Cláudio Tadeu Daniel-Ribeiro
Dr. Cláudio Tadeu Daniel-Ribeiro graduated in Medicine at the “Fundação Tecnico-Educacional Souza Marques” (1976), is Master (“Diplôme d'Études et de Recherches en Biologie Humaine”, 1981) and PhD (“Doctorate d 'État en Biologie Humaine”, 1983) by the “Université de Paris VI” (Pierre et Marie Curie, UPMC). He is researcher of the “Instituto Oswaldo Cruz” (IOC) - Fiocruz, where he headed the Department of Immunology (until the extinction of all the Departments of Research of the IOC in 2007) and the Department of Teaching (1997). He is also the Head of the Laboratory for Malaria Research - which houses the Research Center for Diagnosis and Training in Malaria (CPD-Mal), which he also coordinates at Fiocruz and is the Reference Laboratory for the Secretariat for Health Surveillance at the Ministry of Health, for malaria in the Extra-Amazon region.
CTDR is Full Member of the Brazilian National (ANM, 2010) and the “Fluminense” (for the State of Rio de Janeiro – AFM, 2002) Academies of Medicine, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Medicine of France (2009), Scientist of our State of Faperj, President (2012-2016) of the International Federation for Tropical Medicine, President Elect (2008) of the Brazilian Society of Malaria and has been the Chair of the Scientific Council of the XVIII International Congress on Tropical Medicine and Malaria, held in Rio de Janeiro in 2012. He was named Knight of Academic Palms by the Minister of National Education of France in 2012 and was the winner of the Health Sendas Award in 1997. He is ad-hoc advisor to the CNPq, Finep, Faperj and various government agencies for Research, Associate Editor of “Neurosciências” and member of the Scientific Editorial Board of several Journal (Acta Tropica, “Memórias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz”, Médecine Tropicale, Parasite, “Periodico Pan-Amazonico de Salud” & The Open Parasitogy and the Open Autoimmunity Journals). He has experience in the areas of Parasitology and Immunology, with emphasis on human Protozoology, acting on the following topics: human and experimental simian and murine malaria, Plasmodium falciparum and P. vivax, protective immunity, vaccine trials, immunopathology of malaria and Atlantic forest (bromeliad) malaria. He has also interest in the history of immunology and in cognitive aspects of the immune and neural responses. Dr Daniel-Ribeiro has a CNPq Productivity Scholarship since 1984.
He authors over 180 scientific publications, including 120 in peer reviewed and indexed Journals (ISI Web of Science, 954 citations; index h 17, and more than 1860 citations Scopus and SciELO), popular science journals, the secular press (9), chapters and prefaces of books (14) books, theses (two, both approved with "very honorable" mention) and monographs (three UPMC, ANM and AFM); and 345 papers presented at National and International Conferences. He has been Guest speaker / participant in round tables of 208 Scientific Meetings in 46 cities of 14 countries.
