Suspected sockpuppets

[edit]

User:Igoumenitsa1992 was registered three days ago, on 11 August 2024 (CA); that is a little more than two weeks after the last sockpuppets of User:TheHistorianPHD were blocked (SPI case).

Both users appear to have an issue with the Albanian-related content in the page Souliotes. For example, compare the following headings of discussions initiated by them:

  • By User:TheHistorianPHD on 21 July 2024: This article is full of Albanian propaganda. (diff)
  • By User:Igoumenitsa1992 on 14 August 2024: You need to make some Changes. Souliotes were Greeks and they didn't have Albanian origin. As Souliotis this page offending me (diff)

User:Igoumenitsa1992 posted in Talk:Souliotes text that is almost identical to text that had appeared in Souliotes Greece; created by User:TheHistorianPHD, and deleted via an AfD nomination about two and a half weeks ago (see here). According to the nominator, Daniel Quinlan, the aforementioned text appears to have been copied from "https://military-history.fandom.com/wiki/Souliotes or another page originally copied from Souliotes circa 2013". Anyway, compare:

  • Text included in Souliotes Greece; created by User:TheHistorianPHD: The Ottoman Turks attempted numerous times to conquer the territories of the Souliote confederacy. In 1731,Hadji Ahmed received orders from the Sultan to subdue the Souliotes and he lost his army of 8000 men.In 1754,Mustafa Pasha lost his army to the Souliotes as well.In the following years,Mustafa Koka came in with 4000 soldiers and Bekir Pasha with 5000.In the end, both failed to defeat the Souliotes. (diff from aforementioned AfD)
  • Part of comment posted by User:Igoumenitsa1992 in Talk:Souliotes: The Ottoman Turks attempted numerous times to conquer the territories of the Souliot Confederacy. In 1731, Hatzi Achmet, pasha of Ioannina, received orders from the Sultan to subdue the Souliots. He lost his army of 8000 men. In 1754, Mustapha Pasha lost his army to the Souliotes too. In the following years, Mustapha Kokka came in with 4000 soldiers and Bekir Pasha with 5000. Both failed to defeat the Souliotes. (diff)

Furthermore, Kitsos Tzavelas was proposed for deletion by User:TheHistorianPHD on 21 July 2024 (diff); User:Igoumenitsa1992, similarly, deleted the entire infobox from the same page less than a month later, on 13 August 2024 (diff).

I could add more. Demetrios1993 (talk) 14:29, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Edit: Similar to User:TheHistorianPHD (diff1, diff2, diff3, diff4, diff5, diff6, diff7, diff8), User:Igoumenitsa1992 has also ranted – directly and indirectly – about Albanian propaganda (diff1, diff2, diff3); as did User:Adilaugh (diff), a confirmed sockpuppet of the former.

As we can see in EIA, both User:TheHistorianPHD and User:Igoumenitsa1992 disrupted Souliotes and Markos Botsaris, 24 days apart from each other; and Kitsos Tzavelas 21 days apart from each other. This is significant, considering the short span of time between the activities of the two users, their age, and their few contributions.

Furthermore, I know that there is no limit to the number of potential sockpuppets that may be used by User:TheHistorianPHD, but for the sake of being thorough, let me also say that right after their indefinite block at 00:18, 22 July 2024 (block list), the sockmaster claimed – apparently as an exaggeration – that they "can always log in from [their] 16 brothers and sisters account" (diff). Note that User:TheHistorianPHD, as well as the accounts listed in their confirmed and suspected categories, amount to 15.

Lastly, right prior to the appearance of User:TheHistorianPHD in Talk:Souliotes, and about one and a half months prior to the registration of User:Igoumenitsa1992, the IP 2A02:2149:8A53:8100:88D3:C985:4B4A:345E had commented that they were offended by the content in the page, and that they were "from Thesprotia and also from Souli" (diff1, dif2). It would be reasonable to assume that the comment of User:TheHistorianPHD in the same page, which was posted right after, and where they expressed a similar annoyance regarding the content of the article (diff), was written by the same individual that was behind the aforementioned IP address. Now, User:Igoumenitsa1992's username includes the toponym of Igoumenitsa, which is located within the Greek regional unit of Thesprotia; they likewise claimed to be from Souli (read the edit summary in diff1), which is located in Thesprotia as well; and they also claimed to be offended (read the heading in diff2).
