Jokestress is harassing me

Hello. Since you seem to be familliar with this topic more than any other random moderator I will ask you for some advice. The user Jokestress has taken to writing disparaging remarks on my user talk page. In particular she seems to imply that my interest in the article we have been trying to collaborate on is due to being sexually attracted to the subject.

I know this process has been frustrating for you, but on these kinds of articles, this has to be done. They tend to be worked on by people who have an erotic fixation on the article's subject, which makes it difficult for them to be objective about content. They become more like fan pages than encyclopedia articles. As I said, if you want to set up an offsite worship page about her, like the old miriamssecret.com fan page, you can add anything you want there. I appreciate your questioning every change I made, since that process always leads to carefully sourced Wikipedia articles. Jokestress 17:22, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

Alcibiades Follow-Up

Hey Yannismarou, my apologies for not writing you in so long or responding to your post on my page until now. indeed i am still around but i just never sign into my account, i read wikipedia daily though (:. i really just had the alcibiades article in my mind when i created the account, as i hardly feel qualified to write on any other subjects and do not have a through understanding of how to navigate and use wikipedia. Speaking of the alcibiades article, my hats off to you, and we both know i can no longer take any real credit for the work as you have done a spectacular job and no small task either to get the article to FA status. just re-doing my citations alone must have taken a lot of work. Clearly the article is as close to finished as a wiki article can be and although my tardiness has prevented me from providing any assistance, i wanted to extend an offer to edit/proofread any future english works of yours, if you are still interested, although i must say that your english is really superb and i'm not sure how useful i can be in such a capacity. take care and keep writing, so I can learn more about ancient history!Dmcheatw 02:54, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Human_rights_of_Kurdish_people_in_Turkey

I will ask you not to revert the deletion of kurdish genocide claims from this article. My justification is that this issue has nothing to do with the article itself. It's quite easy to do if you have some basic software. I've been using Jasc: Paint Shop Pro and Windows Paint. How to do it. Select the backround colour to the word that needs translating. eg: if the background to the word is red, select red. Use that colour with a brush to paint over the 'foreign' word or image. Then simply add the new text. The third map will take a little longer because the background to the words is more complicated ie: the background to a single word can be several colours. Not sure if I've explained it well, but you get the idea I hope :). One to go.

I'm also not the best in copyright issues. But I think that if you do what Micheler proposes, you'll disturb nobody. Put it under GFDL in the way he tell you, and, at the same time, send an e-mail thanking Mr. Sartzetakis. In this e-mail you will inform him that the photo is now published under X license. You'll not ask him something more from him; you'll just thank him, giving him at the same time the opportunity to object. Yannis, please be careful about headdiving into debates like here. You don't know the story.. A user who was involved there had AfDed two towns (you had closed them), made point edits by removing WPTR templates in the talk pages, and literally pestering fact tags over many articles right before. What do you mean by "what I do to other articles"? I have never AfDed articles about Greek or Armenian articles out of spite. I am sorry but had an editor placed two fact tags like you had done, that would have been ok, but why the snipe? I actively tried to calm down the talk page for that article - had you taken a look there btw? Btw, I have to admit that I am a bit disappointed at how you tried to discredit me and Kazakhpol in your post to Steel359. It is bad karma to try to circumvent the normal wikiprocess like that: you know that it is a legitimate content dispute. Anyways.. Baristarim 08:48, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

China Fair Use Tag Deletion

Canildo said "A license template for images that would be permitted under Chinese fair-use law but not US fair-use law. Unfortunately, since Wikipedia is based in the US, we need to follow US law".

I disagree with him on this point. Fair Use in this case, is a common treatment in both systems. Is Wikipedia based on US and English only? How about Canada and Great Britain and other English speaking nations? They all have different law systems. How about other language version of Wikipedia?

Please explain in pratical, how an image created in China which qualifies fair use of Chinese fair-use law would violate US copyright law here, thanks.

I also disagree with his point. The law of China and US are not totally irrelevant. The purpose of both laws are both for justice, fair, protection of the public and punishment the breachers.

I agree there are lots of discrenpencies between two laws. But they not always on the opposite. For example, stealing and rubery are illigal in both systems, and the right for girls to go to school are guarantted in both. Should we say that the illegality of stealing and rubbery are exclusively US illegality, and right of girls go to the school is exclusively US right????Dongwenliang 02:52, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

I don't have any immediate goals to pursue adminship and honestly, I don't know if I'd have the time to do so (though I do find myself spending a considerable amount of time on the site). Books by Susan Alcorn

Hello ... I placed prods on pages for books by this NN author (see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Susan Alcorn (author), which you closed as Delete) but the author removed them after making trivial edits and no comments on the talk pages ... they all lack WP:A to assert WP:BK ... would you be willing list these as a multiple item AfD?

• Richmond - Windows to the Past
• We're in the Mountains Not over the Hill

I would use the following as the reasons:

Article about a book by a NN author (see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Susan Alcorn (author)) that lacks Wikipedia:Attribution and fails Wikipedia:Notability (books) ... also a WP:COI problem since it was created by the author, Backpack45scb.

Military history publication

Hi Yannismarou

I would like to know your opinion. Our current project in MilHist publications is the Punic Wars. Not easy, because Punic and military is a controversial issue in literature, but I like the task. My idea is to start another wikireader project on Athens, to be more precise about Athens from the Ionian Revolt until Alexander reestablishes the Macedonian reign over Greece. I suggest is to name it along the lines of "Athens, history of a great power". There are quite a lot of FAs which do reasonably cover important topics and I consider the teams who created Alcibiades and Pericles among our most capable editors. The problem is whether or not these excellent editors (including you) are interested and naturally it would be up to you what exactly the scope of the reader is.

Archiving of Greece delsort

Hi. I noticed today that you have created an archiving page for AfD discussions related to Greece at Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Greece/2007. Could you please tell me what the purpose of the archive is? It is the only one of its kind (see [1]) and I don't see why old AfD discussions should be archived. I was preparing to nominate it for deletion at WP:MFD, but thought it better to ask you about it first. I'd appreciate your clarification. Thanks, Black Falcon 15:32, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

When I created it, I did not check the existence of not of other similar pages. I just thought that just as we use to archive old-peer-reviews or previous new articles, it would be nice to have a similar archive bases of old AfDs within the scope of WP:GREECE. What is the purpose of archiving peer-reviews? The same. Why do we archive old AfDs in the articles related? In order to have feedback for possible future discussions about the same or similar issue. If we can archive other pages like peer-reviews, and if we can archive AfDs in the related talk pages, I don't see why is it a problem to created a similar archive within the scope of WP:GREECE. Thank you for your response. The fact that previous discussions on articles can be used to shed (some) light on future discussions is something I had not previously considered as an advantage of archiving these pages. In the end, I suppose I'll defer to the members of WikiProject Greece. After all it is they (you) who maintain the delsort page and its archive. Greek Civil War

I can see your point about guerillas. They have "some form" of advantage. I mean, they can rock the boat of a state but turning them over is altogether another thing. They would need to take office, and they would be useless if they couldn't do this from somewhere public, somewhere from where the majority know they are being controlled! They would then require their "freedom fighters" to defend the state, and assume professional roles in a national army, and what does this leave? A politically suppressed majority, left without the right to choose a political leader but all "roughly speaking" of one mind - the intention to bring back the old regime before restoring a limited democracy - so there is only one thing left for them to do - to make their presence known! And if a majority can be turned over by a minority guerilla group, think how quick it will take for a MAJORITY guerilla group to obliterate a minority-rule government. If Guerilla-War is a game for two, then two can play it! If it is only possible for one party at the time, then it is better to surrender sharpish, and then take back control using the same methods. See my point Yannismarou?! President Tito nothing. Without a significant amount of enthusiasm from a relatively high number of Greek individuals, not only would this group lack the sponsorship and support, but there would be nothing to fight for in the first place! If every cleric representing every school of political though around the world was able to drum up revolution using the "few" who believe in him, there would no stability anywhere, ther world would be a jungle. The likes of external support from governments allied to the movement can only support the cause, they cannot act as its pivot (unless they plan to annex the region and forbid political rights of the opponents)! Well I know from my father at the time that Yugoslavia stuck its nose in - hoping to take Northern Greece and join it to SFR Macedonia in the interests of those who you call Slavo-Macedonians to serve their interests as a federal unit, but it never came to our attention that we wanted to take Athens and the islands, become a new Slavic-Greek Communist federation. I was only looking at this from a philosophical angle. Naturally if Greece was a free and democratic country, then there are statistics which prove that the Communist support was no more than 20%. I suppose that may be a relative majority if nobody is any higher, but then again, if the smaller units all have one thing in common - anti-Communism, they could form a block as perhaps they did. You know the events extremely well. Either way, there must have been a "swing margian", a large section of society open to each side's propaganda, never sure from one day to the next who they follow. There always is where it is a civil conflict. Well you've proved that the KKE were a minority, I don't know about those being outright againsty them and in support of the post-Metaxas regime being an absolute majority at the "beginning stages". That is where the enthusiasm and the drive originates from, where the new hope is born, from the start of a conflict. You see Yannismarou, I am not to the left or the right. I often appear to some that I defend communism but what I am really doing is raising the facts which are overlooked and misappropriated by those opposed to it. I will not rise and produce notes about how lovely life was living in 60's 70s and 80s Yugoslavia either (the BMWs and the $100,000 per year jobs which weren't here). I only aim to establish fact from fiction, POV from NPOV by applying the very logic that biased news reporters and government organizations fail to do. Balkantropolis 12:29, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

In all these processes of review and correction I have definitely learn a lot more about contributing to Wikipedia. Because you have read and reviewed the article recently and you are quite active in reviewing FAC, I would like to ask you which are the problems this article should have to cope with to go for FAC. That is I am asking you for an informal review, as requests for the more official peer reviews are generally neglected and take a lot of time with very few responses (rarely more than one and I know the one will probably be you :)). On the other hand, going for FAC without being as ready as possible is just time consuming for the reviewers there. I understand, of course, that now the criteria are even more strict. Hannah Rosebery

Thanks for your very kind and flattering words here [2]. I don't own the page but I really am through with FAs and would really prefer it if you did not to nominate it. I have written quite a few FAs and the novelty has truly worn off and now I prefer just to write what I consider half decent pages to my own standards that don't have to be constantly defended and made to conform to someone else's standards. Anyway, past experience tells me she has too many red links in the lead, and there really should be a section on her philantropy, which would make the page far too long, though I may one day write it, and the political section is very long and would be declared boring at FAC, but it is all important stuff and puts her real personality in context, so I would not want to remove any of it just to please a knitpicker. I do beleive she is better off as she is and anyone wanting to research her will come away knowing almosy all that is available. I have a couple of other "non-FAs" lurking about the site and they are all better (in my opinion) for their lowly status. Thanks though for your words though - praise is always welcome!
