The book analyzes authentic rescued manuscripts written in the ghettos of Warsaw, Vilna and Lodz. Originally this research was a dissertation submitted to the Hebrew University.

The book was published by Ghetto Fighter's House and Hakibbutz Hameuchad Publishing House in 1984, 770 pages.
In preparing this bibliography we relied on six major biblographical sources, among them four printed ones. The other two are the catalogues of the National and University Library in Jerusalem and the library of the YIVO Institute in New York. An index of 90 publishing towns and townlets is added.
