This spam link has been added to a range of SEO related articles (as well as other articles) by a number of different IPs. Because warnings are ignored and the spammer is IP hopping it would be good if the URL could be blacklisted.

Pay per download sites?

Am I right in assuming that pay-per-download sites like http://sharecash.org, http://uploading.com, and http://ziddu.com are unwanted both as references and in the weblinks sections? --Pjacobi (talk) 13:02, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

So far as I understand it, people just upload something found elsewhere to these sites to get the download money. The problems are in my opinion:
  • We should give the original document as reference, which may either be linkable from elsewhere or in case of scans, just the normal book information (author, title, ISBN). In the latter case the upload is a copyright infringement anyway.
  • At least some of these sites operate by requiring registration and selling the user information gathered this way. Well, many legitimate sites require registration, but at least one can expect to not give the registration data to spammers.
  • Once the userbase of these sites notices that putting such links into Wikipedia works, it will create a huge incentive to add them big style.

Spam is a subjective quality description of an article. As such, I don't think delsort would apply. For instance, we don't have delsort categories for nonnotable articles, listcruft, or articles just made up some day; although they are all listed at AfD. ThemFromSpace 20:01, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
