From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Clubjuggle (talk · contribs) I've been around Wikipedia for a while now, and try to make substantive edits, fight vandalism, help newbies, and keep things civil where I can. I recently passed the 2000-edit mark and thought this might be a good time to seek some feedback. I welcome all input, especially constructive suggestions of how I can improve. In all candor, this request is also being made with an eye toward a possible RfA, as a current admin suggested I consider this. I have not yet made up my mind on whether I'd be interested. The feedback I receive here will be a factor (but not the only factor) in my decision. Thank you! Clubjuggle T/C 15:19, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reviews

  • Two things I noticed whilst glancing through your contribs briefly. I noticed one user's page was filled with 10 or more messages about speedy deletion notification using TW. Giving personal advice and directed messages is definitely a lot better in such a situation. Secondly, try to have a hand at content contribution. Say a topic of your personal interest for a start; Perhaps get a new article or two to Did You Know?. Editors will look at your RfA more favorably if you have substantial editorial and content contributions as the admin corp is in pretty dire need of such "soft skills" when make decision regarding content (e.g. disputes, deletions, BLPs, evaluation of sources etc). Happy editing! - Mailer Diablo 15:40, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
I am proud of my effort around 12-13 July to eliminate a Criticism section from Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now‎, integrating its content into the body of the article. I've also done a fair amount of cleanup on Pennsylvania Turnpike including a complete re-work of the exit list guide.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
I've been involved in some rather heated (at times) discussions at Talk:Barack Obama, in which I've done my best to keep the participants civil and encourage each side to look at the point of view of the other. Though my actions there have not been perfect, they have received support from the majority of editors on all sides of the discussion. In cases where I felt editors were acting disingenuously (my greatest source of stress) I have attempted to engage them directly and politely on their talk pages, as I feel strongly that article talk pages should remain sharply focused on the content of the associated articles. In cases where direct discussion does not resolve the concern, I generally choose to disengage and refer the matter to an uninvolved admin. I anticipate this is how I will continue to manage similar matters in the future, as my wikistress levels tend to remain pretty low.
