Not for "flute, strings and basso continuo" since the bass part is not a basso continuo part- none of the 6/4 numbers, etc.!... to build chords from, very specifically for double bass, not chitarrone etc. ...

According to the notes to Hyperion's recording, a letter from Spohr to Moritz Hauptmann dated 9 November 1847 states that Spohr had just completed the symphony. Discussed by Brown (Louis Spohr: A Critical Biography) pp.306-309 particularly.
