AQUAECO Plant consists of AQUAECO-SRORS (filtration and separation) and AQUAECO-ZEDS (evaporation). AQUAECO-SRORS is a patented system that separates raw sludge into 3 components: oil, solids and water: (a) Oil in the light phase from AQUAECO-SRORS' 3-phase decanter will be directed to the mill's vertical clarifier for recovery. (b) Suspended solid is removed as decanter cake. (c) The resultant clear filtrate which has 2.5%-3.0% dissolved solids, with about 70% reduction in COD and BOD is either discharged to effluent ponds for treatment with ease to attain the BOD for discharge, or evaporated to provide mills with zero effluent discharge. AquaEco-ZEDS combine several evaporation technologies to evaporate the filtrate. Spent steam from the mill's back pressure vessel is used to heat up the filtrate to 98 o C in the 1 st column to initiate evaporation. Filtrate in 2 nd to 4 th columns are evaporated at 85 o C, 70 o C and 55 o C respectively by the vapor from the first and subsequent columns through negative pressure. Evaporated water is condensed, recovered and recycled for mill used. Steam of about 5.8 t is required for every 20.0 t of filtrate. The recovered water could provide up to 65%-70% of the water required by the mill for processing. AquaEco plant is a green and sustainable technology that zero-rises effluent discharge, minimizes carbon footprint, and reduces water footprint. It is a self-paying solution to mills' prevailing effluent problem with 5 years to 6 years payback period
