APL constitutes around 10-15 % of acute myeloid leukemia in adults. It is commonly diagnosed around 40 years age. Molecular/genetic studies exhibit chromosomal translocation between chromosome 15 and chromosome 17-t(15;17)(q22;q21) and PML-RARa rearrangement. Four variants of APL have been identified: The classic form…

We present a rare case of paratubal borderline serous tumour in a young adolescent female presenting clinically as an omental cyst. Case Report: A 14-year old unmarried female presented with abdominal pain in right iliac fossa. MRI revealed a well demarcated space occupying lesion in the pelvis almost in midline measuring 12x11x8cm. Lesion was abutting and displacing overlying bowel loops with likely adhesions suggestive of complex omental cyst. The patient underwent cystectomy. The final histopathologic report confirmed the cyst as Paratubal atypical proliferative serous tumour. Conclusion: We experience a rare case of atypical proliferative serous tumour of paratubal origin. The patient was youngest than any of the other cases reported in the literature. Fertility sparing surgery should be considered as a standard treatment of borderline paratubal tumour, if patient desires future fertility.

The Milan system for reporting salivary gland cytopathology (MSRSGC) was introduced to provide a guide for diagnosis and management of salivary gland lesions according to risk of malignancy (ROM) in different categories. Methods: A 5-year retrospective study was conducted to reclassify the salivary gland lesions from previous diagnosis. Clinical data, FNAC, and histopathology report was retrieved and cases were reclassified according to the Milan system of classification. Risk of malignancy was calculated for each category. The positive predictive value, negative predictive value, and diagnostic accuracy of FNAC was calculated. Results: A total of 314 cases were evaluated cytologically. Histopathology was available in 81 cases. The distribution of cases in different categories according to the Milan system was 1.27% (Cat I), 48.4% (Cat II), 1.91% (Cat ...

They can arise from any myelinated nerve. The pre-operative diagnosis of schwannoma is difficult and should be suggested by clinical features and supported by investigations based on techniques such as ultrasonography, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging, and fine-needle aspiration cytology. Schawannomas can present with very subtle symptoms or morbid sequel. A 19-year-old male patient presented with 6 months history of swelling in the upper left side part of the neck. Local examination showed a 5 cm A— 3 cm single globular mass in the left suboccipital region. The contrast enhanced CT scan showed a 44 mm A— 46 mm A— 39 mm well defined heterogeneous mildly enhancing mass on the left side of the upper three cervical vertebras abutting them. The mass was excised under general anesthesia by transcervical approach. After extensive search of English literature we came across only three case reports where schwannoma of greater occipital nerve presented with neuralgia.
