My Sunday Stitchy Update 12/15/24

I can't believe it is only ten little days until Christmas and then 17 until the New Year arrives. I hope everyone is ready for the holidays. I am and was even finished early this year! I only have to make a cheeseball to serve with crackers for the Mall Stitchers holiday get together. We will be doing a White Elephant Gift Exchange also so we should have a good time.

I do miss not having a little one in the house because they would always be so excited; 19 year olds - not so much! I am proud of him though, when I asked him what he wanted for Christmas he said he would like some tuition money to take a couple of college classes. I will gladly provide that for him but boy oh boy have the rates gone up a LOT since my kids went. Due to the cost he will only be taking a couple of classes here and there so we will have to wait and see what his next decision will be. 💖

So I guess we should get on with some stitching. This week I stitched on three different projects and stitched on each for two days. It was one of those weeks unfortunately but I think I may be a on the mend (shhh, when  I say that I start feeling like I an going down again). No fever but my eyes feel like that are very hot, I have a headache that comes and goes and so many other things I'm sure you don't want to hear about.

So first I will show you the 2024 Peppermint Purple Blackwork SAL. "The prompt was Stitch on a project that takes courage, explain your reasoning." Since I had so many visits from Mr & Mrs Frog on this piece I wanted to see if I could actually manage to do it correctly. Trying it again was courage! I contemplated ripping everything out and starting it from the beginning again. I think that this time having the chart all on one page has really helped me. Maybe I can actually finish it soon.

Peppermint Purple

Added 123 stitches over the two day period!

Clare has released the 2025 SAL borders and I have been going back and forth over which one I would like to do and I think I have it narrowed down to two. I know I will be using black aida and now to pick a color, I am considering a green color. Hopefully you will see it soon!

Next I needed to "Stitch on a project with a star." There are plenty of "stars" in the upper left field of blue on this piece it more than qualifies for this prompt.

Lucy Beam
Love In Stitches

I did get in 129 stitches, all on the wording.

My final prompt for this week was "Stitch on a project you dreamed of before finally starting." My daughter, Tia asked me to stitch this for her and secretly I was happy to do so. I saw it and thought that I really wanted to stitch it but knew I already own to many charts and I really shouldn't buy another. But since it was for Tia... well who am I to deny her of something! LOL

The Witchy Stitcher

Only added 113 stitches so I hope she is not in a hurry for it!

Well that is all I have for today.

I wish you a wonderful week and I will see you on Sunday.

My Sunday Stitchy Update 12/08/24

Morning Everyone!

I hope that you had a great week and that you are catching up with your Christmas stitching. There is really nothing exciting happening here, just stitching and watching Christmas movies. I finished all my Christmas shopping a few weeks ago so I have been wrapping things when nobody else is home.

I think Christmas is my favorite holiday because I like gifting my family with things they "want or need" and seeing their reactions when they open their gifts even though they are grown up now. I feel the same with their birthdays.

This week I only worked on two pieces and only worked on one prompt so this should be a fast and short stitching post. Then I will get back to work on those prompts next week.

So the prompt I worked on was "Stitch on a WIP that has letters." So I pulled out the I Stitch Sampler and put in a few stitches.

I was trying to fill in the blue background on the letter I but there seems to be lot of stitches in that small square! I only put 130 stitches in it on 12/03/24 before it was time to go home.

Then I worked on the "Small Christmas Ornaments" piece. I really wanted to get it finished this week so I can decide how to finish them off and I managed to do it! YAY!

I put in 915 stitches during the week, mostly backstitch. I finally finished them just yesterday (Saturday, 12/07) and now I have a little time to decide on the finishing so a couple of them can be mailed out and arrive before Christmas.

And so believe it or not, that is it for the week!

Thanks so much for stopping by to see what I have been doing.

I hope to see you again next week so until then
take care and stay safe but make lots of Xs!

My Sunday Stitchy Update 12/01/24

WOW, December already! Eek, that means it is crunchtime for Christmas stitching! I still need to finish the stitching on one ornament plus the back stitch on a couple. Then get them ready for the tree. I ALWAYS plan to get them done earlier than December but you know how plans go! I will have to work on them soon!

This week I am just jumping right into the prompts because I have lots to do around the house.

This was the left over one that didn't get on last weeks post. The prompt was "Stitch on something that can fly." So I don't think I have ever seen a ghost but in any movie you watch the ghosts fly everywhere they go, even right through walls.

Added 204 stitches on 11/24

Now onto this week and my next stitch was "Home is Where the Dog Is." We can finally see the dog's outline against his house! Yay that means progress was made though there are still lots of stitches to stitch! Oh, the prompt was "Stitch a WIP with a frog, dog, bear or chicken" so this definitely qualifies.

216 stitches were stitched on 11/25

The next prompt to be stitched was "Stitch on a WIP which has a dangerous creature in it." I don't know about you but I think a dinosaur is is pretty dangerous. I know I wouldn't want to be around one and I will NEVER go to Jurassic Park!
Artist - Stephen Michael Gardner

I added 100 stitches to the dinosaurs on 11/26

I have never used one of these floss organizers before but since I seem to spend most of my time threading my needle when working on Dinosaurs I thought this might help speed things up.

Have you ever used one? If so, do you have any tips about using this feel free to let me know! Thanks

Next I needed to "Stitch on a WIP you would consider an experiment." Well with as many times as I had to frog this one I felt it was an experiment; after all aren't frogs used in experiments? Well I feel like I have had more than my fair share of them on the Blackwork SAL!

2024 Blackwork SAL
Peppermint Purple

147 stitches were added (successfully I hope) on 11/27

The next prompt was to "Stitch on a WIP that contains 2 of their powers (water, something fast, light, garden, animal or a tool)." Well all of these thing are featured in Nintendo games so it was a logical choice. The people are always fast and they need tools to do whatever they are attempting and the animals, I think they are in every game!

Contra

Contra received 123 stitched on 11/28

The next stitching prompt is very fitting for this next stitch. "Stitch on a WIP that you had forgotten about or wish you could forget about." I always forget to stitch it or I push the Christmas pieces to the bottom of my stitching pile because in my mind I have plenty of time to get to it later and then the next thing you know, it is December!

I managed to add 125 stitched on 11/29

The last one for this week is "Stitch on a WIP that needs a 1000 year hibernation (e.g. a  project that has been naughty and needs a time out or one you are bored of and needs to put away for a bit)." This piece is a VERY boring stitch. All you do is stitch the same color in a row all the way down to the end and then move on to the next color and do it again. I do love this piece but boring is the word of the day.

I stitched 111 coral stitches on 11/30.

Well that was the stitching for the week. I do hope that you guys are enjoying the pieces I stitched
and how I decided on those pieces. I hope that they will do this same event in 2025. I like trying to pick out a piece for each prompt. Some of them take all week to figure out a reason! LOL

If anyone feels like they might want to try this challenge come on over and join in on Facebook. The group is called Fandom Stitching Central. They do have other challenges to but this one is MY favorite. It is not required to stitch all the prompts because after all it is just for FUN!

If you are going Christmas shopping please be vigilant and safe. Everywhere is bound to be crowded which makes it easier for thieves.

I hope you have an excellent week and I will see you right here next Sunday!

My Sunday Stitchy Update 11/24/24

Hey everyone! Hope life is treating you well.

This week a bunch of friends and I went to see Wicked and in my opinion it was fantastic! If you have seen the other productions of this series then this one is a must. I hope you have a chance to enjoy it as well.

Believe it or not we have still been in the 80s this week! We did drop down to the 60s for a couple of days and then jumped right back to the 80s. I am not complaining though, I love the heat!

In the upcoming week here in the US we will be celebrating Thanksgiving on Thursday. Most people will watch football and cook a turkey with tons of sides. My family will be making homemade pizzas for dinner that day and I of course will be stitching and watching movies.

I think I have answered all the comments for last week and I am trying to remember to change the email address so they don't go to "No Reply". If I didn't answer your comment it is probably because I forgot to change the email address... sorry!

Now for the stitching I squeezed in this week!

First one stitched was perfect for the prompt "Stitch on something you’re reluctant to stitch on." After another frogging session with this piece (I think it is my third or maybe the fourth?) I was brave enough to stitch on it again. This time I worked on the upper right instead of the lower left amd so far, so good! The real test will be when I start adding the lines inside the border.

2024 Blackwork SAL
138 stitches added on 11/18

Next up I worked on the Quilt Block Sampler, since the prompt was made for this one; "Stitch with blue floss, or on something with a moon." As you know I have been working on this for years and years, four to be exact and I hope to have these last two blocks stitched up soon so I can mark this one finished!

Quilt Block Sampler
Artist - Loretta Oliver

Progress 11/19 when I added 164 stitches.

This time the prompt was to "Stitch on something that is small, or fairy sized." I figured the title says they are tiny boxes so this should be fine! I definitely don't have anything fairy sized because I think that would be extra small. It almost looks like someone dumped out a bunch of die and this is how they landed.

One Hundred Days of Tiny
I added 240 stitches which counts for 120 between the days of 11/20 and 11/22.

Now for one of my current favorites; Stephen King's House! I can't wait to get to the different books and movies that are featured here. This prompt said to "Stitch on something you would find at a tea party." Well what would a tea party be without the guests? After all someone has to drink all that tea and eat the cookies!! So all the people in this piece will be invited once they are visible.

Added 218 stitches to the house on 11/21

The last prompt is asking about the season of weather that I really don't like though I do like it a bit better now that I don't have to be bothered with it! They asked me to "Stitch on something that makes you think of winter." Well this one obviously has everything to do with winter even though I prefer summer!

On 11/23 I added 212 stitches

This week it seemed as though the prompts were made after someone looked in my WIP box. I often wonder who thinks of these prompts. I am sure it is a lot of work to think of six for each week.

Well it is time for me to go to bed and TRY to get some sleep. It is 2:45am right now, way past my bedtime but the insomnia says no, you should stay awake... all night!

Well thank you once again for stopping by to see what I am doing.
I appreciate all of you and your comments.

So until next week
stay safe and keep stitching!
