Wanted to try some low key work. Shoot through umbrella strobe to the right 1/16th, snooted strobe 1/4 power to the left to light the smoke. Originally planned for the soft light to be the main, but the snooted strobe has also made some specular highlights of the candle and the holder. More by luck than judgement, this has given the whole thing some good depth and contrast. Recently, I used a powerful cinematic technique: one camera angle, one focal length, and almost the same composition, with only the lighting changing, to convey two different states of the character. This is a flashback (swipe through the carousel). In the evening scene, the lighting temperature was set to 2700K, while for the daytime scene, the background lighting was set to 5600K.
