Iseo
[edit]Hi there. Interesting, I didn`t know about the one in Switzerland. If that is the case, there are two options:
- If one destination is far more well known than the other, we should have:
- Iseo - the more well-known destination gets the unqualified title
- Iseo (countryname) - the other destination is qualified by the country name
- Iseo (disambiguation) - the disambig page is qualified by (disambiguation).
- If they are known more or less equally, each article is qualified by the country name, and the disambig page is left unqualified:
- Iseo (Italy)
- Iseo (Switzerland)
- Iseo - the diambig page here
For more info see Wikivoyage:Naming conventions. If you have any questions, feel free to hit me up on my talk page! Texugo (talk) 20:10, 27 October 2013 (UTC)
- I think Italian Iseo is more well known than the Swiss one so, Italian Iseo should get the unqualified title. --Saqib (talk) 20:18, 27 October 2013 (UTC)
Hi again. I deleted the Lake Iseo link because we generally avoid articles about bodies of water (see WV:Bodies of water). The links to the neighboring communes I delinked because we don't necessarily create articles for every little dot on the map. The communes are very small - they may or may not merit their own articles, or we might decide they should be covered together with Iseo or in another conglomeration. If any of them can support its own article, feel free to re-link when that article is created. Texugo (talk) 13:36, 28 October 2013 (UTC)
Congratulations and thanks. That's a beautiful banner! Ikan Kekek (talk) 21:54, 30 December 2013 (UTC)
uploads
[edit]Please note that all images must be uploaded to commons: unless there is a specific reason for uploading them here, in which case they must be tagged with Template:Non-free image per Wikivoyage:Non-free content#Exemption Doctrine Policy. If you have questions you can ask them on this talk page or in the Pub. Thanks! -- Ryan • (talk) • 19:43, 11 March 2015 (UTC)
- Ryan I thought that homebanner should be uploaded locally, I'll transfer them ASAP. thanks. --Lkcl it (Talk) 19:46, 11 March 2015 (UTC)
- Please move to Commons the three images of Iseo you uploaded in September. --Saqib (talk) 19:56, 11 March 2015 (UTC)
- Ok, I have just asked if i had to do it there ... you can read in my mind! I'll do! Thanks --Lkcl it (Talk) 19:58, 11 March 2015 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) Wikivoyage:Banner Expedition#Uploading to Commons has some details about uploading banners to commons, including categorization of those banners. If a banner pictures something that cannot be uploaded to commons then it may be possible to upload here, but otherwise all images go to commons so that they can be shared between projects. -- Ryan • (talk) • 20:00, 11 March 2015 (UTC)
- Andrew: Is there something we're missing here? I think we were uploading main page banners locally. --Saqib (talk) 20:04, 11 March 2015 (UTC)

- (edit conflicts) What? I always thought candidates for Main Page banners for featured articles should always be uploaded locally. Just like User:AndreCarrotflower just did and others have done as long as we have had DotM/OtBP/Ftt banners ϒpsilon (talk) 20:06, 11 March 2015 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) I have transferred all the images on commons, please delete them. Ryan I have uploaded homebanners (the one for the homepage) and not pagebanners (the one that every article should have), so the rules you linked IMHO are not valid . --Lkcl it (Talk) 20:09, 11 March 2015 (UTC)
- (edit conflicts) Right. Misunderstanding! Lkcl it, please ignore my message regarding moving Iseo banners to Commons until Andrew responds. --Saqib (talk) 20:10, 11 March 2015 (UTC)
- On at least one occasion in the past, we've discussed transferring Main Page banners to Commons, but nothing ever came of the proposal (I'm actually headed out the door at the moment, but when I get an opportunity I'll try to track down the conversation I'm referring to). Until that changes, policy remains as it has always been: that Main Page banners are hosted locally. -- AndreCarrotflower (talk) 20:32, 11 March 2015 (UTC)
- AndreCarrotflower should I ask the deletion of the files on commons? --Lkcl it (Talk) 21:19, 11 March 2015 (UTC)

- to keep images that are on our Main Page and other high-traffic pages under the control of local admins rather than Commons admins, so that if they are e.g. accidentally deleted or overwritten, the problem can be solved much more easily, and
- to avoid Commons being overwhelmed with redundant content, given that most Main Page banners are cropped versions of images already hosted on Commons.
- That being said: to answer your question, Lkcl, I don't think it's necessary to ask for the images to be deleted on Commons. If I'm not mistaken, you photographed the Iseo banners yourself and uploaded the images directly to Wikivoyage, so they were not already on Commons before you uploaded them there just now. So keeping the images on Commons will make it easier for other projects to reuse them - but nonetheless, it remains important for us to also retain a local copy of the images to use on our Main Page.

- AndreCarrotflower Thank for the reply. Could you check the licence of my first three banners: there is written that are No-Free content, but they are not! Can I change them into cc-by-sa-3.0? Thanks --Lkcl it (Talk) 16:29, 12 March 2015 (UTC)

- Sorry for the confusion - I saw a user I didn't recognize uploading images locally and didn't see any indication of why they weren't being uploaded to commons:, so I incorrectly assumed the uploads were in error, but as you've noted home page banner candidates do apparently get uploaded locally. I think we need to tweak our Special:Upload page to always tag local uploads with the reason that they were uploaded locally instead of to Commons, but that's a discussion for a different place. Sorry again for the confusion. -- Ryan • (talk) • 16:37, 12 March 2015 (UTC)
- Ryan: no problem, everything has been solved! --Lkcl it (Talk) 19:27, 12 March 2015 (UTC)
Docent activity check
[edit]Hello. I notice you've been inactive for more than a year. Are you still available to answer questions as docent for Clusane and Iseo? All the best, ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 11:43, 4 September 2022 (UTC)
- Hi. I've now removed your docent status, per Wikivoyage:Docents#Stopping being a docent. All the best, ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 16:33, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
