We discuss the architectural organization of video server, and we propose a new architecture called Split-Proxy. The handling of video streams through the use of an OODBMS is then described. Finally, experimental results to evaluate the performance of the proposed solution are shown and commented.

Hereditary deficiencies of these three enzymes in humans are related to three different forms of the genetic disease globally called "galactosemia". The impairment of GALK causes Galactosemia Type II, whereas GALT deficiency causes the disease called Classic Galactosemia, and finally GALE deficiency is linked to Galactosemia type III or Galactose Epimerase deficiency. The clinical manifestations of each enzyme deficiency differ markedly: patients with GALK deficiency, for example, have the mildest clinical consequences, while Classic Galactosemia is potentially lethal in infancy, if undiagnosed and/or untreated, and is also associated with long-term, organ-specific complications. The impairment of these ...

As well, constraints have been assuming an ever more relevant role in modeling distributed systems as long as business rules implementation, designby-contract practice, and fault-tolerance requirements are concerned. Nevertheless, component developers are not sufficiently supported by existing tools to implement these features. We address such a deficiency and we propose some implementation patterns to translate constraint models into source code and two automatic tools: the Component Constraint Modeler (CoCoMod) and the Component Constraint Generator (CoCoGen). CoCoMod enables designers to specify both component interfaces and constraints as visual UML models and automatically generates textual models for interfaces and constraints. CoCoGen executes the implementation patters to translate constraint models into source code. A simple case study is presented in order to show an application of the proposed approach.

Besides a list of missense mutations at gene and protein sequence levels, GALT-Prot reports the analysis results of mutant GALT structures. In addition to the structural information about the wild-type enzyme, the database also includes structures of over 100 single point mutants simulated by means of a computational procedure, and the analysis to each mutant was made with several bioinformatics programs in order to investigate the ef fect of the mutations. The web-based interface allows querying of the database, and several links are also provided in order to guarantee a high integration with other resources already present on the web. Moreover, the architecture of the database and the web application is f lexible and can be easily adapted to store data related to other proteins with point mutations. GALT-Prot is freely available at http://bioinformatica.isa.cnr.it/GALT/.
