Phil A. Fry was blocked indefinitely for disruptive editing in June 2016. He largely edited generation, music & cartoon articles. HolUp began editing in September 2016. He also largely edits generation, music & cartoon articles. They both seem to edit disruptively in similar ways, such as using misleading edit summaries or using references that do not support the content they are adding to the article.
On Generation Z, both changed the lead to say the cohort ends in the early 2010s. This is an unusual date and I don’t recall anyone else ever trying to make this change. Both users made this change to lead with misleading edit summary: [1],[2] Additionally, both users have added text to article stating the cohort ends in 2012: Here’s Phil saying MSNBC ends Gen Z in 2012 (not supported by source cited) [3]. Here’s HolUp saying author Jean Twenge ends this cohort in 2012 (fulltext behind paywall but abstract doesn’t say this) [4]
Also, both users made the same date change to Atomic Betty: [5],[6]
The same date change to Liberty’s Kids: [7],[8]
A very similar section header change to Miley Cyrus: [9],[10]
The same genre change to Moving Pictures (Rush album):[11],[12] and the same genre change to Permanent Waves: [13],[14] DynaGirl (talk) 18:27, 3 November 2016 (UTC)

User:Phil A. Fry was blocked indefinitely for disruptive editing in June 2016 and User:HolUp was blocked as a sock puppet of Phil A. Fry in November 2016. It appears he continues to edit as various IPs making unreferenced changes or deleting text on generational cohort articles. The main IP account used for this appears to be User:98.237.40.132. This account jumped in after semi-protection expired on Millennials deleting text & references and changing dates in the lead: [15], [16]
IP 98.237.40.132, HolUp and Phil A. Fry all have very similar editing histories (primarily editing generation, music and cartoon articles) and all 3 accounts have made the same genre change for Rush (band), changing the genre to pop- [17], [18], [19].
Also, IP 98.237.40.132 and Phil made the same date change for Len Carson on Cyberchase: [20], [21]
Additionally, IP 98.237.40.132 and Phil made the same section header change to BuzzFeed: [22],[23]
The other IPs geolocate to the same area and edit in the same content areas making unexplained and unreferenced changes. IP 2601:980:8000:f92:8499:b844:8e7d:ec92 and Phil A. Fry made similar unreferenced lead change to MTV Generation [24], [25] and IP 2601:980:8000:338b:a4b2:4cd0:f973:be65 recently made unexplained date changes to lead of Generation Z making it so dates in lead no longer summarize referenced dates in body of article- [26]. IP 73.79.233.189 and HolUp have objected to the same image on Millennials [27], [28]. DynaGirl (talk) 04:49, 5 January 2017 (UTC)

[edit]- Clerk note: HolUp was already blocked from a previous investigation. In my opinion 73.79.233.189 is a different user, that IP has made edits which disagree with the others, geolocates to a different (but nearby) city, and intersects on articles where other obviously unrelated IP editors have participated. 98.237.40.132 appears to be static and has been assigned to this editor at least as far back as April 2016. 2601:980:8000:338b:a4b2:4cd0:f973:be65 is one of a series of IPs used by this same editor over the same period (see history of articles such as B-52s, Devo, Rocket Power, Cuckservative, Oregon Trail Generation, Signals (Rush album) for intersects, or just this page if you have the CIDR gadget enabled) and also locates to the same city; the ranges are 2601:980:8000:f92::/64 (exclusively this user since early December) and 2601:980:8000:338b::/64 (has only edited recently, exclusively this user). The static IP and the two ranges are blocked for 2 weeks. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 14:16, 5 January 2017 (UTC)

User:Phil A. Fry was indefinitely blocked in June 2016 for disruptive editing. In November 2016 User:HolUp was indefinitely blocked as his sock puppet, followed by his various IP sock puppets (User:98.237.40.132, User:2601:980:8000:338b:a4b2:4cd0:f973:be65, User:2601:980:8000:f92:8499:b844:8e7d:ec92) which were blocked in January 2017.
Phil seems to have returned once again, this time as User:OpenYourEyes2.
Examining results from editor interaction utility, User:OpenYourEyes2 overlaps Phil (and his various other socks) on what seems like too many articles to be a coincidence, including multiple obscure, low-traffic cartoon related articles. They also similarly disrupt Millennials and other generational cohort articles by adding original research, deleting sourced content and making disruptive unreferenced date changes, often to the lead, so that dates in the lead no longer summarize the dates in the body of article: [29], [30], [31], [32], [33], [34]
Glancing at User talk:OpenYourEyes2, it appears he has already been blocked in March 2017 for disrupting multiple articles, including Millennials, Rush (band) and Cuckservative (all articles which were involved in previous sock-puppet investigations for Phil). Looking over the edit histories of OpenYourEyes2, Phil, and his other socks, they all primarily edit generation, music and cartoon related articles and seem to be the same user. I personally think that OpenYourEyes2 probably reformed recently. I decide to check this SPI to CU because i don't want to leave this too old, but i am changing my mind. Oh my bad, i shouldn't have checked this for CU before...--SMB99thx XD (contribs) 10:29, 20 June 2017 (UTC)

Looks like a duck to me. Overlap of several distinct topics, obsession with date ranges, and an especially peculiar insistence on defining certain mathematical concepts which clerks can probably see, but I won't get into too much detail on this. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 15:07, 21 June 2017 (UTC)
