This is not necessary and is replaceable; free media can be donated by the copyright holders. File:DA!_band_photo.jpg may also be outside our WP:NFCC as it is also replaceable in the same way, however it is more necessary to visual the band members, and is lower resolution. Decorative non-free newspaper cover used (apparently) just to make the point that a given fact important to the article subject was covered by the press. damiens.rf 19:40, 30 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- I appreciate that more context is required. The reporting of these arrests was of national, if not international, importance. These arrests resulted in life sentences nearly everyone invoked, inc. Nelson Mandela, and set human rights back 25 years. The police were very pleased with themselves. Looking at it with fresh eyes, Rivonia Trial is probably a better location for the image. John Vandenberg (chat) 22:39, 30 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- You say that "The reporting of these arrests was of [great] importance", but then goes on to explain how the arrests themselves were of great importance. We don't use non-free covers of newspapers for every important event we cover in our articles.--damiens.rf 01:25, 1 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Orphan. Also, although the original source says this comics is released under CC-BY-SA, it includes cropped-photos that most likely probably copyvios/fair uses. damiens.rf 19:46, 30 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- I wouldn't agree with the unfounded accusation that this includes copyvios, as this was a notably CC comic strip[2], and these chaps are regularly in front of cameras held by free-libre enthusiasts. However the copyright status isn't worth chasing down because Everybody Loves Eric Raymond has since been deleted. The strip preparation was here. - File:Emanuel school.jpg (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by Yorkshire29 (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).
User's previous upload was "for Wikipedia use only" (since deleted, invalid license). This may have been intended for use the same way, and even if it wasn't, it is of "web quality" (low quality at a size which would be used on a typical website). –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 23:50, 30 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep ? The file appears to be properly licensed GFDL 1.2+; and is informatively being used on the relevant article. Tineye isn't finding any matches on the web to indicate any apparent copyvio or licensing fraud; nor does Google Images for '"Emanuel School" Randwick' or '"Emanuel School" Sydney'. I'm not sure what the problem is here, or what gain would be had by removing it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jheald (talk • contribs)

- File:Braude maccabi.jpg (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by Yorkshire29 (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).
Orphaned, poor quality. Although we can ID the subjects, the uploader has a history of copyvios and other problematic images (most now deleted), and due to the "web quality" of this image, I'm inclined to think that this is another copyvio ("web quality" meaning an image sized for use on a website). –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 23:59, 30 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- So the subject is Laurence Braude, and with him is Michael Einfeld. It's true, the image is pretty rubbish. But I'm not finding anything at least with Tineye and Google to confirm for sure that it is a copyvio. Jheald (talk) 17:07, 1 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Also, technically speaking, the image has no source listed. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 17:38, 1 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
