winter is coming

Dearest Minions,

This is my entry to Macabre Monday's challenge which is can I quote you on that. The quote is from Game of Thrones by George R R Martin and is the House of Stark's motto.

I bought the skull stamp yesterday from Blade rubber stamps, the eyes are coloured like that as a reference to "the others" who kill and then bring corpses back from the dead - their eyes tend to be bright blue and they are somewhat disinclined to conversation.

I wanted to something very simple and stark (snigger) which was also created a feeling of unease.

water colours- the revenge

Dearest Minions,

Just wanted to show how one of the other water colour bits was used. I am entering this in to the basic grey challenge this week which is mother's day or girlie, this is my Mother's day card and that craft place challenge blog - anything goes.

Yes, even if you are the wickedest witch in the west there is always someone ready to relate how you were chased by a mutant chicken when you were six (not made up, I really was and I am still not fond of the freakish feathered fiends.) Oh paper is basic grey boxer collection, stamp is indigo blu.

great pear of legs

Dearest Minions,

I am really proud to say that this week, Try it on Tuesday is spreading the word of world domination. Please do have a look at this excellent challenge site. I made the above card using masking, I have done a small how to on the site.

people people

Because, let's face it there are always days when we fancy scaring crap out of anyone who wants to "chat and ask a favour."

This is my entry into this week's less is more challenge; masking, which is one of my favourite techniques.

Water Colours

Dearest Minions,

Good day, this is my water colour entry for Try it on Tuesday. I have several attempts at this using different styles.

The top one is made using staz on for the image then slapping water on the paper and highlighting with distress ink. Rachel Jackson produced an article on this in Craft Stamper ages ago. I really love this so have framed it, the MINEMINE MINE! took over.

I also tried embossing distress inks and then water colouring as above, unfortunately my clear embossing powder let me down and I ended up with what looks like spilled coffee over a church (centre). I fiddled with this and it now looks better than it did, more shaded than beverage. I then tried using water colour pencils on the last embossed image and I rather like it, the leaked ink gives it an old smugged look.

Design TEAM! -Favourites

Dearest Minions,

I am really honoured to be on the Design Team for Tuesday Taggers starting from NOW. This week they asked us to show our favourites-piece and techniques; this is my favourite card that I have made so far this year. Kind of Rock meets a treasure map, there could be a pop up Jack Sparrow inside drinking booze and wenching but this would make sending in the post difficult. The card is made using acetate coloured with alchie inks, an embossed stamp image, wonderful paper and a Tim Holtz cogs and spinner.

Here is a photo of some other bits and pieces that I am smug about this year. These all use my favourite thing - experimentation, I love just fiddling and faffing around with my inks and stamps and below are good examples of me having a play time.
The charms were made after reading this month Craft stamper with an excellent article by Carol Fox.

Best Wishes and sqeauks of excitement.

once upon a springtime

Good Day,

This card is for a lovely little girl's birthday. I am multi-tasking by also entering it into fashionable stamping challenges -for a child, all sorts - spread your wings and basic grey - springtime,
Deep Ocean challenges- Spring
(Is there anyone else out there who can not say multi-task without thinking of "multipass" from the 5th Element?) The card is made from basic grey sugar rush papers, the image and sentiment is from graphic 45 and the ribbon is from a clothing tag.

I would like to say that my thoughts and sympathies are with all those people around the world who had suffered in the recent terrible weather this year. Making a card celebrating the change of seasons brings home how lucky we are in my part of England. I have been amused by the wellies people have been wearing while walking their dogs today in the grey miserable rain (the evil Dr Nebular sleeps beside me on the sofa.)

inflatable fish

Dearest Minions,

Here is an altered match box done in a Mosaic style for this Tuesday taggers challenge. However I am really not good at cutting straight, couple this with drinking a miniature cream liqueur and the result is more squiffy than I was and the fish looks a bit blow up dollish.
