Color Dare #602 - 12th Anniversary Celebration

This is my Design Team project for ColorMyHeart Color Dare #602 "Triple Play" for our 12th Anniversary Celebration. In homage we are doing an updated take on those original colors. While I was looking for a sketch to combine with our color challenge, the CTMH "Just Chicken In" was sitting in my space beckening me to use. When I selected the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #578 there was a floral on the same stamp set which was perfect for this sketch. Even though I wanted to use chicks; just couldn't see chicks in these color... so the chicks will sit there for another challenge and I'll use the floral.

The floral was stamped using Memento black ink on Wisteria (one on dark side and the other on the light side) and another one stamped in Royal. The Royal floral was fussy-cut for the base of the floral. The light Wisteria was fussy-cut for the inner part of the daffodil and the dark Wisteria was fussy-cut for the outer part of the daffodil. The Wisteria pieces were added to Royal floral base with glue and some parts with thin 3-D foam tape for dimension.

Periwinkle is one of my favorite colors. We had a Periwinkle car way back in the 90's because I wanted a purple car. My husband was hesitant; but we purchased it. There were times I would wander around a parking lot looking for my Periwinkle car but in daytime light it was more blue than purple and there weren't remotes at that time to lead you to your car. So... there were difficult times when looking for my car; but it wasn't difficult to choose the background papers in Periwinkle, border them with the Royal and place them as in the sketch on the card base.

The focal point and sentiment frames were cut, one with patterned paper and the other in Royal cardstock, modified using a stitched rectangle frame.

On the inside of the card base the right-hand border was a strip of Royal cardstock, zip strip and another strip of the same background patterned paper.  Please hop on over and join us at Color Dare's Color Board #602 for our 12th Annniversary, check out the Design Teams inspiration and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

Sweet Holiday Wishes "Christmas in July" Santa's Hat

This is my Design Team card for Double Trouble Challenge #143 "Christmas in July" partnering with with Jingle Belles Challenge "Santa's Hat"

Still feeling the heat of Summer in Arizona I linked HERE again to listen to Christmas Carols. When going through my stash... found two cute reindeers, one with a Santa hat already stamped and cut, some patterned paper with Santa Hats and a coordinating polka-dot paper.  Picked up my Copic Sketch pens and started coloring.  Used the two patterned papers for my background and adhered the deer with 3D thin foam tape.

Added little embellishments, a stamped swirl star on Coffee Cup die cut, a Christmas Present which was pieced with two design papers and sentiment  printed on the speech bubble die cut in black ink.

Just Another Day - Birthday Card

Here is a card I made for our son-in-law, who says he's just doesn't want us to celebrate his birthday because it's "Just Another Day"; but mother and father in law are not listening.  After all... each year we celebrate his birthday, it's another birthday together.  Now, how is a non-celebration birthday card created and still be celebrated.  This is how it was accomplished... while putting a new stamp in my inventory the sentiment on CTMH Cape Code-Cardmaking stamp was my inspiration to create the front of the card but use the sentiment for the inside.

Thus... created a belated birthday card I thought our son-in-law would appreciate using his phrase as the sentiment and three different vendor dies using the plaid from "Celebrating You" CTMH paperpack for the birth date.  The birth date die cuts were adhered to the background on a coordinating paper from same packet, bordered with Lemon cardstock and adhered with 3D thin foam tape for dimension.  The sentiment was typed on Word, printed, edged with Lagoon, bordered with Lemon cardstock and adhered to card with 3D thin foam tape.

The sentiment that was my inspiration was used for the inside of the card... The "But & Another Number" sentiment was also typed on Word, printed, cut and adhered direct inside card base.  The "happy  55" was die cut using same background paper with a second set in Lemon cardstock as a shadow and finished off with the plaid border.  Yes... this satisfied the mother and father in-law's instinct to still celebrate birthdays.

Boo - Double Trouble Challenge #123 "Let's Get Around To It" with AHSC #496

This is a Halloween card for our Double Trouble Challenge #123 "Lets Get Around To It"... simply need at least one circle on your project to meet the DTC requirements.  To earn extra chances for for our random draw prize use our partner's sketch Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #496.

This was quite a sketch to work with and took some thought on what I was going to use to create a spooky cute Halloween card... I think I managed it with changing the sketch to a landscape and using miscellaneous pieces from my stash. The background paper is very old not really a Halloween patterned paper; but the purple and pattern just made it a Holiday night time sky for the cute ghost and bat sticker images that come out at night and swirl around the sky. The circle gave it movement and the panels in the center brought in some color. Spiders were used in the corners for my embellishment, and a Boo sticker added for my sentiment. Happy Halloween.

Happy Easter - Double Trouble Challenge #107 "Build a Scene"

Here is my DT card for Double Trouble Challenge #107 "KISS - Create a Scene" using Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #467.  If you include Twisted Sister's optional twist you can also enter your card in Cupcake Inspirations #541 "Bunnies".  The bunny stamp already had a good portion of a scene and all it needed was to enhance the green grass and add a blue sky with whisp of clouds.  The scene panel was cut partially so that the bunny was over the edge instead of adding flowers as in the sketch.

The background is one of my favorite plaids and I always like the combination of polka-dots.  Sentiment was added at the same angle as the scene.

Happy Birthday - Color Dare 488 - Fancy 5

Here is what I thought was my DT card for ColorMyHeart Color Dare #488 "Fancy 5" color palette. But until it was posted this morning I didn't realize that I used the wrong color palette which did not include the colors chosen for the corrected palette.

My choices from the wrong palette, as you can see, were Sangria, Mulberry and Shortbread which none were close to the correct color palette.  I wondered why my card did not look as bright as the other projects from our Design Team; but didn't question at the time.  Anyway, here is my own color selection for this card.

I was catching up on some of my inventory of dies and I came across some half card panels which could be used very easily for a gatefold card. My decision was to use all cardstock instead of patterned papers. Cut two sets of the floral using mulberry and the frame using sangria and adhered them to each side of my gatefold card base cut from shortbread.

Keeping with using cardstock and dies decided to use a couple Sizzix fancy frames in sangria and shortbread and adhered with 3D thin foam tape to the left-hand side panel with the overlap to the right side of the gatefold. Cut three dragonfly's, two in sangria and one in mulberry, layered and adhered to the fancy frame.

Didn't have enough room for a sentiment so I cut a smaller fancy frame in shortbread and then fussy-cut a layer in sangria, stamped on a sentiment and adhered to the dragonfly focal point.

Double Trouble #93 - Autumn Blessings

This is my Design Team card for Double Trouble Challenge No. 93 Something, Anything, Everything (aka Anything Goes) with and Twisted Sister's optional twist to include "Fall Harvest Item".

At our Little Group Crop today we were working with Gel Press backgrounds and I chose to do woodgrain and plaid for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #439 and also meet the requirement of Heart2Hearts "Be Creative with Cardstock" using the colors in ColorMyHeart Color Dare "TicTacToe".  Since I used copic oil base pens and acrylic paints my colors are closest to the TicTacToe palette.

Thing 3:  Twisted Sister says, "It's the season of Harvest and I know Trouble Maker is eager to bite into a crispy apple. As for me, I'd rather bite into a warm apple pie. Let's make a fall project and include your favorite Fall Harvest item(s), e.g. pies, apples, pears, pumpkins, gourds, pomegranates, Indian corn, grains, scarecrows, etc.

The Gel Press backgrounds you really don't know what you're going to get with the different layers and materials you work with. My daughter's eyes were rolling a bit and I required a little more time then she probably wanted to give me; but she held her patience with my frustrations.  But at the end I came up with the two designs I needed and were happy with them.

I tackled the woodgrain first... acrylic paint colors used were close to Mink, Tangerine, Toffee, Shortbread, Black & White acrylic paint using a woodgrain stencil until I got the texture and color I wanted.  Next the plaid... colors used were close to Harbour, Mink, Toffee, Shortbread, Black and White acrylic paint and using a plaid stamp until I got the texture and color I wanted.  The plaid had some smudging due to layers of colors so I wasn't sure I was happy with the plaid but it looked rustic. My daughter encouraged me and said they were perfect.  So, I had the pieces I needed for the AHSC but would have to wait until I got home to bring my card all together.

The circle for the sentiment was cut in two different sizes, using Toffee with a frame of Harbour.  Had already cut out some pussy willows from a die in an assortment of colors, but just layered them for dimension with the the Shortbread color on top.  and a peek-a-boo of Paprika.  Stamped pumpkin row and colored with Copic Sketch Pens (alcohol-base) using colors as close to Paprika, Payaya and Harbour and adhered at the bottom of the pussy willows.  Stamped sentiment in Sapphire (closest color to Harbour) and added the gold sequins.

Together We Make a Family - Color Dare Challenge #462

This is my DT card using the CTMH Pumpkin Spice Paperpack for ColorMyHeart Color Dare #462 using all the colors in our TicTacToe palette and combining it with Try Stampin' on Tuesday Sketch #524.  There were no stamps used for this card... only design papers, zip strips and stickers.  This was an easy and fun card to pull together using this sketch.  And the sentiment sticker was perfect for my pumpkin and pie family.

Challenge #74 "Kazoo-a-long" partnering with TSOT Sketch Challenge

Here is my Design Team Card for Double Trouble Challenge #74 "Kazoo-a-long" using a music theme and Try Stampin' on Tuesday's Sketch Challenge #490. Also chose to use Twisted Sister's optional twist to "include a zoo animal"... just had to decide which zoo animal... going back and forth from a kangaroo or a giraffe. This is an all-occasion card, inside sentiment can be added.

Found the giraffe I wanted to use in Cricut Design Space and then looked through Pinterest sentiments for a giraffe.  I had to be reminded by Our Little Crop Group to make sure to follow the sketch and wasn't sure my giraffe was small enough to use in the center panel.  While prusing through Pinterest there was a tri-fold card with a giraffe on the face of the card and when it was opened the rest of the body appeared.  I liked that idea; however, instead of doing a tri-fold card I accordian folded my giraffe in three sections and was able to include it in the sketch challenge.  I did find a sentiment, from another card, and it was perfect.

The background design paper was the right color and loved all the spots.  My focal point was first cut with a white cardstock and printed the sentiment on; but it just didn't seem right for the background of my giraffe.  I cut another piece of the design paper and placed under the giraffe... this happy paper made me happier.

Now, to place the musical notes.  Used a Cricut cut and used only the speech bubble for my upper right-hand corner embellishment.  Since the sentiment was on the focal point section, selected to put the music notes at the bottom. One of the other giraffes not used, instead of throwing it in my stash to get lost, it was added to the inside border.

Our Things 1, 2 and 3 at Double Trouble sure bring on some wierd combinations but I like to challenge them all; however, you have the flexibility of doing just Thing 1 "a music theme" and be eligible for our random draw.

For those that really like more of a challenge may want to include Twisted Sister's optional twist and/or enter at our partner's post if you have met their requirement... and you will be rewarded additional chances  for the random draw.  Please join us at Double Trouble Challenges.
