V. PRA-READING QUESTIONS:
• To go to England, What do you have to do? What do you need to do before you go to these
countries?
VI. READING:
Many foreigners visit Great Britain every year. To enter this country, a passport and visa
are required. However, there are many exceptions; therefore it’s a good idea to consult
the British embassy in your country before you leave. All travelers are required to have
onward or return tickets, valid travel documents, and sufficient funds. International
certificates of vaccination are required only of travelers who arrive from infected areas.
To enter Australia, a visa and passport are required with few exceptions. Visa
information is available from the Australian consulate or Embassy in your country.
Travelers need to fill out a passenger card in English when arriving. They also need a
return ticket. It is advisable to have a typhoid fever vaccination. An international
certificate of vaccination for cholera or yellow fever is necessary if you arrive from an
infected area. Entry is prohibited to those with passports from Taiwan.

ELEMENTARY BOOK LESSON 20
V. READING.
Belize borders on Mexico and Guatemala. It has a land area of about 23,050 square
kilometers, including several small islands. Today called Belize, it was formerly known as
British Honduras. It is 280 kilometers long and 110 kilometers wide, and forests occupy
approximately 65% of the area. Much of the land is flat, but there are some mountains. The
highest point is Victoria peak, at 1,123 meters. The population of Belize is about 180,000,
with 90% of adults being literate. English is the official language.
Honduras is bordered by Nicaragua, Guatemala and El Salvador, and has an area of 112,088
square kilometers (a little less than England). The Pacific coastal strip is only 124 kilometers
long, while on the Caribbean, the northern coast is 640 kilometers long, much of the country
is mountainous, rising to peaks like “Cerro de las Minas” at 2,849 meters. Roughly 46% of
the land is agricultural; about 33% is forested.
Spanish, which most of the people speak, is the official language in Honduras. The population
is about five million, of which about 90% is “mestizo”. About 40% of the population is
illiterate, even though education is compulsory in this central American country.
