Just went crazy in Rachelle's TpT Store!

Hi everyone! How is your week going? The weather here is beautiful but is going to turn very cold in a few days! Brrrrrr. I am watching an old Jerry Lewis/Dean Martin movie on Netflix. So funny. :) I am also  shopping on Teachers Pay Teachers. I just went crazy in Rachelle's {What the Teacher Wants!} store and bought these . . .

In self defense, I think I should be able to blame part of it on her for having such cute and timely stuff!! Thanks Rachelle! Here is the link to her store if you want to peek for yourself.

I also have my eye on this from Lori Rosenberg's TpT Store . . .

Thanks ladies for all of your amazing work!
Hugs,

We have used Systematic Sight Word Instruction for Reading Success for the past 4 years and really like it. We use the worksheets as spelling homework and play fun sight word games for spelling practice in class.  One of the games I like is Roll and Read.  I have the students play it with a partner.  Each pair will need one dice.  After they roll, they read the sentence and tally the number.  I have them play until they get 20 tallies. Here are 35 weeks of Roll and Read to go with the sight word sentences used in this program.Click here for Roll and Read

Spelling City

My sister-in-law, who teaches first grade in Kane County, shared this site with me a few years ago.

Visit Spelling City
Spelling City is a free site where your students can practice their spelling words online. Teachers (or parents) can create an account and enter the spelling words they would like their students to practice. You can even save the lists and only allow the students to work on the list you would like. For example, one fall I sat down and entered our entire year's worth of spelling lists. Then, when it is a new week I simply log on to my account and "open" the list I would like the kids to work on.

There is a pay portion of the site, but because we don't have any student computers in our classrooms yet I haven't looked into it very much. From what I have noticed the kids can even take their tests on the computer and it is scored for you. Pretty cool.

Spelling Word Practice (Simply Monday)

Hello BlOggY FrIenDs!
Sorry I haven't posted since last week but I was sick for Spring BREAK! However, I know other teachers will understand when I say I am grateful it was break because I didn't have to prepare for a sub! Anyway, I hope you all had a great weekend. :)
Today I am going to start (and try to keep it up ;) a new feature called "Simply Monday" where I will share just a little something fun or new or interesting that I have tried.

Today I wanted to do something just a little fun and different to practice writing our spelling words. I grabbed a large piece of white bulletin board paper and put it on the floor.  The kids loved sitting around by friends and working. Here it is . . .

Have a great evening!
