Meiosis has 1 round of replication (S in interphase) and 2 rounds of division. Mitosis has 1 rnd. of rep. and 1 rnd. of div. Mechanism same for both, just extra div. in meiosis. If connected together, chromatids equal 1 chromosome. If chromatids are not connected, then each individual chromatid is a chromosome.
