I merged the two existing PR in my repo. I was looking for a solution to getting the Light as Light instead of a Switch. After struggling with external component to get it working I found a quite straight forward solution using the template. I'm quite new in the Esphome framework. What are the best practice using templates or implementing external components. I would enjoy to get your feedback.
I removed the home assistant (API) dependency in the cover entity. This allow a standalone or mqtt only use.
