i like to think that i have a green thumb. however keeping plants alive indoors is a different thing. i suck at it. i forget to water them. mother nature helps me out with that when plants are outdoors. regardless of the numerous plant murders i have committed over the years i still buy obsessive amounts of topiaries each spring. and they usually live for like a month before i either forget about them or leave for an extended period of time. not this year! my two small topiaries are going…

A topiary is a plant that has been pruned and shaped as it grows to create a globe shape. You can create topiaries with a wide variety of plants. Using Rosemary adds a fragrant, as well as eye-pleasing, addition to any patio or backyard.

Growing your own Rosemary Topiary is a rewarding experience, watching it grow into the desired shape and then clipping and trimming to keep it as such. Rosemary branches can be shaped into wreaths by tying them onto a wire circle. Hang the wreath in a kitchen and pinch off bits as needed for cooking. The added bonus is the wonderful scent. Training and trimming a Rosemary plant into a topiary takes time but is rewarding to do.
