Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Albertus Soegijapranata, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Dutch culture. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:15, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I just saw your edit at Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Please do not add excessive wikilinks such as Bible and England in this edit. These links are not likely to aid the reader's understanding significantly. Your addition of excessive wikilinks to many articles are not helpful; they have to be corrected by other editors.

Please think twice before adding wikilinks and please read the relevant section in our manual of style, MOS:OVERLINK. Following MOS:OVERLINK will help you to avoid getting into wikipedia-trouble. Thank you JimRenge (talk) 08:47, 25 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

João da Costa Tavares moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, João da Costa Tavares, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. ~StyyxTalk? 20:31, 8 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Translation

[edit]

Please refrain from copy-pasting machine translated blocks of text. Dahlan Djambek's article contained a lot of noticeable grammatical and text mistakes that I assume originated from poor translation of the Indonesian language version. Juxlos (talk) 16:03, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I might just suck at Indonesian Technetium 99m (talk) 16:11, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The Indonesian version of the articles are fine. The English translations have illegible sections and very weird wording choices “Officer of the Indonesian Army Chief of Staff” or “military figure”. Translate the meaning, not the words. If you do not know what it means, I recommend being a bit more cautious with translating. Juxlos (talk) 23:36, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Indonesian Wikipedia is just plain bad, with flowery language all around, I usually compare the two versions and make it more factly, but I'm still getting used to the Wikipedia style Technetium 99m (talk) 16:16, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy tagging

[edit]

Why did you tag Counter Revolutionary Warfare Unit Court Martial, Fiji as an WP:A3?--Bbb23 (talk) 13:42, 29 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It may be the wrong tag, but i Do think it should be deleted, the small paragraph says nothing about the unit, it also has no substance, a small paragraph that would probably be lumped in with the actual coup, it say nothing about a court martial, Technetium 99m (talk) 14:31, 29 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Infoboxes....

[edit]

You're going to need a better reason than "keeping in line with other articles". Especially when those articles are done badly.

I'm keeping it in line with [[Roaring Twenties and other articles. I'm also not pretending they are "former countries". And I'm using an appropriate infobox.

And it's also just rude to revert people's work without a decent explanation. --Merbabu (talk) 11:16, 21 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion

[edit]

Always helps - just reverting edits with limited explanation, can be a problem. Edit summaries are insufficient space to deal with issues - either the talk page of the articles - or the project noticeboard. Take care, reverting can lead to WP:3RR territory - discussion usually does not and shows more WP:AGF. JarrahTree 11:19, 21 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or to provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances that your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits, an adequate summary may be quite brief.

The edit summary field looks like this:

Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to Armenia, Azerbaijan, or related conflicts, a topic designated as contentious. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially-designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Operation Alpha 29

[edit]

Hi: I am a coordinator for the Wikiproject military history. I have reviewed the assessment of the article Operation Alpha 29. Can you clarify these two sentences: "They also found traces in the river and saw three people next to the river but immediately disappeared. The task force team then tried to approach the unknown people in silence." It seems that the word "they" should be inserted between "immediately" and "disappeared." If so, does the next sentence need to be clarified or expanded. Otherwise, if the people disappeared, does it easily follow that the team approached the unknown people in silence without further explanation? I realize you did not write the article but only edited it. On the other hand, you appear to be the only recent editor who might know anything about this, can read the source and make any change that might be needed. Thanks.
