Proposal sketch in Markdown for discussion #103
Conversation
(Nitpick: you can make this a draft PR so it's clear it's not to be merged, the merge affordances don't show, etc.) |
Added section labels, as per #102 (comment).
To build a better future, the W3C must rise even further to the challenge of improving the Web's fundamental integrity,
while continuing to expand the Web’s scope and reach.
We must embody in our work the core values of the Web itself,
by supporting the Ethical Web Principles with Operational Principles of the W3C. |

by being inclusive, principled, and continually striving to make the Web better through these principles and the Ethical Web Principles.

I think I'm liking this direction quite a bit; while I'm still digesting it (and #104), some concrete feedback on the text.
Note that this is superceded by #111 . |
should I bring my comments that still apply to #111? |
@dontcallmedom I am SO so sorry. I forgot to incorporate your comments here (and this is exactly how I wanted commentary). I've done so now - read through your comments above, and you can see the disposition. |
thanks a lot! I've marked as resolved the comments that have been integrated, and will try to do another pass with comments/issues for the remaining ones |
* Rewrite proposal. * add line introing op principles inspired by #104. * Tweaked per Dom's comments in #103. * One more tweak per Dom's guidance in #103 * Remove "The" in front of W3C. Man, I hate the way this sounds, but it is correct. Co-authored-by: Chris Needham <[email protected]> * separate SDOs and government relationships Co-authored-by: Dominique Hazael-Massieux <[email protected]> * "Growing impact" As per comment in #104 * "respectful" As per comment in #104 (comment) * Oxford comma * Re-added "We put the needs of users first" * Remove "must" in one instance * Re-add consensus-building point. * "We are" for consistency * Remove "ethical" from mission statement * Go back to "respectful" * Remove duplicate text, move "stakeholders" to separate bullet * final tweak to intro/purpose as per thread with @fantasai --------- Co-authored-by: Chris Needham <[email protected]> Co-authored-by: Dominique Hazael-Massieux <[email protected]>
