Therefore, the new vehicles provide various benefits, including convenience, efficiency, sustainability, and economy. The present study concerns a comprehensive review of vehicle electrification solutions. Indeed, the major electric vehicle technologies are presented. Moreover, based on several research works from the literature, the main electrification solutions are illustrated, including degree of electrification, battery system management, onboard chargers, and power converters. In addition, these solutions, as well as the open challenges, are discussed and evaluated.
Critical embedded systems (CES) have become ubiquitous in whether medical, automotive, or industr... more Critical embedded systems (CES) have become ubiquitous in whether medical, automotive, or industrial. Software failures in such systems are potentially disastrous and could lead to serious consequences not only financially but also life-threatening. However, besides their omnipresence, CES complexity have grown to extreme measures, faced with this increase, manufacturers and suppliers are increasingly interested in effective methods of testing logical correctness and verifying that software parts are error-free. Software testing is a collection of methods used to detect and correct bugs and faults found in software code. The first stage of software testing is unit testing, a widely used technique where individual units of source code are isolated, often divided up into classes and functions, and tested separately to aid in the verification of the behavior and functionality of the system. In this chapter, an overview of GoogleTest (GTest), a xUnit C++ testing framework will be performed, and a comparison of different available unit test frameworks for use in the C++ language. On account of the complexity provided by critical embedded systems, it is difficult to isolate and test the system's behavior, mocking techniques were considered to enable a real implementation to be replaced with a fake implementation, the replacement allowed to overcome the challenges related to hardware dependencies and external factors. Further, this chapter describes GoogleMock, a part of GoogleTest C++ testing framework that makes the tests run in isolation.

L'objectif de ce travail est de réaliser un modèle de cellules photovoltaïques (PV) dédié à l'ens... more L'objectif de ce travail est de réaliser un modèle de cellules photovoltaïques (PV) dédié à l'enseignement des énergies renouvelables en utilisant le logiciel PSIM. Ce modèle est basé sur les valeurs nominales fournies par le fabricant, à savoir : tension à vide, courant de court-circuit, tension et courant correspondant au point de puissance maximale. Le modèle ainsi obtenu offre la possibilité de mieux rendre compte de l'influence des différentes grandeurs physiques notamment la température, l'irradiation, la résistance en série, la résistance shunt et le courant de saturation de la diode. Après une présentation générale de la chaîne de conversion photovoltaïque, l'article détaille, dans un premier temps, la modélisation d'un panneau photovoltaïque. Dans un deuxième, nous nous intéressons à l'implémentation d'un contrôleur afin de commander le convertisseur DC/DC pour permettre au générateur photovoltaïque de fonctionner à son maximum de puissance (MPP).

Direct torque control (DTC) of Doubly Fed Induction Machine (DFIM) has large torque ripples and i... more Direct torque control (DTC) of Doubly Fed Induction Machine (DFIM) has large torque ripples and inconstant switching frequency, especially at low speed. This paper proposes an enhanced DTC method based on fuzzy logic technique. In order to improve the drawbacks of this conventional DTC and overcome the robustness problems against parametric variations of the DFIM, the switching tables and conventional PI regulator of speed are elaborated by the reasoning of fuzzy logic. A very detailed analysis of simulation results of the system in Matlab/Simulink environment is performed to the regarding to speed variation, reference tracking and robustness against system parameters variations. These results show the efficiency and robustness of this fuzzy logic controller for enhancing the performance of the DTC control of DFIM.

However, under partial shading conditions, the PV cells/panels do not receive uniform insolation due to several power maxima appear on the PV array's P-V characteristic, a global MPP (GMPP) and two or more local MPPs (LMPPs). In this scenerio, conventional MPPT methods, including pertub and observe (P&Օ) and incremental conductance (INC), fail to differentiate between a GMPP and a LMPP, as they converge on the MPP that makes contact first, which in most cases is one of the LMPPs. This results in considerable energy loss. To address this issue, this paper introduces a new MPPT method based on the Seagull Optimization Algorithm (SOA) to operate PV systems at GMPP with high efficiency. In this paper, we are interested in improving the production efficiency for electric energy extra... more In this paper, we are interested in improving the production efficiency for electric energy extracted from a wind turbine, based on a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) that we want to improve the performance by means of direct torque control with space vector modulation (DTC-SVM). The choice of this control comes from the deficiencies inherent to the conventional DTC, which includes variable switching frequency, torque ripple and implementation complexity. First we focuse on the wind energy conversion system (WECS) modeling using the PMSG machine, as well as the detailed study for the control DTC-SVM operating principle. Then, system performance is tested and compared by simulation in the MATLAB/Simulink in terms of follow instructions, robustness to the variations of the external system elements, and effectiveness of the expected method.

This wristband can be powered automatically by the movement of the user’s hand or by solar cells or, if necessary, by a power outlet. It disinfects the surface of the hands and the objects in front of them using an ultraviolet (UV) lamp. Control and monitoring can be carried out automatically or manually, which guarantees complete and effective disinfection. The electronic control system, which is fully integrated into the UV emitter head, regulates the intensity and duration of the UV radiation and also manages the electrical energy. Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, along with economies of scale and advances in hardware, so... more Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, along with economies of scale and advances in hardware, software, and network technologies, have accelerated the explosion of connected objects across the Internet. A connected object can be controlled online from an IoT platform and can send, receive, and process various and varied data. In this chapter, we leverage some of the IoT technologies to propose a simple and low-cost IoT solution to monitor and control a smart dual-axis solar tracker system for performance evaluation. The solution also includes alert notifications to inform a remote user through phone or mail (or both) when a sensor has reached a certain predefined event. Often, they use simulation tools to assess the performance of their MPPT algorithms before actual implementation. In this context, this paper aims to propose a trusted simulation of a PV system designed under Proteus software. The proposed PV simulator can be used to verify and evaluate the performance of MPPT algorithms with a closer approximation to the real implementation. The main advantage of this model that it contains a real microcontroller, as can be found in reality, so that same code for the MPPT algorithm used in the simulation will be used in real implementation. This model is based on ratings provided by the manufacturer as: open circuit voltage, short circuit current, voltage and current corresponding to the maximum power point. So the resulting model has a better approach and takes into account the influence of different physical parameters including temperature, irradiation, series resistance, shunt resistance and saturation current of the diode. After a general presentation of the photovoltaic conversion chain, the article details, at first, the modeling of a photovoltaic panel. Secondly, we focus on the implementation of a MPPT command for controlling the DC / DC to operate the PV array at maximum power (MPP).

This paper presents a low-cost solution of virtual instrumentation to provide a new technique for... more This paper presents a low-cost solution of virtual instrumentation to provide a new technique for real-time instrumentation of the PV panel characteristics such as voltage, current and power. The system design is based on a low-cost Arduino acquisition board. The acquisition is made through a low-cost current and voltage sensors, and data are presented in Excel by using the PLX-DAQ data acquisition Excel Macro, which allows communication between the ATMega328 microcontroller of an Arduino UNO board and the computer by UART bus. Hence, the I-V and P-V characteristics, which processed under real-time conditions, can be obtained directly and plotted on an Excel spreadsheet without needing to reprogram the microcontroller. A comparison between this low-cost virtual instrumentation and the traditional instrumentation is drawn in this work. It is found that our solution presents several benefits compared to the traditional solution such as the data can be presented in graphical form in real time. Thus, several experimental tests to confirm the effectiveness of the developed virtual instrumentation system are presented in this study.
