I know it's a pain, but you could possibly drop him another line requesting a specific license, like the GFDL? See User:Videmus Omnia/Requesting free content for the format that I use. I understand this is a hassle (image licensing issues can be complex here), but I'm afraid the photo will probably be deleted unless a specific free license is granted by the copyright holder. Goodwin Sports Centre

Hiya: Ordnance survey map for 1903 shows the three dams which called Godfrey Dam, New Dam and Old Great Dam.

Extract from Rivelin Valley Conservation Group says:

These dams were built either side of Northumberland Rd (at the time called Dam Lane) and all were intended to impound water from the local springs. With the exception of the Old Great Dam all the dams have now been filled in and are part of Sheffield University Goodwin Sports Complex.

The sports pitches on Whitham Rd opposite Weston Park Hospital are the site of Godfrey Dam, built in 1790 and extended in 1853. On the opposite side of Northumberland Rd was New Dam built in 1787 and enlarged in 1809. Nearer Crookesmoor Rd alongside Narrow Walk were Ralphs and Misfortune Dams, with Butchers Dam on the opposite side of Northumberland Rd.

The dams together with the Old Great Dam supplied water to the town via a working reservoir at Portobello (near the old Jessop’s Hospital) to a stone cistern in Division St from where it was distributed to various parts of town.

Request for help concerning energy...

Hi,

I noticed you listed yourself as a participant of the Energy WikiProject.

There are 2 new outlines in this area that attempt to consolidate Wikipedia's coverage of their respective subjects, gathering and organizing the articles about them into one place and including descriptions for convenience. The purposes of these outlines are to make it easier for readers to survey or review a whole subject, and to choose from Wikipedia's many articles about it.

The new energy outlines are:

• Outline of solar energy
• Outline of wind energy

Please take a look at them, and....

if you spot missing topics, add them in.

if you can, improve the descriptions.

add missing descriptions.

show parent-offspring relationships (with indents).

fix errors.

Building outlines of existing material (such as Wikipedia) is called "reverse outlining". Reverse outlines are useful as a revision tool, for identifying gaps in coverage and for spotting poor structuring.

Revising a work with multiple articles (such as Wikipedia) is a little different than revising a paper. But the general principles are the same...

As you develop these outlines, you may notice things about the articles they organize. Like what topics are not adequately covered, better ways to structure and present the material, awkward titles, articles that need splitting, article sections lacking {{Main}} links, etc.

Callooh Callay Bar

I don't disagree with your opinion of the bar, but this edit - [1], now removes all mention of the bar, despite the redirect pointing there: Callooh Callay Bar. As we both created this situation (me by doing the merge, you by removing all the material), I suppose it's up to us to sort it out. I can't speedy delete it as there is a credible and sourced claim of notability. Do you think at this stage we need to take it to AfD? SilkTork ^{✔Tea time} 12:01, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

Having had a look at the bar's page prior to it being merged I would have been happy to speedy delete it as per Wikipedia:G11, regardless of the fact that it has been mentioned in a newspaper review once. SheffGruff (talk) 12:12, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

Ah, well, don't mention that if you ever try for RfA! ;-) If you'll note, four different admins have edited the article, and none of us have either deleted it, or tagged it for deletion. That's because there is a credible claim of notability, and the article has had that since inception. I would have prodded it, but merging is a viable option, and is encouraged per WP:PROD and WP:LOCAL. What I suggest is that I will restore the Pubs section of Shoreditch as a viable section, per Covent_Garden#Pubs_and_bars, and look to build on it. Would that be acceptable to you? I'd be happy for Shoreditch to have a pubs section (it is full of them after all) and for a mention of the bar to re-appear but I'm cautious about the ratings prose. I don't really think an encylopaedia should contain details of every pub/restaurant review ever made in a newspaper, particularly when said reviews are four years old. With the review content gone there isn't really much notable prose left for this pub save for an entry in a list. I'd consider moving the redirect to AfD if you don't think speedy delete is appropriate. SheffGruff (talk) 13:26, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

AfD is fine. I merged it in the first place because I didn't think the place was notable, but a straight delete wasn't viable because it had multiple mentions in reliable sources (I only brought over one). Bear in mind, that you'd be obliged to do a WP:Before search if you want to list it on AfD. I didn't fancy that because with pubs it can be tricky as they tend to get a lot of mentions, so you often have to wade through a lot of material, and then make a judgement. I'm assuming at the moment your comments are based purely on what was in the Shoreditch article, and you haven't looked back at the Callooh Callay Bar article, nor done any research. Your comments mention only the one review. Do the research first - you may be somewhat surprised at what's out there, even on a basic, superficial search! ;-) SilkTork ^{✔Tea time} 16:57, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
