefo...

Applications of strains of Trichoderma spp. increase the plants' tolerance to abiotic stresses, including tolerance to low or excess levels of nutrients such as boron (B). Thus, the objective of this work was to evaluate plant development and the effect of strains of Trichoderma spp. in Schizolobium parahyba var. amazonicum seedlings grown under different boron rates. A randomized block experimental design was used, with a 4×5 factorial scheme, consisting of 4 strains of Trichoderma spp. and 5 B rates (0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 mg dm-3), with seven replications, in greenhouse. Plant height, stem diameter, fresh and dry mass, leaf, stem and total were evaluated at 120 days after emergence. The stains of Trichoderma spp. and B rates pre...

Three experiments derived from the same population (MV-003) were conducted to assess the ability of progenies to absorb nutrients, one under adequate fertilization (control; MV-006), one under low nitrogen availability (N; MV-006N), and one under low phosphorus availability (P; MV-006P). The experiments were carried out in randomized blocks, with 64 half-sib progenies and three replications for each nutritional condition. Chlorophyll index, plant height, ear insertion, ear diameter, ear length, unhusked ear yield, and marketable husked ear were evaluated. The populations showed variability for the three nutrient availability conditions. The variability reduced after only three selection cycles; thus, evaluating a higher number of halfsib progenies, above 64, under low N and P availability is indicated. The rates used to identify the most efficient progenies in breeding programs should be close to the appropriate one, with a slow reduction after the selection cycles. The variability will be thus maintained, with a greater possibility of identifying more promising progenies. In addition, the frequency of favorable alleles increases more gradually and effectively. The N and P rate of 60 kg ha-1 is not indicated as a critical level for the initial phase of the program.

The experiment applied the completely randomized block design with three replications, during 2013-14 and 2014-15 crops. Ten hybrids indicated for the Midwest region of Goiás state were used, namely 2B512PW, 2B587PW, 2B707PW, 30F35HR, 30F53YH, BRS1055, BM3061, P3646H and P3862YH. Hybrid AG1051 was used as control. The studied variables were ear height (EH), unhusked ear productivity (UEP), husked ear productivity (HEP), marketable ear productivity (MEP), marketable ear length (MEL), marketable ear diameter (MED), grain mass (GM), and gross revenue (GR). Records show that hybrid P3646H achieved results lower than the control in all the analyzed variables, regardless of the crop season, whereas hybrids 2B512PW, BRS1055 and P3862YH showed figures similar to AG1051 in 2013/14 crop and lower ones in 2014/15. Therefore, would not represent di...
