Woodstock Farmer's Market, and more wonderful summer weather.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
Into the mid 50's overnight perfect for sleeping. I got a very nice quiet walkabout town so peaceful just hearing the birds, no traffic and no people, first 2 miles to get me started for the day.
Back home to putter around bit more another coffee consumed then Suzie and I headed into Woodstock (the Dairy Capital of Canada) a nice scenic country drive about 25 minutes not much traffic at all . To the Woodstock Famers market.
Woodstock claims to be the Dairy Capital of Canada
We arrived at the Farmer's market in Woodstock and is quite nice, not large but local vendors selling their produce in season, fresh egs, meat counters, cheese, seafood, baked goods lots of variety and good food. We do enjoy these smaller market is the areas
fresh local berries we love
not too busy as usual the way we like it
got some excellent strawberries here
this is a quiet area to relax with tables and chairs
A few meat vendors here that are very busy. Excellent looking fresh meats.
love these smoked pork chops, huge,
good prices but just bought one to share
seafood
excellent cheese too
Even a couple of buskers playing some good tunes
We checked to see if our good friends Mike and Trish were home for a visit . But they were out and about maybe another time. So we were back home by 11 am for a light lunch.
nothing quite like fresh local Ontario Strawberries,
so very sweet and juicy
a huge smoked pork chop and
some Turkey Garlic sausage to try
Lunch all done so I hopped on the mower to finish mowing the last few acres here I do enjoy this time to ride around enjoying the fresh air and country setting. only  1 hour 45 minutes this time I put it on full throtttle and got it done. Always looks and smells so nice when it is freshly mowed.
I was done mowing the lawn by 1:15 and was really ready for a nice refreshing dip in the pool, grabbed Suzie and away we went. Oh my, that feels so much better now. Temps with humidity feels like 97 F.
yup this was perfect
Now we can enjoy our e-readers in the shade. Then as predicted we had rain at 2 :15 and it came down real heavy for about 15 minutes, then stopped and the sun came back out. Still very warm but nice to sit under our awning listening to and watching the warm summer rain.
love the views here of the fresh mowed lawn
the  rain began
and more it rained
not long our pails are full of rain water
While I  was mowing the back few acres here  on the  edge a bush attached me did some  damage to my thin skin that I have, I have had worse and will survive, but this is just another thing  about getting older.
oppssy
After a cooling swim in the pool was soon time for Happy Hour. A nice snack today celery with peanut butter on one and cheese whiz on another.
a nice light snack
Soon was time to whip us supper, Tonight we going to grill a couple of the Turkey Garlic Sausage we bought today to go with our usual  tasty salads.
very tasty Turkey Garlic sausage

Car serviced, meds topped up, wine bottled and meet up with old friends on a hot sunny day.

Where are we today ?

Now this is more like the weather we love, think it went from winter to summer just like that! 5 am 50F (10C) outside. A bit of ground fog early then quickly burned off with the morning sun. At 8 am took the car to Pettigrew's Garage to get an Oil change and have Dale check out the code on his device for the engine light. Did not take him long to find a broken vacuum line. Easy quick fix. That should take care of the problem and  so far it has.
Early morning mist looks almost spooky
then in a bit the sun roses and burned it off
Then a quick trip to the pharmacy in New Hamburg for a prescription renewal, Back home for a tasty lunch, left over pizza heated in the frying pan, tastes like fresh made reheating it that way.
Nice drive to New Hamburg
Now at 11:15 we headed into Woodstock to bottle a batch of wine, Suzie's favourite Green Apple Resiling from Vintner wine works owned by a good friend Dave Mercer we have known for many years. Our daughter's used to figure skate together back in the 90's and we also had a lot fun camping excursions with Dave and Liana well over 20 years ago.We  know it is hot out when we need to run the air-conditioning in the car!
This be a busy place and he serves his customers well
makes excellent wine too
a  nice light tasty wine Suzie enjoys
While we there Dave had texted Liana and she came over to visit, we have not seen her for 13 years! Wow Such a nice surprise and glad that Suzie came with me. She went down the road to get her hair trimmed while we bottled the wine, does not take long. What a fun visit and short catch up with these guys reliving some of the fun times we had years ago. And wish Liana a Happy birthday seeing as tomorrow is the day!
Liana and Suzie

Soon time for us to head back home, stopped at her brothers to store 15 bottles of wine (we only have so much storage a batch is 30 bottles) then home to Camp Awesome and enjoy the rest of this amazing hot sunny day in the shade 85F (29C) the weather we really do love. Enjoying our page turners, happy hour and put some pork back ribs in sauerkraut, on our Weber Q to get tender and tasty for a couple of hours. For that recipe you can click HERE or my recipe blog top right sidebar.
back roads coming back from Suzie brothers
now  a peaceful afternoon enjoying this weather in the shade
smelling the ribs cooking in kraut
While enjoying the weather the huge tree across from us shedding Keys! So wonderful to see, they look like butterflies twirling around in the light breeze heading to the ground. Hoping to make more trees in the process.
this tree is shedding the keys,
'but could not get a picture of them twirling to the ground
hundreds of these everywhere
Then time to whip up a salad to go with supper, grill some fresh asparagus as well
ribs in the kraut
love this BBQ sauce thanks Deb for the tip
glazing the ribs and cook the asparagus just right
yup this was wonderful 3 ribs each and the rest sure hit the spot
That is about the end of this posting for a wonderful hot sunny day we both enjoyed. Dishes done. still 74F(23C) and at 7:30 pm and can now enjoy  a beautiful evening outside with our page turners listening to the mourning doves, birds chirping and occasionally see a squirrel or rabbit  run on by. This is the life we love. Maybe a sunset later on if I get a pic will post it tomorrow.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by and really hope y'all had a wonderful summer like day.

"Don't Laugh my other Car is a Rolls Royce", and that started our wonderful Sunday...amazing what we can do on the spur of the moment.

Where are we today ?
clic on a pic to enlarge it
A nice quiet summer Sunday morning, bright, sunny but not very hot yet. Got my walkabout started early around 7;45 am.. Gotta work off all that amazing food we pigged out on yesterday at Pa Fest. After about an hour in town I spotted this friends car with a bumper sticker on the back of his 2 seater Smart Car. "Don't laugh my other car is a "Rolls Royce". I chuckled and walked another hundred feet or so and here he is hand washing a beautiful 1990 Rolls Royce Silver Spur in his front yard, another of Russ' Toys. He also has across the road and older Prevost motorhome he is planning to spruce up a bit and do some travelling with. Oh he also has a Motorcycle, dumptruck, skidsteer and probably more that I have not seen.
read the bumper sticker
He was giving the Rolls a good hand wash and dry getting ready to take to the Car show in Woodstock today. Notice his license plate he may just rent it out as a Limo with him as the chauffeur for a date night or whatever. I am sure he will have a few takers.
The rear seat is spacious with drop down tables and foot rests. and real wood trim, sheep skin floor mats and real leather seats. This is the real thing! Now when he was all done cleaning he even took me for a cruise about town in this amazing automobile!
I finally finished my walkabout town (couple miles) and grabbed Suzie so we could head into Woodstock about  20 minutes away for Summer Streetfest on the Main Street that has been running since Thursday.
We snagged a free parking spot on the West end of Dundas and walked the length  4-5 blocks about 400 cars to check out and store front sales, food vendors, music form the 50-60's. What a great day, and not too hot. Lotsa people and really not too crowded this morning yet.
Bullit
1962? Lotus
1960 Cadillac Eldorado
Lots of hot roads, Muscle cars  and old restored cars, lotta money here today !
Town Hall
nice old church
Gull wing Pontiac
Museum Square fountain
Even had a few young guys here with their soap box racers as well.
Woodstock Courthouse
the back of a huge church the
 front is the next pic
That was a fun morning outing a few more miles walked, some nice old cars to check out for me, and Suzie  she just had a nice walkabout and fresh air.
Home in time for a bite to eat for lunch, putter around a bit and another walkabout between reading here in the shade. What a perfect relaxing Sunday.
Then time to whip up supper. Tonight some pan fried trout that was gifted to us from our friends Rob and Pat, This was caught by their DIL (Belle) and is so tasty. Thanks guys.
the cast iron pan works great on our WeberQ
just have to get it smoking hot
and keep the lid closed
Added to a tasty green loaded salad and the lemon heated on the grill for a couple minutes really allows the lemon juice to flow. After all the food we ate yesterday we really need to get back to healthy eating again
sure did the trick
Now that was a wonderful sunny summer day with temps in the low 70's f feels quite cool compared to what we have been having.  Right now at 7:30 pm only 60f, feels like fall is in the air need a sweater to keep the cool air away already.
Thanks for stopping in again and hope y'all had a great Sunday too.
