If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Youngman requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Youngman

[edit]

Hi, please be sure to read WP:COI and WP:NMUSIC before recreating an article on Youngman. From what I can see on google, it doesn't look as if we should have an article on him at the moment. SmartSE (talk) 17:19, 5 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't actually delete the page, but I saw it had been deleted so thought the above guidelines would be useful reading for you. The article was actually deleted for being a copyright violation - whilst you can donate material from your website it is unlikely that it is suitable to be included per our neutrality policy. The article started with "One of the UK’s most exciting and dynamic vocal talents, there’s little the dexterous Youngman (Simon Smith) hasn’t achieved success in, with a career only just beginning to bloom." which is clearly not neutral, and even without the copyright issue, would probably lead to the article being deleted as spam. WP:NMUSIC explains the level of independent coverage that a musician needs to be included here. When I searched back in October, I couldn't find anything that suggested that these requirements were met. The conflict of interest guideline is also important for you, as it explains that you should not be the one to create the page as you "work for Youngman's management". If you think that Youngman is sufficiently notable to be included - i.e. "has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable and are independent from the musician" - then create a draft at User:Philclark86/Youngman and drop me a note and I can take a look and provide feedback. You might also want to read this about creating your first article. Cheers SmartSE (talk) 13:12, 18 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've had a bit more of a search and the only thing suitable as a reference I could find at the moment is this in Kmag. If there is anything else similar out there, then we can probably have a short article. SmartSE (talk) 13:33, 18 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Nope, those aren't any use as they are not reliable sources. We need things that have been published by independent sources with some form of editorial oversight. SmartSE (talk) 14:02, 18 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That and the kmag article are probably sufficient to satisfy our requirements to be included. Before starting please make sure you follow the advice above and bear in mind that the article is likely to be pretty short. Stick to facts rather than "He makes it a point to have every word reflect exactly how he's feeling emotionally about any given topic," etc. If you get it done today I can take a look later. I've moved what you put on my talk page to User:Philclark86/Youngman. You need to use the kmag and guardian articles as sources for the information. WP:CITE should help. SmartSE (talk) 15:08, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
