Wikipedia needs pictures. How you can help...

Wikipedia always needs free images! If you have a collection of photos you have taken, consider articles that might benefit from any of them. If you have a camera, look for important subjects in your area. Maybe you can fulfill a picture request. Metro stations and notability

[edit]

Please be aware that newly-created articles are expected to meet the general notability guideline, which specifies that articles need to be supported by citations to multiple independent reliable sources with significant coverage (emphasis mine) of the subject. Articles you recently created, such as Mahadevapura metro station and Benniganahalli metro station, among others, do not meet this standard, as they lack citations to significant coverage of those specific stations. If such coverage cannot be found, the redirects to the general line that the stations appear on should be restored, and content about specific stops can be added at the line-level articles. signed, Rosguill talk 21:10, 22 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Benniganahalli metro station moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Benniganahalli metro station, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. scope_creepTalk 15:01, 21 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello sir, I'll take your point for this metro station. But now, I'm asking you to kindly change the draft of Benniganahalli metro station (Part of Purple Line of Namma Metro) to the main article as this is part of that extension and the head has given us some latest news updates which I'll be adding to it in few moments from now. Santosh4118 (talk) 07:56, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Also, I'll need your help in expanding the Bangalore map because the metro station points are off-scale from the map like after Nallurhalli metro station towards Whitefield metro station, and I'm not sure how to expand the map points. Santosh4118 (talk) 08:13, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Station layouts

[edit]

Hi. There is community consensus against adding layout schemes to railway stations. I can not find it very quickly now, but if you are in doubt you can ask at the corresponding Wikiproject. Ymblanter (talk) 11:56, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Wait, may be I am wrong. Will come back in a second. Ymblanter (talk) 12:02, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
May I know what's the confusion? Santosh4118 (talk) 12:04, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I thought there is consensus not to add these templates, but I also see some of them used in good articles. I will now revert myself and ask at the Wikiproject. Ymblanter (talk) 12:10, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I asked the question here. My apologies for the confusion. Ymblanter (talk) 12:15, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Can you explain why you removed the notability template? Thank you. Timothytyy (talk) 07:39, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

What do you mean by "clearly mentioned with the coordinates"? Have you read through the notability guidelines? Timothytyy (talk) 07:06, 25 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hey,
I'd suggest wait for the official notice from the authorities and then add the wiki information. Although Amritsar-New Delhi is in news, it's not fully confirmed by the authorities. So I'd suggest wait for more news articles and then add the relative information accordingly (same applicable for Indore-Surat). Any other information needed, you can let me know. [edit]

Template:Agra Metro has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the entry on the Templates for discussion page. Gonnym (talk) 09:41, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Gonnym,
I'd like to know the reason for deletion of the above mentioned template. This metro system was inaugurated in the month of March 2024 and those stations are considered as per the officials of UPMRC. What more info is needed? Kindly clarify. Santosh4118 (talk) 01:44, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
A navbox with too few links isn't helpful for navigation. This template has only 2 links. Gonnym (talk) 12:18, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Creating new articles about upcoming train services

Please don't do that. Create articles after the services have started running and all the necessary information is available. Arnav Bhate (talk) 10:55, 17 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Arnav Bhate,
I made this because I work with the assistant of the Madurai Division under Indian Railways and these are confirmed reports. If still needed to wait, then I'll do it that way. Thanks. Santosh4118 (talk) 01:24, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia does have the policy of no original research. Arnav Bhate (talk) 09:31, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Agra Metro templates indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. plicit 13:17, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please quote the reason for the deletion of this upcoming metro service in Madurai. Thank you. Santosh4118 (talk) 01:09, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sure: "No transclusions or incoming links." Templates that are not used are often deleted (see the last bullet point in the guidelines). – Jonesey95 (talk) 01:11, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Jonesey95,
The reason being that Madurai Metro DPR is getting approved and the construction work will be starting soon. Please let me know what next will happen. Santosh4118 (talk) 01:27, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Once the metro lines and stations exist, and they receive news coverage in reliable sources, articles about the lines and stations can be created. I recommend using existing infobox templates in those articles. There should be no reason to create a new template to write articles about typical metro lines and stations. – Jonesey95 (talk) 01:31, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Jonesey95,
So what's the next step for this? Santosh4118 (talk) 01:42, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If the template has no use after a week, it will probably be deleted. I think I explained everything else above. – Jonesey95 (talk) 01:51, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Jonesey95,
I'd say leave it as it as the upcoming weeks, there might be updates. So it's fine. Santosh4118 (talk) 01:52, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion discussion about HBR Layout metro station

[edit]

Hello Santosh4118, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, HBR Layout metro station, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/HBR Layout metro station.

Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|North8000}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

(Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

North8000 (talk) 22:00, 25 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey @North8000,
Sorry for the late reply and I'd like to inform you that it's a proper upcoming metro station and I'm going to upload an image of the under construction metro station. Kindly accept that as a proper under construction metro station. Thank you. Santosh4118 (talk) 09:18, 5 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Santosh4118 The issue isn't whether it is a proper metro station. The issue is whether or not the subject meets the sourcing requirements of WP:GNG which is the relevant Wikipedia requirement for existence as a separate article. My suggestion to avoid frustration is before starting a station article to find 1-2 sources which cover the topic in detail / in depth. If so, suggest using them to build the article, and if not, suggest not starting a separate article on the station. Maybe include it is a broader article such as on the entire line. By count, the majority of train stations do not meet Wikipedia's WP:notability requirement for existence as a separate article. But some do. Happy editing! Sincerely, North8000 (talk) 16:41, 5 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@North8000,
I will try to find more updating sources henceforth. Thank you. Santosh4118 (talk) 01:17, 6 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
