What Our Summer Looks Like - SWAT Design Team

This week's challenge over at SWAT was to scrap about our summer. This layout definitely pinpoints what most of my summer was about. The girls and their friends! They spent their whole vacation together. Our place. Their place. Our pool. Their jungle gym. Makeup. Dress up. Playing Mommy. They sure had a great time!

Make sure you link up with SWAT if you take on this challenge. We'd love to see what you come up with!

I used a sketch from My Scraps & More. thanks for the inspiration!

Papers: Studio Calico (South of Market), Echo Park (Capture Life)
 Printable: The Cut Shoppe
Letters: Echo Park (Capture Life) and Lily Bee

16 March 2011

Hello again everyone! Today, I'm sharing a very simple layout that I absolutely love. That picture of Zoey when she was barely 10 days-old is awww-inducing, isn't it? I can't believe I hadn't scrapbooked it yet!

I started with sketch #401 from Scrapbook Challenges, turned it on it's side, and reduced the quantity of squares. I was going to use 9 squares, but as I was going through my stash (I'm trying to use up what I have before I buy anything else!), I found this old Jillibean Soup kraft journaling tag that I absolutely wanted to use. So I made it work.

Supplies:
Papers, button, and sticker: My Mind's Eye
Journaling tag: Jillibean Soup
Tag: Maya Road
Numbers: American Crafts
Border sticker: Basic Grey
Twine: The Twinery

Castle

Good afternoon everybody!

Today, I'm sharing this layout with you. The picture is from last year. The girls were so proud of this castle they collaborated on!

I started with the July sketch from The Memory Nest. Leslie from TMN has been a loyal commentor on my blog and I appreciate every single one of her comments! I'm glad to finally be participating in one of her challenges!

I also joined in the "Let's Go Shopping" challenge over at Scrap Our Stash. They offered a list of scrap items from which I had to choose 5+ and use them on my layout. Here is what I chose:

-washi tape (I especially love how it looks on the wood veneer embellishment)
-striped paper (all papers here are Imaginisce)
-buttons
-dimentional sticker
-wood veneer
-die-cut (sunshine, matted and pop dotted)
-rub-on (butterflies)

It was nice to make a small dent in my stash!

Emiant et autres mots

Good afternoon everybody! Today is a special post for me because I'm introducing new flair from my awesome pal Isabelle. It worked perfectly for this layout.

In case you didn't know, my family is bilingual (french/english). These are a few of the adorably-wrong words my daughter says at three years old.

I used the June sketch from My Creative Sketches. I'm too much of a perfectionist, the triangles took forever to measure and cut out! But I like the end result.

Papers are Elle's Studio. Thanks for looking!

You Know How to Have Fun

Hello everybody! Today I'm sharing a fun layout I made with Scrapbook Circle 's June kit, Hello There. I love the background paper with the hexagons!

The kit came with a pack of  BasicGrey die-cuts and transparencies. For some reason, I don't use these types of embellishments very much. One here and there, but surely not enough to buy a whole pack. So I thought it would be wasted on me. When I saw the challenge over at Child's Play Challenges, I knew what to do. The challenge is to be inspired by the classic game Colorforms. The toy I linked seems to be vinyl; the one I had when I was little was felt. It was random shapes that you'd place on a board to create a scene.

When I saw the challenge, I was inspired to use the different-shaped die-cuts on my layout. And I used a LOT! I'm really, really happy how this turned out. Thanks for having a look!

Zoey & Coralie

Hello There! Sharing a layout I made with Scrapbook Circle's latest main kit called, quite appropriately,  Hello There.

This is a picture I took a couple of weeks ago of Zoey and her friend, Coralie. They always have a lot of fun together, it's so sweet to see :)

I used Let Get Sketchy's June Week 2 sketch as a base for this layout. The papers were also perfect for Scrapbook Challenges' June Mood Board Challenge. Thanks for the inspiration!

Cheezy Grin

Hello everyone! Here's a layout I made with the American Crafts Dear Lizzy line Daydreamer. I won this AC prize from a Scrapbook Circle challenge and it was fun to use!

Again, I used a sketch by Laura Whitaker for the June - Week 3 challenge over at Let's Get Sketchy. Thanks for the inspiration!

What a Sweet Girl

Good morning! Yesterday I worked on this layout for this month's challenge at Creative Embellishments. I had this gorgeous CE frame that I really wanted to use. I sprayed it with Bubblegum Pink Dylusions and it worked perfectly with the papers from this My Mind's Eye collection, My Girl. I love the end result!

The Dog with the Sequins

NSD was last weekend and this is one of the three layouts I created that day. Sorry it looks fuzzy, I didn't feel like photographing it again when I noticed.

I used sketch #114 from Sketchabilities as a starting point.

Thanks for stopping by!

Lucky You - Scrapbook Challenges GDT Sketch #384

Today marks my last day as Guest DT for Scrapbook Challenges. I had a great time and I will definitely take part in their future challenges!

This is my take on sketch #384, Lucky You:
Darn, forgot to add the date...

This is my daughter Zoey with my brother-in-law Pascal, her Godfather. He always lights up when she's around; I love seeing them together.

I used a prompt from Mojo Hunting. I dug out my journaling tags and used 2 of them on here. One to write on and one to embellish.

Supplies:
Papers: Authentic (Journey and Abroad)
Journaling tags: Jillibean Soup and unknown (I want to say Making Memories? Anyone?)
Cork shapes: Pink Paislee
Burlap buttons: Nikki Sivils
Letters: American Crafts and My Mind's Eye
Ink: Quick Quotes

You Make Me Smile - Scrapbook Circle February Kit

If I'm not mistaken, I made 5 layouts with Scrapbook Circle's February kit. Although the colours threw me off a little bit at first (not because they weren't nice, but because it's much softer than what I am used to work with), I ended up loving it! The one thing I couldn't figure out how to use were those Maya Road DIY Arrow stickers. Then I saw DT member Jenni Calma's layout featuring the arrows and I was inspired!

The confetti on  Life. Paper. Scrapbook's February Mood Board inspired me to use the wooden embellishments and the enamel hearts scattered on my layout.

Scrapbook Challenges Guest DT - Sketch #381

Hello everyone! I was the lucky January winner over at Scrapbook Challenges and I was asked to be Guest DT for the next four challenges. Thank you so much!

Here's sketch #381:

And here is my take on it:

This is a great sketch to use up some of your scraps. After I chose these pictures of Zoey when she was 4 months old, I took out this Echo park collection, Here and Now, one of my favourites ever. I didn't cut into a new sheet at all, I only used the scraps I had. Awesome!

Make sure you check out today's post at Scrapbook Challenges to see the Design Team's take on the sketch!

Supplies:
Papers and stickers: Echo Park (Here and Now)
Background paper: Bella! (Kinda Krafty)

The Hats

Here's another layout I created for a sketch challenge. This one is #64 for My Scraps & More. I deviated from he sketch about a quarter through, but the inspiration is definitely there. I love this Simple Stories collection, Daily Grind.

All products are from Simple Stories (Daily Grind) except for the camera, which you can download for free at U Printables. Buttons are from my stash.

Practical Scrappers February Sketch Reveal

Recently, I've been working a lot with sketches. They got me out of my funk and I started scrapbooking more and more. Sketches are a great starting point to give you some mojo. Then just add your own twist and you're good to go!

This month at Practical Scrappers, we have this wonderful sketch by Christine Meyer to get you going.

And here's my take on it:

I took this picture via Instagram in the Summer after Zoey came out of the pool. I sat on the deck, wrapped her in a towel and kept her warm in my arms.  I've made a huge effort to be in more pictures with my kids. When I'm gone, I'm sure they'll be happy to have pictures of me no matter how bad I might think I look.

As you can see, I embraced the heart theme. I used a large stencil and some Dylusions for the large heart and created 3D paper hearts.

As for this Bella Blvd collection? I love every single piece of it! It's full of happy!! So fun to work with.

Make sure you check out what else the DT has come up with, and don't forget to share your own layouts with us!

Supplies:
Papers, stickers, letters: Bella Blvd (Snapshots)
Frame: Jillibean Soup
Dylusions spray

Peek Into Christmas

Here it is, my last layout of the year 2013. I took this picture of Zoey a bit earlier in the month and I couldn't wait to scrap it!

I used a sketch from the always awesome Kristine Davidson for Creative Scrappers. It's sketch #257. I stayed almost 100% true to the sketch, something I rarely do, but I appreciated the simplicity today! No muss, no fuss, just a sweet memory down on paper :)

Supplies:
Papers and stickers: Bella Blvd
Letters: American Crafts and BasicGrey
Wood veneers: Studio Calico, Prima, and Creative Embellishments

S.W.A.T. Drill #13 - Trendy Triangles

I'll be honest with you. I've been so busy in the last 6 months that I haven't really looked at scrap magazines and/or scrap blogs. So when I saw that this week's drill was called Trendy Triangles, I thought: "Triangles are trendy?" So I decided to look around and I realized I had been living under a rock, lol!

So I happily tackled this trend in my usual clean and simple style.

I am really happy with how this turned out. This is one of my favorite pictures of Zoey, and I wanted to do it justice. I probably wouldn't thought of the triangles if it wasn't for this drill, so I'm really glad I did it!

Oh, and those amazing wood chips by Freckled Fawn? I squealed when I saw them at my local scrapbook store. I had been wanting to order them from FF, but they were always out of stock. I used them the very same day I bought them :)

Make sure you take on this Trendy Triangles drill and share it with us on the SWAT blog for a chance to win a 20$ gift card to 3 scrappy boys!

Supplies:
Papers and stickers: Here and Now collection by Lori Whitlock for Echo Park
Wood chips: Freckled Fawn
Dylusions spray
Prima chalk ink

Thanks for dropping by, I really appreciate it!

S.W.A.T. Drill #12: Sketch With a Twist

Hello everyone! We have a great challenge for you over at the SWAT blog.  First, begin with this awesome sketch by our own Lanette:

Then, don't forget this twist: patterned paper only, NO cardstock!

This is my version of this sketch:

I love using patterned paper as a background. Visually, I like it better than plain cardstock. I decided to use this old-but-oh-so-awesome star paper from Scenic Route (oh how I loved SR!) I bought every sheet I could when they were in the store, and this is my second to last sheet. I love it!

The rest of the papers are from My Mind's Eye, the Collectable collection (Notable colour scheme, I believe). Jillibean Soup letter stickers for the title, WRMK star roller stamp, Sharpie white pen for the stars, a bit of Bella Blvd paper tape and Voila!

Make sure to enter your own version of this challenge on the SWAT linky by July 28th to be entered to win a Webster's Pages grab bag!

The Fingers

I am slowly catching up posting the layouts I have made in the last year.  I've been creating a lot, but I've slightly neglected my little blog. You know how it is, right?

So here is one with a September 2012 picture of Zoey. I used Lucky 7 Factory papers, I thought they worked so well with Zoey's dress.

Supplies:
Papers: Lucky 7 Factory
Journaling Tag: Studio Calico
Punch: Fiskars
Twine: The Twinery
