Although, IF attracts more attention and being used more frequently than other measures, it has been subjected to criticisms, which overcome the advantages of IF. Critically, extensive use of IF may result in destroying editorial and researchers' behaviour, which could compromise the quality of scientific articles. Therefore, it is the time of the timeliness and importance of a new invention of journal ranking techniques beyond the journal impact factor.

Moreover, this study applies ICT development sub-indices including ICT Use, ICT Access and ICT skill to find the distinct effect of these sub-indices on country's H-index. To this purpose, required data for the panel of 14 Middle East countries over the period 1995 to 2009 is collected. Findings of the current study show that ICT development increases the H-index of the sample countries. The results also indicate that ICT Use and ICT Skill subindices positively contribute to higher H-index but the effect of ICT access on country's H-index is not clear.

Signaling derives from the theory of information asymmetry, which implies a conflict of interest between managers and investors, which reduces the moderating role of dividends; because managers have asymmetric information compared to the investors on the earnings and future dividend policies. This study investigates the relationship between dividends paid and future earnings by considering the free cash flow. For this purpose, 82 companies listed on the stock exchange from 2002 to 2014 were examined. Using the simultaneous equation method, this study finds that increasing the rate of change in future earnings will reduce the annual rate of change in dividends paid. It is also found that the effect of changes in future earnings on changes in dividends is not a reason for the effect of changes in the dividend paid on future earnings.

It also is easily available and may be used for performance measures of scientists, and for recruitment decisions. The aim of this study is to investigate the difference between the outputs and results from these three citation databases namely Scopus, Google Scholar, and Web of Science based upon the h-index of a group of highly cited researchers (Nobel Prize winner scientist). The purposive sampling method was adopted to collect the required data. The results showed that there is a significant difference in the h-index between three citation indexes of Scopus, Google scholar, and Web of Science; the Google scholar h-index was more than the h-index in two other databases. It was also concluded that there is a significant positive relationship betwee...

In such environment, it is essential to know which databases are equally efficient and objective for literature searches. It seems that two most extensive databases are Web of Science and Scopus. Besides searching the literature, these two databases used to rank journals in terms of their productivity and the total citations received to indicate the journals impact, prestige or influence. This article attempts to provide a comprehensive comparison of these databases to answer frequent questions which researchers ask, such as: How Web of Science and Scopus are different? In which aspects these two databases are similar? Or, if the researchers are forced to choose one of them, which one should they prefer? For answering these questions, these two databases will be compared based on their qualitative and quantitative characteristics.

Moreover, ICT plays a significant role in development of each economic sector, especially during liberalization processes. Growth economists predict that economic growth is driven by investments in ICT. However, empirical studies on this issue have produced mixed results, regarding to different research methodology and geographical configuration of the study. In this paper, we estimate the endogenous production growth model, using panel data of the Newly Industrialized Countries (NICs) in Asia, namely Singapore, South Korea, Hong Kong and Malaysia over the period of 1990-2007. We find a strong significant positive impact of ICT investment on economic growth for these countries. This implies that if these countries seek to enhance their e...

Therefore, the favorable and effective activity of banks can have important effects on the growth of various economic sectors and increase the quantity and quality of production. Today, Islamic banking requires new methods, effective customer orientation, presentation of new technologies, servicing and services expected by the customer, and any bank that is more successful in those matters, succeeds in attracting resources in a competitive market. As a result, more durability and survival will increase with productivity. E-banking is one of the most important options for banks to achieve these goals. The present study examines the effect of E-banking on bank fees and return on assets as indices of Islamic banking performance. In order to test the research hypotheses, multiple regression method ...

Cross-sectional data from a set of 20 OECD and 24 non-OECD countries in 2007 are analysed employing data envelopment analysis (DEA) and classification and regression tree (CART) techniques. The paper illustrates that the level and quality of access to ICT infrastructures plays an important role in determining a country's level of technical efficiency. The paper also indicates the presence of a catch-up process, led by technological innovation, on the part of emerging countries.

The results indicate that there is a positive relationship between growth rate of real GDP per capita and ICT use index (as measured by the number of internet users, fixed broadband internet subscribers and the number of mobile subscription per 100 inhabitants) for 159 countries over the world. This study also finds that ICT use in the high income group has a higher effect on economic growth than other groups. This implies that if these countries seek to enhance their economic growth, they need to implement specific policies that facilitate ICT use.

For this purpose, a dynamic panel estimation applying the Arellano-Bond's Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) was conducted using the average of five-year observations from 1980-2009. The findings suggest that while trade and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) are not expected to affect environmental quality, increasing role of the state has a negative and significant impact only in developed countries. Further, the results suggest that energy consumption has a significant impact on all countries regardless of their stage of development, while urbanization affects environmental quality only in the least developed countries.
