Jamie Young - Natural Dye Educator on Instagram: "Some of my personal favorite natural dye plants for creating eco prints. 🌿🌼 Flowers: hibiscus, cosmos, coreopsis, black knight scabiosa Leaves: cosmos, tree of heaven, geranium, hemp, sumac, Chinese pistache, & redud The truth is, with a good, adjustable mordanting recipe, almost any plant will make a clear beautiful print. The key is being able to match the dye constituents within the plant to the proper mordants. Many plants contain multiple phytochemicals and can create a variety of prints depending on the pretreatment that is used. For instance, a tannin rich leaf such as Chinese pistache, is capable of creating yellow, green, lavender and dark purple prints when slight adjustments are made to the mordant recipe. 🌈 I make this easy Tree Of Heaven, Eco Printing Textiles, Purple Prints, Leaf Dyeing, Flowers Hibiscus, Green Lavender, Jamie Young, Black Knight, Colorful Background
