Priorities
Hey guys, the assessment drive is good and all, but I think we need to (metaphorically) sit down and strategize. Firstly, we need to talk about our scope, because if we decide that certain types of articles are not within what we want to cover, then we save time by not assessing them. Looking at our Featured Articles, all but the first four of 25 FAs are video games that just happen to run on the Macintosh, that we did nto contribute to nor ever will. This is ridiculous (and I might wind up fixing it myself). More to the point, I have worked very hard to make Macintosh a featured article. I defended it, single handedly, from being delisted about a year ago. Now it is up for a second FARC. If it is delisted, it will be even harder to re-list it. I went through a stage of wanting to tag everything with a template; everyone does. So please, lend the old timer your ears - don't fall into the trap of setting up red tape and gathering data you'll never use. Let's pull together on the time-sensitive issue, stop bickering over templates and color schemes on templates, and improve an article. Please. HereToHelp (talk to me) 04:00, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
- I agree completely that we've spent enough time on the layout of these pages! WP:DEW!!!!!!!! This is not a social session; let's actually work on some articles. Right now our collaboration is Macintosh, let's do some work. HTH, could you set up a list of things that need to be done for Macintosh to keep it a FA?--mono 04:32, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
- Basically, anything pointed out on the FARC page that hasn't been addressed. I think the biggest roadblock is referencing legacy model tech specs, which is why I made {{cite mac}} (see above). HereToHelp (talk to me) 04:37, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

- Yes. We can.--mono 00:11, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
- Or more importantly, we're going to, because there's no way to cite legacy specs in a way that is uniform, accessible, reliable, and neutral (non-commercial) better than this. HereToHelp (talk to me) 02:24, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
- Looking forward to it! This way, we can hopefully save Macintosh (I will get back to work once I know what to do with the refs!) and possibly push MacBook Pro to FA as well (concerns for a future FA were Apple refs). Airplaneman ✈ 03:08, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

Changes to assessment template
I'd like to propose adding the code at User:EdoDodo/TemplateSandbox to our assessment template. This addition will place Apple Inc. articles in categories based on their B checklist, by areas needing attention, as well as place articles with incomplete B checklists in a category for checking. If there are no objections and a few people agree then I'll add the code later today. - EdoDodo talk 15:16, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

- Careful Support: I looked through the ParserFunctions (anyone who doesn't know what that means, see here)and it should work. Make sure all the categories are created, then placed in a main category. If it breaks, we'll revert and discuss.--mono 17:15, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
- I have done intensive testing in my sandbox and the template always performed as expected. The categories have already been created and placed in a parent category in preparation for the code addition. - EdoDodo talk 17:31, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
Proceeding to add code, per discussion above, will revert and discuss if something breaks. - EdoDodo talk 17:39, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
- I have finished implementing this and adding the code. The addition went mostly smoothly, the categories should be populated soon. The only small thing that went wrong was that I hadn't considered that "no" could also be written as "No", "n" or "N", so the template didn't account for this. It does now, so should work in all cases. If any of you spot any other mistakes or can improve the code in anyway then feel free to make edits, or drop me a message on my talk page and I will sort out problems as soon as possible. - EdoDodo talk 17:54, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
- OK, sounds good! Airplaneman ✈ 19:51, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
Further improved the template for more cases I hadn't considered (eg. project and file pages don't need checklists), moved it to a separate template to keep the main project banner template clean, and created new categories to browse articles that only have ONE issue. - EdoDodo talk 15:41, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

I will take a look into it, but I am not experienced with template coding. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Airplaneman ✈ 20:18, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
- I suspect this may be because of my code addition, since the rest of the template is very standard and I doubt it would cause problems. I've asked for input at WP:Requested Templates. - EdoDodo talk 06:21, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Inherit B-Class Checklists
Hey everyone! There are still a fair bit of B and C class articles with incomplete B-Class Checklists, and it may be a good idea to do a backlog elimination drive (similar to the assessment one we did a few weeks back) for them. However, before doing that, I was wondering if it would be fine with everyone if I ran DodoBot through that category and inherited B-Class checklists from other WikiProjects (as in, if they've filled in the checklist and we havn't, copy it over). It's a feature I'm working on, but is fairly similar to what the bot has done in the past, so shouldn't take too long. Any thoughts on this? - EdoDodo talk 06:46, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
- Support – yes, anything to clear that backlog! :) Airplaneman ✈ 23:51, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
- Overly enthusiastic support: I felt obligated to say yes, so yes. Great. </sarcasm></cynicism> monopending changes begin june 15 01:47, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
Well, after 5+ hours of coding to get it to work flawlessly I run a check of the number of articles that will be affected and... 8 articles. Ah well, guess it could be useful for other projects in the future. I've asked for approval to run it, as it is a new task for this bot. Should be going through them some time soon. - EdoDodo talk 08:48, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
- Done Only eight articles was kind of disappointing, but I guess this will function as a test run to then do it for this for other WikiProjects, or at a later date when there's more checklists around. - EdoDodo talk 17:04, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
- Hey, 8 is better than 0! And yes, this will be useful for other projects. Airplaneman ✈ 17:52, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
- EdoDodo: I see a lot of non-{{WikiProject Apple Inc.}} templates. Could you run DodoBot to replace {{WikiProject Macintosh}} and {{macprojectarticle}} with {{WikiProject Apple Inc.}}? monosock 20:22, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry for the late reply, I missed your message. While I would be happy to do it alongside other tasks (as I did when inheriting checklists), I think that doing that alone would be seen as a waste of server resources (sure, it can cause a small bit of confusion but it doesn't really change much), so I won't do it unless there is very strong consensus that it would be useful. - EdoDodo talk 17:24, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

Myst (series) inclusion
Hey all, going back to that little chat we had about video games—want to tag the Myst games as scope or not? I only bring it up because the images (all taken on Macs) are being tagged by the bot. They all received a concurrent Mac release, although only the first game was released on Mac exclusively at launch. It's not like they particularly need shepherding (I got them all to GA/FA a long time ago), just wonderin'. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs(talk) 12:42, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- I'd be OK with tagging the main article and the first game for this project (and also for WP:MAC). Cross-platform games don't really need to be included in this project, but I've been tagging Mac-only games. I would suggest low importance for both this project and the Mac task force. Airplaneman ✈ 13:22, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- I would agree with Airplaneman on this one, however if there is consensus for tagging the other games as well (since they are part of a series that originated as Mac, and are still Mac games) then I would be fine with that as well (all at low-importance, of course). - EdoDodo talk 14:25, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- Ok. I went ahead and tagged Myst and Myst (series). Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs(talk) 20:38, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- I'm afraid of establishing a precedent - I don't think games should be a part of the project, but I know that Myst is special; the first game was even developed on Macs. That first game has also been released on
iPhoneiOS, so tag it accordingly. HereToHelp (talk to me) 21:26, 28 June 2010 (UTC)- Why don't you think they belong? It's hardly an exhaustive list, and we can be choosy. Games and game companies such as Bungie were hugely important—Halo: Combat Evolved was touted by Jobs as the resurrection of the Mac as a gaming platform (and perhaps it would have if Microsoft had not turned the game into an Xbox exclusive), for example. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs(talk) 00:01, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
- I think we agree; I just failed to communicate. Hand-picked games that are historic and who talk about the Macintosh or iPhone are fine. I oppose blanket listing of games that just happen to be available on the Mac, since that would give us way too many to be manageable, and they'd be totally tangential to our project. Is that what you mean by "be choosey"? HereToHelp (talk to me) 00:15, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

NA Class Assessment
I noticed that a lot of our articles are assessed as NA class, while we actually have more specific categories for most of them (Category:Image-Class Apple Inc. articles, Category:Category-Class Apple Inc. articles, etc.). Would you guys be fine with me running DodoBot through them to assess them correctly? - EdoDodo talk 14:48, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

- BTW, Category:Unknown-importance Apple Inc. articles looks a bit scary at the moment. Airplaneman ✈ 13:27, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- Indeed, there are a lot of unknown importance articles. Perhaps some of these could be automatically assessed by my bot (for example tagging all unknown-importance articles in Category:Mac OS games as low importance). If you guys would be fine with automatic importance assessment then I'll study the categories a bit more in-depth and propose some kind of plan. As well as this I suggest removing bottom and no importance, because these are highly non-standard (used by less than 10 WikiProjects), and are not recognized by the bot that creates the assessment table, so will not show up properly. In addition to this, there are no current uses of bottom-importance, and all uses of no-importance are incorrect (it should only be used for disambig and redirects, the articles currently in there should all be moved to low importance, which my bot could do if there is consensus for removing it). - EdoDodo talk 14:25, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

Result was: Merge Happy Mac, Sad Mac, Chimes of Death, Chime (Macintosh) and other Mac startup behavior to "Mac startup" for now, rename if necessary later. Merge utility stubs on {{Mac OS X}} to Mac OS X Utilities. —mono 04:18, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
- Tentative inks for proposed articles: OS X Utilities, Macintosh startup behaviors
I have two possible mergers in mind.
- merging Happy Mac, Sad Mac, Chimes of Death, Chime (Macintosh) and others into one page on Mac startup behaviors (including other info, like startup key combos)
- merging most of the utility stubs you can find on {{Mac OS X}} into one article called 'OS X utilities'

External links for Apple product articles
Transferred from User talk:Mono —mono 19:14, 31 July 2010 (UTC) Hi Mono,
Since you are the coordinator for the Apple Inc. Wiki Project Group, I figured I should just communicate with you directly instead of posting messages on 21 Apple related Talk pages.
I was curious if I could enlist the help of either yourself or other editors from the Apple Inc. Wiki Project team. I have a conflict of interest of posting about Apple products since I am employed by iFixit. I want to be able to provide quality content to multiple Apple product articles on Wikipedia, but I would be contributing from a biased point of view.
If you, or another editor from the wiki project team, could please check out my user page, all of the information and reasonings of mine are posted there.
Straife (talk) 00:11, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
- Just so you know, coordinator is not supreme content director (we use consensus, not dictatorship), but I'll still help. Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, iFixit doesn't appear to be reliable (no offense; reliable=peer reviewed and stuff), which leads me to believe that the addition of external links would not benefit the quality of the article (If the link is relevant, helpful and informative, it should be included). As I'm not familiar with the product/service, (maybe it is reliable) I can't exactly determine where these might be appropriate. I know you'll find a good deal of similar sites in external links sections, however, these sites really aren't helpful and shouldn't be there. You mentioned that the site was referenced in WP articles already, and this basically shows that the user who added it had to "crowdsource" from a "knowledge wiki". —mono 00:43, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you for the quick response. In terms of reliability (peer review etc*) iFixit is not always 100% accurate in its content, since it is both contributed by community members and employees with both parties providing varying levels of quality consistency. iFixit's content goes through a peer screening process before a guide can actually be viewed by all visitors to the website. However, I only provided a list of iFixit repair manuals that were of a high enough quality to be worth linking to from a Wikipedia article. Since you are not familiar with our content, would you be able to pose my request to the rest of the Apple Wiki Project team? I am sure that someone in the project team has heard of iFixit and would be able to determine if my suggestions are valid.
I am not attempting to promote any products that iFixit sells (replacement parts and tools). I am merely trying to share the content/knowlede that iFixit provides at no cost. If a Wikipedia editor finds a source that has easier to follow instructions, better quality images, and less paid ads on a website, I would have no qualms with them choosing to not link to iFixit repair manuals. I just feel that it is important for Wikipedia readers to have access to knowledge about how to repair the electronic device they are reading about. I would greatly appreciate your thoughts on this subject.

Weekly IRC discussion
Would anyone be interested in creating a weekly live discussion on IRC at a fixed time regarding the project? —mono 04:14, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
- Honestly, I don't know. It sounds like a good idea, but just how many people will be on? I for one cannot promise to be on at the same time every week. I'm on Wikipedia quite often as of the past year, but have used IRC a grand total of one time. I think it is also a bit misleading to add "To talk right now, join our chatroom" just because we don't have members on IRC 24/7. Questions will be found just as if not more quickly here via members' watchlists. But this reminds me - how about a newsletter? Airplaneman ✈ 04:25, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

New hardware template
Hi everyone! I’ve been working on a new Apple hardware navbox. My goal is to consolidate and simplify the current navboxes (Apple hardware; Apple hardware before 1998; Apple hardware since 1998) by listing all the product families, but not necessarily all the members of each family. Some current templates have done this and the result is a large navbox with links to many non-existant articles.
As a part of this project, I have created articles (from sections of the main article) and stubs gathering many similar models of Apple products (PowerBook 100 series; Power Macintosh (first generation); Power Macintosh (second generation); Power Macintosh 5000 series; Power Macintosh 6400 series). I also hope to consolidate articles about the various models (like the Macintosh II and Macintosh Quadra families).
I’ve kept the navbox ideas in one of my subpages, because it’s a work in progress. I welcome comments and suggestions. I’ve haven’t yet collaborated on Wikipedia, so please be gentle. Thanks! Jonathan Holbert (contributions; mail; talk) 20:23, 10 August 2010 (UTC)
- Hi there, nice work! I have changed the Mac section to use subgroups, since in my opinion that's a cleaner solution. I hope you don't mind, and if you disagree with me, by all means, feel free to revert me, it's in your userspace afterall :). - EdoDodo talk 01:06, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

- Thanks! This is still a work in progress. I still don’t know how I feel about the subgroups, but until I think of something different, it’s better than what I had. Being my first big collaborative effort on Wikipedia, I am curious how I would propose submitting a future version of this navbox to be used on all Apple hardware articles — Jonathan Holbert (talk) 17:28, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

Apple Inc. articles have been selected for the Wikipedia 0.8 release
Version 0.8 is a collection of Wikipedia articles selected by the Wikipedia 1.0 team for offline release on USB key, DVD and mobile phone. Articles were selected based on their assessed importance and quality, then article versions (revisionIDs) were chosen for trustworthiness (freedom from vandalism) using an adaptation of the WikiTrust algorithm.
We would like to ask you to review the Apple Inc. articles and revisionIDs we have chosen. Selected articles are marked with a rhombus symbol (♦) to the right of each article, and this symbol links to the selected version of each article. If you believe we have included or excluded articles inappropriately, please contact us at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8 with the details. You may wish to look at your WikiProject's articles with cleanup tags and try to improve any that need work; if you do, please give us the new revisionID at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8. We would like to complete this consultation period by midnight UTC on Monday, October 11th.
We have greatly streamlined the process since the Version 0.7 release, so we aim to have the collection ready for distribution by the end of October, 2010. As a result, we are planning to distribute the collection much more widely, while continuing to work with groups such as One Laptop per Child and Wikipedia for Schools to extend the reach of Wikipedia worldwide. Please help us, with your WikiProject's feedback!

iOS & Apple TV
Many articles, such as Apple TV, iOS (Apple), and iOS version history show the Apple TV running iOS. None of those statements are sourced, and it isn't mentioned anywhere on Apple's website. Should these statements be removed from the articles? ~NerdyScienceDude 21:01, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

RfC on the use of terminology like “GiB” (gibibyte) on Wikipedia
Notice: An RFC is being conducted here at Talk:Hard diskdrive#RFC on the use of the IEC prefixes. The debate under consideration is the use in this table of the “Hard disk drive” article of nomenclature such as “KiB”, “MiB”, and “GiB” to describe capacities. The governing guideline on MOSNUM is Quantities of bytes and bits. The quality of the discussion can be improved by broadening participation of the discussion. final cut express discontinued, update template
no longer available as final cut pro x is only $300.
this leaves logic studio (and express) and filemaker pro as the last for-pay software still available from apple exclusively outside their app store. logic studio express will probably be discontinued when logic studio is released for the app store so the prosumer category will disappear.
other problems with the template:
1. facetime missing under bundled software.
2. ios apps made by apple are nowhere to be found. apple develops 13 iphone apps of which 10 are universal (ipad as well) some are paid and some are free. these would make great additions to the template. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.196.130.131 (talk) 08:35, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

It discusses Jonathan Mak Long's fame regarding his Steve Jobs tribute logo, and how it was similar to another image by Chris Thornley. The article says "In the world of graphic design, similarities between images are quite common, said Juliette Cezzar, director of the communication design program at Parsons The New School for Design in New York City. Task force parameter in project banner

Importance?
This project does not seem to be using the importance parameter. Was this intentional? E.g. Steve Jobs should be an article of Top importance, many others low. It is a very helpful guide for people to know where to put their focus. --TimL (talk) 01:34, 31 October 2011 (UTC)

- I'm not defending this practice; I don't think it makes a lot of sense, either. But nor did I come up with it. --Florian Blaschke (talk) 20:16, 20 March 2012 (UTC)
- Details on the bot task are here; the category list used (which was curated by a project member) is here. FYI Xenobot is no longer operational. –xenotalk 23:05, 20 March 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you, Xeno. I have noticed that the bot is no longer active, but figured that you were the person to ask. I don't have strong feelings about this decision, either, I just agree with Peacock28 that it seems excessive – there's nothing specifically relevant to this WikiProject about Firefox and other software which happens to be available on Apple platforms. --Florian Blaschke (talk) 12:26, 22 March 2012 (UTC)

(hot potato?) iPhone 4 and other touchscreen phones are not "Slates". Discuss (nicely).
Hi, I am not here to start a war or anything, believe me! But I am an industry professional with 10 years of touchscreen phone ownership and use. I am very interested in all things mobile, so have read *a lot* of mobile phone and tablet computer reviews, articles and editorials.
Until reading Wikipedia I has not heard of the term "Slate" referring to any mobile device form factor. My first serious introduction to the term was a series of "rumour" articles for the iPad (some coining the names "iTablet", "iSlate"). Before that all touchscreen tablets were called just that; Touchscreen PC's or Tablet computers. Later, HP and Microsoft used the name "Slate" to refer to a class of Windows 7 tablet computers (e.g. the HP Slate).
I cannot find any articles that predate Wikipedia's entries that mention "Slate" as a form factor, or more specifically the "Slate Phone" form factor. I don't believe they exist.
Touchscreen phones were always referred to as "Touchscreen phones", "touchscreen smartphones" or just "smartphones". A great example is a review of one of my first smartphones from a respected review site, TrustedReviews: TrustedReviews Orange SPV M500 Review. Nowhere is the term "Slate" used and this phone could be argued to be physically very similar to an iPhone or Android phone (albeit with an antiquated OS). If it were a common industry term then it would have been mentioned in the detailed review at least once.
So I'm trying to build a consensus around the deletion of "Slate" as a mobile device form-factor (including in Apple iPhone articles) because I think it's a Wikipedia invention and not a term used widely in the industry. Anywhere it is used seem to come after the Wikipedia entries and I don't think it's Wikipedia's job to invent terms.
That's my case.X4n63r (talk) 21:41, 9 July 2012 (UTC)

Well, every major antivirus software makes one for Mac, not a single of them are within this project. Similarly, Avast makes one for Windows, why it isn't a part of WP Windows/ Microsoft. User:Mono and his inactivity rule
Since User:Mono stipulated in the first version of the "news" of the project that inactive members would get removed,[3] and he has not substantially contributed to WikiProject articles since March 2011,[4] is the rule now invalid, or does he get removed from the list? The reason I'm asking is because it's not the most welcoming thing for potential joiners to read, and it's not even specified after what period a user would get removed, so even if the rule were upheld by community consensus, it's not enforceable in the absence of this unspecified parameter. I obviously think that anyone inactive for ten minutes should get removed from the list, but that might just be me. :) Samsara (FA • FP) 16:56, 10 November 2012 (UTC)

SHSH questions
In connection with editing an article on SHSH blob I would like some input on what it exactly does. I commented here that I understand that it is just an authentication key iTunes need to see before the firmware is allowed onto the device and the key corresponds to the version of firmware on the device. I read on the Umbrella thingy and it looks like the key can be stored locally, then the software simply has to forward the iTunes call back home and present it back as its coming from home. It looks like that simplest explanation is that device needs to be presented with the key corresponding to whatever version firmware that will be loaded and presented by a means of "respoding back" to its "call for home" thus the use of very specific brand name software or single supplier server service such as Cydia is not a requirement for rollback. Do I have this right? Cantaloupe2 (talk) 03:45, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
- You are correct that Cydia and Cydia's servers are not required parts of the process of saving or using SHSH blobs; they are just commonly-used tools for doing those things. Dreamyshade (talk) 04:44, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
Invitation for additional opinions
If anyone is interested in iOS-related subjects, the articles iOS jailbreaking, Cydia, SHSH blob, and Greenpois0n have a lot of active talk page discussions that would benefit from additional perspectives and opinions. Most of the discussions involve just one other editor and me. Thanks! Dreamyshade (talk) 01:28, 10 January 2013 (UTC)
- I believe the said "one editor" is me. Saying "one other editor" is misleading when there has been RfCs with more than one editors beside you contributed in substantial amount. Cantaloupe2 (talk) 02:20, 10 January 2013 (UTC)
- By saying "most" I meant to convey that the bulk of the discussions have been between us, not all of it. I hope that wasn't misleading; sorry. Dreamyshade (talk) 02:30, 10 January 2013 (UTC)

B-class ratings? what?
Why is that when I added WikiProject Apple to Talk:NimbleBit, I got something about B-class assessment criteria apart from just the class and importance? Supercuty27 07:02, 25 February 2013 (UTC)
- Articles listed in Apple Wikiproject need to pass the standard B class assessment criteria to be listed as a B class article. You can simply assess it yourself by inserting the template listed on the Wikiproject banner into the Wikiproject banner template "code", however make sure assess the article correctly so important articles that do need be improved aren't classified incorrectly. Obviously as you may know, if you wish to promote an article to GA or FA status, it need to pass a formal standardised review. YuMaNuMa Contrib 04:47, 25 February 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks. If that's the case, I'll see what I can do about the B Class assessment. :) Supercuty27 07:01, 25 February 2013 (UTC)

A proposal for a WikiProject Apps has been made at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals/Apps. As WikiProject Apple Inc. is a related WikiProject, members of this WikiProject are invited to join the discussion. Thank you. XapApp (talk) 02:54, 8 April 2013 (UTC)
iOS 7
Hi! I'd appreciate a little extra input into what is now becoming an edit war on the iOS 7 article regarding the inclusion of a proportionally large criticism section. I have opened a talk discussion there, yet IP editors keep re-adding the section despite a lack of reliable sources, and the fact that it causes extreme bias. I don't know whether semi-protection is warranted, but it'd be good if some people could help back me up; I don't want to fall foul of 3RR, so I can't protect it myself any more. Thanks! drewmunn talk 10:23, 14 June 2013 (UTC)
Final Cut Pro
Hi again! Would you mind popping over to the Final Cut Pro talk page, where I've started an RfC on the differentiation between the eponymous software and Final Cut Pro X? Your views are very much welcome. Thanks in advance! drewmunn talk 12:04, 31 July 2013 (UTC)

Leaflet For Wikiproject Apple Inc. At Wikimania 2014
Hi all,
My name is Adi Khajuria and I am helping out with Wikimania 2014 in London.
One of our initiatives is to create leaflets to increase the discoverability of various wikimedia projects, and showcase the breadth of activity within wikimedia. Any kind of project can have a physical paper leaflet designed - for free - as a tool to help recruit new contributors. These leaflets will be printed at Wikimania 2014, and the designs can be re-used in the future at other events and locations.
This is particularly aimed at highlighting less discoverable but successful projects, e.g:
• Active Wikiprojects: Wikiproject Medicine, WikiProject Video Games, Wikiproject Film
• Tech projects/Tools, which may be looking for either users or developers.
• Less known major projects: Wikinews, Wikidata, Wikivoyage, etc.
• Wiki Loves Parliaments, Wiki Loves Monuments, Wiki Loves ____
• Wikimedia thematic organisations, Wikiwomen’s Collaborative, The Signpost

Comment on the WikiProject X proposal
Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
WP:VG comments subpages cleanup
Hi, there is currently a discussion taking place at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Video games#VG comments subpages regarding whether it would be acceptable to permanently shift all comments subpages associated with WP:VG articles into talk. This shift would follow the recommended approach given at WP:DCS. The WikiProject Apple Inc. articles that would be affected by this action are these:
- Cartoon Network Universe: FusionFall
- Matt Casamassina
- Descent (video game)
- Gangstar: West Coast Hustle
- The Settlers II
If you have objections related specifically to WikiProject Apple Inc.'s use of these subpages, please make this clear at the discussion so that other unrelated talk pages can be cleaned up where appropriate. Thank you. -Thibbs (talk) 15:52, 16 October 2014 (UTC)
WikiProject X is live!
Hello everyone!
You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!
Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

MacBook (2015 version) merger discussion
We have reached an impasse in Talk:MacBook (2015 version). Please add your thoughts to the discussion.—Totie (talk) 00:58, 26 April 2015 (UTC)
Merger
I propose that List of products discontinued by Apple Inc. be merged into Timeline of Apple Inc. products. The discontinued article is just a list and contains no specific dates whilst the timeline does and I don't see the need for both articles. MB1972 (talk) 12:38, 8 May 2015 (UTC)

Proposed change to Template:Apple Inc. operating systems
See [7] for proposed change and [8] for previous version.
Changes:
- Total makeover of MacOS section, splitting non-mainline-items into a new sub-section and splitting classic and MacOS into sub-sections
- Total makeover of the Apple I/II/III/Lisa section, removing Apple I as it has no Apple OS and clarifying what OS goes with what line of computer
- Within each list or parenthesized sub-list, Re-order items by approximate initial release date in all sections
- Add a link to the related category Category:Apple Inc. operating systems at the bottom
- Add some other wikilinks and other minor changes
If there are no serious unresolved objections within a week, I plan on implementing the change. If I neglect to do so, I invite any editor to make the change after the discussion, if any, has died down and all serious objections have been dealt with. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 16:41, 12 June 2015 (UTC)
- I have implemented the change. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 20:38, 20 June 2015 (UTC)
Infobox: fonts with OS X
Given how popular OS X is with designers, I thought an infobox listing fonts bundled with OS X and their Wikipedia articles would be nice. (Windows has one.) So I've modified that for OS X as of Yosemite and put it up on my sandbox. Any thoughts? I've just done the Western alphabets for now. (Tried doing this a while back but could never get my head round the coding then.) I think this would be nice on articles for some of the fonts most strongly associated with OS X such as Hoefler Text, Chalkboard, Menlo, Monaco and so on. Blythwood (talk) 23:55, 7 July 2015 (UTC)
This article kinda sucks and it written like they are selling the phone by listing all the countries it is sold in. Should it be merged with iPhone? MB1972 (talk) 11:43, 2 August 2015 (UTC)
- I actually think it's OK. The iPhone article, which should really be more a description of the features and cultural impact of the iPhone would become very lumpy with lots of tables of release dates and that this feature was added with iOS 4.2.7 or whatever. macOS
The new name is already causing some inconsistency across Apple articles, where ‘OS X’ is being replaced. Maybe it would be an idea to form a consistent naming policy for this? See also the on-going discussion at talk:OS X.–Totie (talk) 18:32, 16 June 2016 (UTC)
One of your project's articles has been selected for improvement!
Hello, |
Popular pages report
We – Community Tech – are happy to announce that the Popular pages bot is back up-and-running (after a one year hiatus)! You're receiving this message because your WikiProject or task force is signed up to receive the popular pages report. Every month, Community Tech bot will post at Wikipedia:WikiProject Apple Inc./Archive 3/Popular pages with a list of the most-viewed pages over the previous month that are within the scope of WikiProject Apple Inc..
We've made some enhancements to the original report. Here's what's new:
- The pageview data includes both desktop and mobile data.
- The report will include a link to the pageviews tool for each article, to dig deeper into any surprises or anomalies.
- The report will include the total pageviews for the entire project (including redirects).
We're grateful to Mr.Z-man for his original Mr.Z-bot, and we wish his bot a happy robot retirement. Just as before, we hope the popular pages reports will aid you in understanding the reach of WikiProject Apple Inc., and what articles may be deserving of more attention. If you have any questions or concerns please contact us at m:User talk:Community Tech bot.

Assessment of the article Tim Cook
The article is currently evaluated as being a start-class article. I am uncertain whether this is still an accurate accurate assessment. I suspect the article might qualify for a reassessment as a C-class article. SecretName101 (talk) 05:39, 3 September 2017 (UTC)
