It aims to reveal the role of Turkish non-governmental organizations (NGOs) organized and operating in Germany in the political participation of the Turkish diaspora. For this purpose, it focuses on the activities of NGOs for the federal elections held in Germany on September 26, 2021. It was designed as a case study from qualitative research methods. As a result of the analysis of the data obtained within the scope of the research, it has revealed that the NGOs included in the study sample not only encourage and increase the political participation of the Turkish diaspora in Germany and encourage the members of Turkish diaspora to vote for political parties that defend their interests, but also serve as a bridge between the Turkish diaspora and the politics of Germany.

Accordingly, this study subjects the exchangees who migrated to Mustafapaşa Village of Nevşehir and their following generations that lived in this village for a hundred years. It aims to scrutinize the exchangees’ knowledge about compulsory migration across generations. Therefore, a fieldwork study was conducted in Mustafapaşa including observations and interviews with 50 exchangees. The data obtained from the field were subjected to content analysis and presented around the thematic framework of the study. The findings revealed that although the knowledge of customs and traditions decreased from generation to generation, the exchangee identity continued to be pr...

It is the second film directed by Saylak, one of the most well-known actors in Turkey. Saylak explains that he directed this film with the motivation that cinema should teach people and the aim that makes the audience consider the topic of the film. Daha takes place in Kandalı, a fictional town on the Aegean coast of Turkey where migrant smuggling is intense. It indicates the journey of the migrant smuggled by sea, and presents the migrant smuggling networks and the actors who have different roles in this network: the smuggler, the leader of the safe house, and the boat owners. Such themes related to migrant smuggling networks and related challenges of border governance are broadly treated in academic studies (Başlar 2018; İçduygu 2021; Arslan et al. 2021; Yıldız 2021). These themes have also started to be the subject of films, and Daha is one unforgettable example.

The book Unending Migration: From Guest-Worker to Transnational Citizenship by Nermin Abadan-Unat, who is the most prominent and well-known scholar in the field of migration, provides information on how migration typologies have changed and a comprehensive explanation for how Turkey's migration experience gained new forms. In the book, Abadan-Unat argues the repercussions of migration on Turkish society and the international arena. She argues that migration, which was merely related to demographers initially, has become the main topic of national and international policies of all developed and developing countries, and will remain on the agenda for a long time (p. 48). She presents the immigrants with the identity of transnational citizenship through either the form of demographic data or a case study. This book, the product of her studies on the history of Turkey's migration experiences for 50 years, is written with the target of examining theoretical discussions and empirical researches (p. 4).
