User talk:SigmaEpsilon
NOTE: If you've come here to ask me about fiction-related articles, please do not! |
| |
I'm sick of all the fighting over what is or isn't OR or whether or not things are notable. I'm sick of whining from both sides. I've decided to allow the involved parties to argue among themselves and just forget about editing fiction-related articles myself. - SigmaEpsilon → ΣΕ 22:49, 15 August 2007 (UTC) |
About Wikipedia
[edit]Signature
[edit]You can copy someone else's signature, and then experiment with changing it on the "preferences" page (using the sandbox is the best way) — see Wikipedia:Signature. The Greek characters (without diacritics) are available on the ordinary editing page (down at the bottom, under the "save page"/"show preview" buttons; for other character sets you can use HTML Unicode; have a look at meta:Help:Special characters. I hope that this helps. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 09:47, 29 October 2005 (UTC)
Re: Edit counter
[edit]Thanks for the heads up. I haven't checked my edit count in a while. I found this tool that works very well. You also mentioned that you're not sure how to link it in your signature. You can view my signature template here if it's something you're interested in. Thanks again! Jtrost (T | C | #) 15:15, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

Broken link
[edit]Thanks - I appreciate you catching the broken link to the edit counter. I've repaired it. Cheers! --Ckatzchatspy 20:36, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
Glad I could reword it to make everyone happier. I would be careful though about labeling something vandalism. Try to assume good faith of other editors. There is a Wikipedia policy somewhere about this, though I'm not willing ot look it up. Thanks for spotlighting the original edit though! Rkevins82 - TALK 22:25, 20 October 2005 (UTC)
Alright
[edit]It's ok, I just don't like to be accused of things that I didn't do. If I had done it then I wouldn't have a problem with accepting my mistake. Granted, I should have paid a bit more attention to what it said originally, I probably would have made the same changes you did. I was only seeing the capitals altered to lowercase. Concerning 23 (numerology)
[edit]Not Contrived
[edit]You might be surprised to find out that neither example is contrived. They both come out of number theory. happy number and birthday paradox are both legitimate terms. Now placing the number of letters in happy in front of the 6, may have been a bit of discordian numerology, but I suspect I was practicing discordianism before you were born. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by RDates (talk • contribs) 22:46, 10 May 2007 (UTC).
Can't Count

SVG table
[edit]Thanks, I appreciate it. I think the real problem is with the thumbnail generation from SVGs. It seems to work only 3/4 of the time or so. Once there's a bad thumbnail it seems to stick around forever (though sometimes cache purging works). So switching the thumbnail sizes is probably what did it, but I appreciate having the gallery working! — brighterorange (talk) 15:30, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

HappySlip
[edit]Hi, I don't understand why you removed part the HappySlip article I wrote saying it had no reference; the link provided was bringing to a page listing the cumulative views of YouTube users, and that was the reference. I'm reverting the change, tell me if there's anything wrong. bye --Outspan 22:14, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
- 2M are the channel views, not the total views. this is the reference and she is at the bottom of the page, they are cumulative views and it says 17M :P bye! --Outspan 22:43, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Committed identity
[edit]The committed identity scheme came up during a spat of compromised admin accounts earlier this year. The committed identity works by changing a phrase of your choice into a cryptographic hash that (as of now) cannot be broken. If and when your account is compromised (leading to its indefinite block), you can reclaim it (theoretically) by verifying your identity with this scheme. You provide the phrase to a trusted user or the Wikimedia Foundation and they will see if the hash resulting from the phrase matches the one you had given (posted on your user page, as many have done). —Kurykh 22:14, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Hey, SigmaEpsilon. Awhile back you cleaned up my [[User:The Random Editor/Userboxes. I changed it so feel free to clean it up again. --Thε Rαnδom Eδιτor (tαlk) 23:37, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
Re: (User talk:ais523) Your signature
[edit]I customized my signature by adding the timestamp to the signature's code itself, and I sign with three tildes (~~~) rather than four to prevent the software adding a second timestamp automatically. Here's the code for my sig, if you're interested:
--ais523 , (UTC)
Hope that helps! --ais523 15:53, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
Heroes
[edit]You weighed in this summer about the Helix, and which appearances should be included [1]. the topic has come up again. If you still have an opinion on this, it would be welcomed. ThuranX 05:59, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
peer review
[edit]I was wondering if you could take some time out of your schedule to head over to the Heroes (TV series) talkpage and give us an honest peer review. The page has gone through some major changes in the last few months, and it would be fantastic if a prominent editor/contributor like yourself, could head over and give us at the Heroes Wikiproject some sound opinion and ideas on improvements for the page. We have all worked very hard at improving the page, and we need great outside, reliable and trustworthy users to come over and help us improve. I you are interested in joining the peer review discussion with other prominent users/contributors, much like yourself, please follow the link. Thank you very much for your help and your continued effort to improve Wikipedia and its quality! Main Page redesign
[edit]The Main Page Redesign proposal is currently conducting a straw poll to select five new designs, before an RFC in which one will be proposed to replace the Main Page. AfD nomination of The World Can't Wait
[edit]An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is The World Can't Wait. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The World Can't Wait. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.
Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:16, 28 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Possible removal of AWB access due to inactivity
[edit]Hello! There is currently a request for approval of a bot to manage the AutoWikiBrowser CheckPage by removing inactive users, among other tasks. You are being contacted because you may qualify as an inactive user of AWB. First, if you have any input on the proposed bot task, please feel free to comment at the BRFA. Should the bot task be approved, your access to AWB may be uncontroversially removed if you do not resume editing within a week's time. This is purely for routine maintenance of the CheckPage, and is not indicative of wrongdoing on your part. You will be able regain access at any time by simply requesting it at WP:PERM/AWB. Thank you! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 23:36, 8 November 2016 (UTC)
