Explanation of Current Project - Indiana High School Athletic Association Conferences
[edit]This Project involves the creation of stub pages for each conference in Indiana. In most cases, all of the information is coming from http://www.ihsaa.org. When finished, I intend to expand them to the depth of information found in the Pocket Athletic Conference or the Southern Indiana Athletic Conference. Each Conference will come complete with a map of the members counties in Indiana, A wikitable with the the member schools, their location, mascot, colors, county, and IHSAA Class, and sometimes even enrollment. In each case all information is coming from one of two sources and either is verifiable. One is found at http://www.ihsaa.org/school_rosters_frame.htm which contains membership for all of the conferences. The other is a PDA page located at http://www.ihsaa.org/school-directory/SchoolDirectory2.pdf. This is an Adobe Acrobat File which contains very detailed infromation on all of Indiana's almost 400 schools.
Please do not delete any of these pages as they are legit and very time consuming to replace.
Progress Can be tracked by the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) Template
As of 08/04/08: 23 out of the IHSAA's 50 Conferences are completed or 45%
As of 08/07/08: 29 or 58%
As of 08/12/08: 34 or 68%
As of 08/21/08: 46 or 92%
As of 08/27/08: 50 or 100% of primary project completed. (Completed at 19:45 (CDT)
Now Concentrating on the IHSAA Independents as the 51st Conference page and making it the fourth IHSAA School Page.
Then Around Sept 1, phase II begins:
This will take me through each of the conference pages and adding the state finalist and runnerups for each school (if any).
Planned Completion: 09/20/08 (I HOPE)
It has come to my attention that the second page of my conference lists has disappeared. So, I feel I should explain the secondary project to the above project. I intend to finish the incomplete detailed list of Indiana's Conferences. Indiana has 50 conferences so I planned four pages, the first two with 17 conferences each, the third with 16, and the fourth being a detailed list of the IHSAA Independents with around 20 schools. All four pages will be uniform with backround shading based on the school's status; multi-county, private, military, not playing football or affiliated with one of the three football conferences. Like the conference pages themselves the conference list has at least two sources from the Authority in Indiana Sports, the IHSAA, and for Mount Carmel, the IHSA. Everything from the location, name, mascot, colors, enrollment, and county are found in the PDA directory file http://www.ihsaa.org/school-directory/SchoolDirectory2.pdf. I have even gotten into the habit of listing the school's ID # for that list. To comfirm the information is legit, all that you need to do is scroll down to the ID number listed by the name (example:Gibson Southern ID: 127). The ID number are not always determined by the school's name for example, Northwest High School (169) comes aphabetacally before Northwestern High School (262). This is because Northwest High School is ID as Indianapolis Northwest High School. Other Indy are schools are in their correct alphabetic place. Other example would be for Elkhart, Evansville, Fort Wayne, Gary, Lafayette, Muncie, South Bend, and Terre Haute, all the way down to Vincennes, Washington, Jasper, and Madison.Rhatsa26X (talk) 01:16, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
I have made a minor adjustment to the conference rosters. After the pages were redirected, I changed them to include the ranges of the names on the roster. They are now Indiana High School Athletics Conferences: Adams County - Metropolitan, Indiana High School Athletics Conferences: Mid-Eastern - Northwestern, and Indiana High School Athletics Conferences: Ohio River Valley - White River. Please leave them that way.Rhatsa26X (talk) 21:31, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

State templates
[edit]Please stop adding nicknames to state templates: it's quite nonstandard, and it makes the templates display improperly. As well, altering the colors is a huge change (all county templates are colored according to the state template), so it is definitely not a change that should be made without extensive discussion. Nyttend (talk) 23:14, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Someone changed Indiana's colors as well. It was a dark blue with gold letters, similar to Nevada, and I did not do that. The Nicknames have yet to cause any inproper features aside from the nicknames showing up. The nicknames need to be added state template so they can displayed without showing up when they are collapsed. Most cases I just blended the nicknames in to the template. Two wikipedians have been "standardizing" the state templates and I only did five, which I'll eventually change back, if Indiana's is restored back to dark blue.
- What do you mean? According to your contributions, you did over thirty state templates just in the last 1½ hours. Moreover, this and this edits were both your doing; the only recent changes to the color of {{Indiana}} have been by those restoring it to its normal color. Nyttend (talk) 23:38, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
What I mean is that Indiana, like many states was the color of the flag, I will restore those well actually only 5 states which colors changed. Yes I added nicknames to 45 templates in an hour and a half, but I only changed five colors. As for the others I only added nicknames. The ones I did change were California, Michigan, Oklahoma, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. The others I left and Only added the Nicknames in Small Type even going through the trouble of making the font color the same as the rest of the template. Its really harmless and adds some pride to the states.
Basically what I am getting at is the State Template needs to modified to include their nicknames, preferably in a smaller type but bigger than the capital. Some nicknames identify the state better than the name. Several of them are older than their state is. Like for example what do you think of when the name "Hoosier" is used?: Indiana, right? or the Lone Star; Texas, a name which is older than the state, since the Lone Star Flag was adopted before statehood. Here's another; Old Dominion; Virginia, or "Land of Lincoln"; Illinois. Both State have used their nicknames on their plates for over twenty consecutive years. The only reason Indiana doesn't is because of Purdue University and Indiana University fierce rivalry, otherwise it would have as well.
Speedy deletion of Indiana Business College
[edit]A tag has been placed on Indiana Business College, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. KurtRaschke (talk) 00:39, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
I wrote it using the limited information available. I have added a hangon tag to this article and expect you to explain why you have nominated it for speedy deletion. Rather than deleting this page, I seriously implore you to consider improving it. This is at best a stub of an actual Indiana College and deleting it would be premature. Oh by the way, It adverstising IS your reason for this delete, than Wikipedia should consider deleting ALL College articles as most of them have some advertising point of view. High School colors
[edit]Please stop adding colors to the names of high schools in the infoboxes. That is not standard and does not comply with WP:MOS. In many cases colors and enlargement of the name does not look very good at all. School colors are already listed below in the infobox and do not need to be applied to the title. Thanks for your work with the Athletic conferences; the articles look very nice. I however have moved the titles because it is against WP:NC to use "Page2", "Page 3" for a continued list. Reywas92Talk 19:17, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
A Compromise
[edit]I will finish removing the color, but in return, restore the medium text. This makes them similar to the Infobox_University format.Rhatsa26X (talk) 21:18, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- Wait! That might work, but rather than having < span > text making them all medium, I can simply edit the Template to do it everywhere. Reywas92Talk 23:05, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
That will work Rhatsa26X (talk) 04:08, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
Seriously, please don't add a span to the header of school infoboxes making the font medium. That is not standard. It doesn't matter if the infobox for universities has a larger header than the infobox for other schools; it doesn't achieve anything to add the span to just a few schools. And for some of the schools, you obviously don't know what "native name" in the infobox means. It's not to rearrange the school name with the city, it's for schools in other countries to show the school name in the native language was before being translated. Thank you. Reywas92Talk 23:02, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
The template header is still too small. As for the other, You may know that many schools in Indiana are known by two names, the Local Name like say Benjamin Bosse High School and the IHSAA designation used outside Evansville. To anybody in Gibson or any other county, the school is called Evanville Bosse. Its the same way with the schools in Indianapolis, even the ones outside of Indy but are in Marion county are often called Indianapolis ... High School. Indiana just has that peculiarity to it. Trust me, the so-called "Native Names" are nothing more that what the school is referred to by local residents whether it is english or not, while the larger bolder name is what the school is referred to by the region or the IHSAA. It may not be standard, but it is consistent. The IHSAA uses this system because there are at least 15 schools that if you did not add the city name to it, would have the exact same name and some even have the same namesake. Thank You for your concern. Rhatsa26X (talk) 04:15, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
- It is in no way consistent to only list the name used colloquially for only some Indiana schools while there are thousands more schools that don't use the native names parameter incorrectly. At the very least they would definitely need to be swapped; the official school name (i.e. the article title, in this case Benjamin Bosse High School) should be listed in the name parameter, and the name using the city (Evansville Bosse) should go under native name. Thanks, Reywas92Talk 20:47, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
Time for the Missouri Approach!
[edit]This is getting nowhere fast. I have been making concessions on this issue, but it seems I will have to use the Missouri Approach and show you exactly what it is I am intending to do here in the long term.
Since you are from Fishers, Indiana, I am going to use two Hamilton County High Schools in my illustration.
Fishers High School | |
---|---|
Address | |
13000 Promise Road , , 46038 United States | |
Information | |
School district | Hamilton Southeastern Schools |
This is Fishers High School's infobox using the standard Schools Template.
Carmel High School | |
---|---|
Information | |
Motto | Veritas Scientia Mores (Truth Knowledge Character) |
Established | 1887 |
This is Carmel High School's infobox, notice that it uses the University Template
Gibson Southern High School | |
---|---|
Address | |
3499 W County Road 800 S (3499 Coal Mine Road) , | |
Information | |
School district | South Gibson School Corporation |
This is my high school alma-matter, Gibson Southern High School's template.
Fishers and Gibson Southern use the same template but now the heading is consistent with Carmel High School.
This is what I am trying to do here, now that I have figured out how to do it.
Do you get it now. I am simply trying to simalarize the heads of the university template which is used on Carmel High School's page with the schools template used on Fishers and Gibson Southern High Schools' pages.
I have just completed some research on how to make both head fonts appear the same size. Since the school and university templates are protected this is going to have to be manually done for the time being. I am not giving up on this, as the standardization of both templates is my every intention.
Using the span style font-size:10.5pt , the Carmel High School and the Gibson Southern High School templates now have the same font style and size. This should no longer be a problem now, is it. When it is done ALL High School Templates in Indiana will look the same and Gibson Southern's template will look like it did when I made it in October 2006 as part of my first article. It DID look like the Gibson Southern example, NOT like the Fishers example.

20:52, 8 January 2009 (Indiana's CORRECT TIME)
- I know what you are tyring to do; you don't have to show me; that's just not how you do it! You do not manually add this span to only Indiana articles. First, Carmel High School should not have the University infobox. If you want conformity in Indiana HS articles, try fixing that. The way to fix some things in a template is not to edit every article with the template, but to go straight to the source. I have requested an edit to Template talk:Infobox School to have this corrected in every article automatically. Thank you for your understanding. Reywas92Talk 03:14, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of WRAY-FM/AM

Speedy deletion of Indiana Class AAAAA Football Membership
[edit]A tag has been placed on Indiana Class AAAAA Football Membership requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

It all depends on YOUR definition of indiscrinitate information. There are other such lists for other conferences in Indiana that are just like this one and several for Illinoian Conferences that look like a running gag. Why don't we just eliminate all local referent articles and say at local small town or rural area information isn't worth being written. It would, however, be more constructive to try to find the information and add to the information, not just write it off because it seems incomplete, which it is. I am working on adding to this area, provided that it still exists when I can get around to it. After all, I do happen to have a full time job and can't always be around to address every discrepancy that occurs. Unfortunately the IHSAA does not keep conference records or this list, as well as the fall and winter lists and even the same lists for the other area conferences would have been completed months ago. Instead it involves a very exausting search through seemingly vast enclaves of data parts of which are inaccessible. Rhatsa26X (talk) 02:54, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

I used a blank .png map of the US, colored the visited stated maroon and my lived states gold. then uploaded the map. The map is public domain and it should be a .png and I don't mind it. .png maps, unlike jpegs can be altered easily and quickly with little or no fuss at all. An old article you created
[edit]I wonder if you might look over Mid-Indiana Football Conference, an article you created and has been largely edited by only you. I had a couple of attempts at editing it, but was uncertain what it is intending to say so did not save. Since you are more experienced than when you created it I am certain you could clean it up fairly quickly. Cheers, LessHeard vanU (talk) 21:02, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you for your response to my talkpage. After reviewing your edits I had a go at cleaning up the article - as a Brit I have no knowledge of the particulars (what I call football you likely know as "soccer"), so I tried to make it understandable for an outsider. I trust my edits have kept the piece within the original intent. LessHeard vanU (talk) 23:31, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
Nameplate capacity
[edit]If you use a weird term such as nameplate capacity, you should create it as a link. You should also give units. "1,094 nameplate capacity" - do you really mean 1,094 MW? — RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 02:43, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
- It is a jargon term that indicates the total maximum output of all generators at full power. Also known as aggregate capacity. Rhatsa26X (talk) 02:47, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
You don't tell me here or on my user talk page - you just go and edit the article!!! I have done it for you. You missed my point: "nameplate capacity" is a perfectly OK term to use here providing you make it into a wikilink. But omitting the units is unforgivable!
You are an Haworth and one who knows how to spell it! What a co-incidence. Can you trace your family history back to Lancashire and especially the Rossendale Valley? Welcome to Wikipedia. — RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 11:43, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
Original research on origin of name "Escambia"
[edit]The material you added to Escambia County, Florida and Escambia County, Alabama on the origin of the name "Escambia" was original research, which is not allowed in Wikipedia. The Escambia County, Alabama government web site, which was the 6th item in a Google search for "Escambia meaning", attributes the name to the Creek language (which was already in the article for Escambia County, Alabama). I have reverted your original research from the articles and cited the web site for the Creek language as the source of the name. Please do not add original research to Wikipedia. -- Donald Albury 12:06, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

Ship articles
[edit]There are a few things I have observed you doing recently. One, removing {{fact}} without citing the disputed statements is against policy, do not do that again. Second, you have not been italicizing ship names, something which is proscribed in the MOS. Thirdly, you are mis-using the fields of the infoboxes and messing with the succeeded by fields needs to be discussed if there is something already there. -MBK004 05:13, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
If you're referring to the USS Forrestal article, I effortlessly found an article that confirms why the ship was called the FID and what it stands for. I put both in parenthesis beneath the FID entry. My dad served on board the the Forrestal for five years and I have heard the ship called each of the mentioned nicknames plus "The Hot Lady", "The Modern Powderkeg" and "The Fire on Water," a parody of the song "Smoke on the water" among quite a long list of other fire-referent names referring to the very many fires the ship has had in its operating history. My dad even got injured during one of them in 1989. Bottom Line is that this area is now cited.

That article has been warped beyond the point of referring to it as My Article. Althought this was one of my earliest articles, what the article really needs is someone willing to rewrite it into a decent article. There is also the issue of the lack of electronic resources concerning the Marching Titans. I just now checked the status of the article, and there have been three attempts to delete it all resulting in a "keep" consensus. I don't have the time to deal with it right now, ass I am more concentrated on other things and I am also working a great deal of overtime at work until mid-May at the earliest. I ended up replacing it with another heading because the newer version would not accept the copyright addition. The new file is File:Illinois-Indiana-Kentucky Tri-State Area imposed over WTVW Viewing Area Map-2.png This map was based on my original public domain map showing just the primary counties. Hatnotes on county articles
[edit]I noticed you added a hatnote to Montgomery County, Maryland, and then saw that you've done this to a number of county articles. Please don't do that - the county article titles are already unambiguous, containing the county and the state name, thus per WP:NAMB, should not contain hatnotes. One, for instance, would not accidentally land on Montgomery County, Maryland when searching for Montgomery County, Virginia. SchuminWeb (Talk) 10:19, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
You are now a Reviewer
[edit]Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 21:55, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
County numbers
[edit]Greetings! I see you have been adding county numbers to the ledes of Indiana county articles. While I agree in general that this information is good for the article and should be added, I would suggest that it's really not important enough to appear in bold immediately after the name of the county. It seems like the kind of information that should go in the infobox. Would you agree? Omnedon (talk) 16:21, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, if I could, I would put it in the infobox. Rhatsa26X (talk) 16:42, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
- In Knox County, it was already mentioned in the infobox footnotes; so I've removed that from the lede. We can put this in the footnotes for all the other counties too. Omnedon (talk) 18:42, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
I had thought of that after I posted the above statement. After all, I was the one responsible for creating Knox County's Footnotes, along with the other counties of Southwestern Indiana. I was waiting for responses to it before expanding that project to include all of Indiana's Counties. But it seems that using the footnotes like I did for those 11 counties may be accpeted for the other 81 as well. The footnotes can also be used in the same manner as Knox County to put other seemingly benign information such as order of creation like in the case of Pike County or order of size and population like Vanderburgh County.
Now that my rework of the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference title list is complete, I am going to make this project my next priority: the moving of all county numbers that I have done from the article to the Infobox, as well as expanding the Southwestern Indiana Footnote Project. This will probably take most of the rest of the day, but should be done at a bare minimum, (i.e. the county number and maybe area rank if it seems a little obvious) by this evening. This will be done by county order, so latter counties like Washington or Tippecanoe may be a while. If you or anybody else want to contribute to this effort to make it go faster, it may get done sooner. I am going to this project underway as of 1630 CDT/1730 EDT (4:30/5:30) Rhatsa26X (talk) 21:31, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
Also I am using the following phrase for the county number indication:
| footnotes = Notes on Adams County, IN
- County 01 in Indiana's Alphanumeric System
This will direct the user to the list of Indiana Counties. as well as give the number, so the number can be verified, although I can pretty much give any county name to its number without even looking at it.Rhatsa26X (talk) 21:47, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
Project Indiana Footnote Complete as of 1901 CDT/2001 EDT (7:01/8:01). All 92 Counties now have footnotes containing their respective county numbers, some have other miscellaneous information. Rhatsa26X (talk) 19:05 CDT 16 June 2010
- Sorry, but I don't quite get your application of the term "Alphanumeric system". It's a numeric system -- each county has a number. Also, the list of counties is already linked in the Indiana navigation template. Omnedon (talk) 00:42, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
- A few suggestions... First, we may not need the text "Notes on X County", since that would be assumed in an article about "X County". Second, perhaps just the text "Indiana county number X" is all that's needed. Third, I am not sure that bold text is really needed in this case. What do you think? Adding these numbers to the articles is a good idea, though, IMO. Omnedon (talk) 00:50, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
Gibson County towns
[edit]Greetings! I was just looking at the Template:Gibson County, Indiana and had a couple of questions. You recently added a link for "Calamity, Indiana" to that template, but I can find no record of any such town in Gibson County (or any other Indiana county). Do you have a source for this? The same applies to Snake Run, Gibson County, Indiana, for which you created an article; in looking at the map at the coordinates specified in the article, I see no evidence of any settlement; and I see a "Snake Run" at the USGS but it's a stream, not a town. Omnedon (talk) 12:03, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
It is a collection of houses located northeast of Owensville along old Indiana 65 it manly consists of several closely grouped homes and a large trailer park. It is known as Calamity Junction. Why it is called this even I do not know. As for Snake Run, It also does appear on some maps including the state map. Snake run even has signs along its length on Indiana 168 saying "SNAKE RUN". I have lived in this county for almost 16 years, and I get around the county a lot. Besides, Warrick County's got a lot of towns on it template that I have never heard of as well. They're probably extinct towns, like Skelton, which now mostly lies at the bottom of Gibson Lake. Rhatsa26X (talk) 08:26, 23 June 2010 (CDT)
- As for Warrick County, all of the unincorporated towns listed on that template do appear in USGS data. The USGS database is not perfect, but it does tend to include even the tiniest settlements, some of which no longer exist; so since neither Snake Run nor Calamity Junction appear in the USGS data, some other source(s) would need to be cited to show that they exist as recognized settlements. Omnedon (talk) 15:09, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
Sources
[edit]As a reminder, all edits must be verifiable to reliable sources. This is especially true for articles about TV shows when giving any details about unaired/future episodes. Your edit to Hannah Montana (season 4) added such episodes but no sources; accordingly, it has been reverted. —C.Fred (talk) 16:09, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

[edit]With the first of what I hope will be monthly newsletters I again want to welcome you to the project and hope that as we all work together through the year we can expand the project, create missing articles and generally improve the pedia thought mutual cooperation and support. Now that we have a project and a solid pool of willing members I wanted to strike while the iron is hot and solicite help in doing a few things that I believe is a good next step in solidifiing the project. I have outlined a few suggestions where you can help with on the projects talk page. This includes but is not limited too updating Portal:United States, assessing the remaining US related articles that haven't been assessed, eliminating the Unrefernced BLP's and others. If you have other suggestions or are interested in doing other things feel free. I just wanted to offer a few suggestions were additional help is needed. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, comments or suggestions or you can always post something on the projects talk page. Speedy deletion of Template:Metropolitan Areas in Indiana
[edit]A tag has been placed on Template:Metropolitan Areas in Indiana requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.
If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).
Thanks. — This, that, and the other (talk) 09:36, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
Instead of deleting it why don't we try to improve it. It's too easy to delete, but it's much more harder and more fruitful to improve it instead. Rhatsa26X (talk) 17:01, 18 January 2011 (CST)

The article Frog Follies has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Article does not satisfy WP:N.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ICYTIGER'SBLOOD 21:10, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

Alternate names in infoboxes
[edit]Hey there! Just thought I'd drop a note to tell you that in the {{infobox road}} template, we only add alternate names if the name is officially used on the entire highway. Disambiguation link notification for October 18
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Coptic Catholic Church, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Coptic (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 15:14, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
The article Harrison College (Indiana) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- A WP:PROMO page which appears to be made of material copied directly from the school website (pages like their history page and their quick facts page and material from their accreditation and memberships page.) So it's WP:COPYVIO concern as well as a WP:PROMO one.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Nat Gertler (talk) 15:24, 2 November 2013 (UTC)

Evansville, Indiana
[edit]We have an unregistered user (I.P. address 166.170.58.55) attempting to make substantial changes to the Evansville, Indiana page. In particular he or she is adding substantial amounts of pictures to the history summary, along with other detailed historical notes. My belief is that these substantial details belong on the history page dedicated to that subject and not in the summary section of the city's article. If you think I'm in error please let me know via the discussion of this issue on the Evansville talk page. Many thanks.--YHoshua (talk) 04:54, 22 February 2014 (UTC)

[edit]Happy March!
Though we have a massive snowstorm coming up, spring is just around the corner! Personally, I am looking forward to warmer weather.
Wikimedia DC is looking forward to a spring full of cool and exciting activities. In March, we have coming up:
- Evening WikiSalon on Wednesday, March 12 from 7 PM – 9 PM. Meet up with Wikipedians for coffee at the Cove co-working space in Dupont Circle! If you cannot make it in the evening, join us at our...
- March Meetup on Sunday, March 23 from 3 PM – 6 PM. Our monthly weekend meetup, same place as last month. Meet really cool and interesting people!
- Women in the Arts 2014 meetup and edit-a-thon on Sunday, March 30 from 10 AM – 5 PM. Our second annual Women in the Arts edit-a-thon, held at the National Museum of Women in the Arts. Free lunch will be served!
We hope to see you at our upcoming events! If you have any questions, feel free to ask on my talk page.

An exciting month of wiki events!
[edit]Hello there,
I am pleased to say that April will be a very exciting month for Wikipedia in Washington, DC. We have a lot of different events coming up, so you will have a lot to choose from.
First, a reminder that our second annual Women in the Arts Edit-a-Thon will take place on Sunday, March 30 at the National Museum of Women in the Arts.
Coming up in April, we have our first-ever Open Government WikiHack with the Sunlight Foundation on April 5–6! We are working together to use open government data to improve the Wikimedia projects, and we would love your help. All are welcome, regardless of coding or editing experience. We will also be having a happy hour the day before, with refreshments courtesy of the Sunlight Foundation.
On Friday, April 11 we are having our first edit-a-thon ever with the Library of Congress. The Africa Collection Edit-a-Thon will focus on the Library's African and Middle East Reading Room. It'll be early in the morning, but it's especially worth it if you're interested in improving Wikipedia's coverage of African topics.
The following day, we are having our second annual Wiki Loves Capitol Hill training. We will discuss policy issues relevant to Wikimedia and plan for our day of outreach to Congressional staffers that will take place during the following week.
There are other meetups in the works, so be sure to check our meetup page with the latest. I hope to see you at some of these events!
All the best,
James Hare

I've reverted your edits on Russians because of WP:OR. There are >8 million ethnic Russians living in Ukraine [and Crimea]. There are less than 2.35 million people living in Crimea with <60% of them being ethnic Russians. So where did this claim that the majority of Russians living Ukraine lived in Crimea? recent infobox edits on Indiana settlements
[edit]Hi. I thought I would stop by and give you my 2 cents on this. To me, one of the most useful features of an infobox is its consistency. You can look at the infobox at any (insert subject here) article and you will find the same kind of info at the same place for every one of the articles. I think that it is possible that this may be good content, but given the fact that you are effectively creating new fields to put the info in, it may be worthy of a discussion at the TEMPLATE:Infobox settlement talk page. I think it looks good, although it will duplicate (at least in the highway info) well developed graphic content that is in hundreds if not thousands of articles. WP:USRD has put in a ton of work developing that content.
Admittedly, new style content has to start somewhere. I personally don't find it to be a good place for WP:BOLD however, due to the consistency issue mentioned above.
You do lots of good work on Indiana subjects (dear to me as it is the state of my birth). Thanks for that. I will certainly leave what to do about it up to you, deferring to your years here. There is a discussion taking place at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject U.S. Roads#Some recent edits that might bear this project's attention about this subject that you may be interested in joining. If this is something you think we should be doing everywhere, I still feel that the best place to discuss it is the template's talk page. Happy editing, and feel free to answer here. I will follow your TP. John from Idegon (talk) 22:06, 8 April 2014 (UTC)

File source problem with File:Indiana (HNAC).png
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Indiana (HNAC).png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.
If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Hi Rhatsa, regarding these recent edits of yours at List of Bella and the Bulldogs episodes, please note that per WP:COLOR, we need to be sure that colors are WCAG 2.0 compatible, to promote accessibility for visually impaired users. The value for blue that you provided was fine, but the pink was not compatible. If you note this tool, you'll see that the black text on pink does not result in YESes across the board. Metropolitan school districts
[edit]Is there some legal or practical distinction between MSDs and other Indiana school districts? If so, please visit Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2016 August 16 and explain it; I've nominated Category:Metropolitan school districts in Indiana, which you created, for merger with the general school district category, because the only distinction I can find is that the township trustee has less responsibility for MSDs than he does for other districts. Your recent editing history at Gibson Southern High School shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. The article PAC Winter Titles has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Non-notable list of championships; PAC Spring Titles was already deleted as a result of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PAC Spring Titles.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
- Please note that PAC Fall Titles has also been proposed for deletion via the same process for the exact same reason as above. I will not repeat the above template. Regards, --MuZemike 22:23, 2 July 2018 (UTC)

2019 US Banknote Contest
[edit]US Banknote Contest | ||
---|---|---|
November-December 2019 | ||
There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons. In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.
