When I first started doing freehand machine embroidery on water-soluble fabric I made a lot of mistakes. In this post I chat about one mistake in particular. The mistake relates to drawing on water soluble fabric, a troublesome issue for many. So if you are interested in learning what I used early on (with disastrous result) and what I use now (that I know better). check it out. www.meredithwoolnough.com.au/blog Free Motion Sewing Art, Free Motion Embroidery Ideas, Water Soluble Fabric Ideas, Solvy Fabric, Dissolvable Fabric Embroidery, Machine Thread Painting, Water Soluble Interfacing, Water Soluble Fabric Embroidery, Water Soluble Stabilizer Embroidery

Meredith Dale trading as Meredith Woolnough on Instagram: "This dissolvable material is water soluble fabric. It is a common machine embroidery stabiliser that is available from sewing stores or online. There are many companies that make it these days, and they may have their own ‘brand names’ (I’ll list a few of the most common ones below) but they are all selling essentially the same thing. I like the white ‘washable web’ variety of water soluble fabric myself. There is also a clear film variety that looks a bit like a sheet of plastic. Both work in similar ways, I just prefer the white variety. Some common brand names for the white variety I like: - vilene water soluble stabiliser/541/solufleece/soluvlies - New Brothread embroidery stabiliser washaway (available on Amazon) - Pell Dissolvable Fabric Embroidery, Meredith Woolnough, Soluble Fabric, Dior Wedding, Embroidery Stabilizer, Water Soluble Paper, Water Soluble Fabric, Encaustic Art, Cardboard Tubes

Meredith Dale trading as Meredith Woolnough on Instagram: "A fun little rainbow scribble sheet - just because 🌈

This embroidery is created using a freehand machine embroidery technique (which is basically a way of drawing with your sewing machine). I have stitched onto a water soluble fabric which I am washing away in this little video. Now I am just left with my rainbow scribble of stitches.

What will I do with this now? You will just have to wait and see 😉

Organza scrap flower vessels are great to make. They are based on an old idea brought up to present date. I get a lot of small scraps generated from what i do and i love that they can all be used and not chucked away. Once the vessel is dry and set hard i have decorated it with beading and bead dangles before machining flowers onto organza and cutting them out using a soldering iron to seal and neaten their edges. They are ideal for putting scented petals in and dried flower arrangements…
